Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for all the love, care and support my mother receives at Wingate. The staff is not only kind and attentive, but also creates such a positive, fun environment for all the residents. We were concerned about our mother, who has Alzheimer’s, receiving enough attention and the potential of her disease progressing more rapidly in memory care. All our concerns have been relieved by the care she receives at Wingate. Not only is she doing well, but she is absolutely thriving! All the residents have so many activities scheduled to keep them engaged and active. They have so much support to help them not only physically but emotionally. Lena, Kat and Christine and all the staff are absolutely amazing, and we are beyond grateful to them! I really can’t say enough wonderful things about the Neighborhood at Wingate. We worked with residents at Wingate Residences to test out a walking cane that we built for a class project. Maggie was an amazing host, clearly very attuned to the residents' needs and we had a great time meeting the residents. I had no expectations when I walked in the door. I just knew I couldn’t live alone for the time being. I walked in to a vista of light! And a view pf the Seekonk river and the old bridge that blew me away. Everywhere I look is filled with light and open space and comfort. There are social spaces and contemplative ones as well, that spoke to me of a rare intelligence and a sense of what it means to be seen and cared for. And the residents and staff alike are incredibly comfortable here and freely share themselves in a specially warm but non intrusive way. Soon after I arrived I was confronted with two issues that rendered me almost helpless — the care & support I received could not have been better. And so, I found this place truly by accident but I feel as though I landed in chocolate.

For the past year my cousin and I have been caring for our aunt who is in the mid-stages of dementia and needed guidance and support through this new way of life. Based on a recommendation from another assisted-living facility not affiliated with Wingate where my aunt was living for a short time, I reached out to Wingate Residence on the East Side to see if their memory care program was more tailored to my aunt’s specific needs. My first contact there was with Maggie Kuriakose. From the minute I first spoke with her by phone and experienced her personality, I had a sense of great comfort. She began by asking very appropriate questions about the needs of my aunt so as to advise me of what she believed would be best for my aunt. It was apparent from Maggie‘s outgoing personality that she not only loves what she does there, but she is proud of what Wingate has to offer those like my aunt. My aunt’s medical situation required a bit of a process to get her to the memory care program at Wingate, but Maggie, Lisa, the primary nurse in that program, and the entire team, thoughtfully guided me every step of the way. I was able to visit Wingate prior to my aunt’s acceptance there and met what can only be described as a wonderful community. It was readily apparent that the team there works together and is passionate about what they do. Even before my aunt moved there, staff members knew who I was, knew my aunt’s name, and they all expressed their enthusiasm at meeting her and working with her. Truly like family! The facility is absolutely beautiful and very well organized. Upon my aunt being evaluated to be sure that she was able to safely live at the Wingate facility, she was cleared and accepted as a resident. My aunt is now a resident in that part of the facility known as “the Neighborhood”, an area of the facility that provides not only great care to their residents, but personal and undivided attention as needed, and permitting each resident to have the freedom to be who they are and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and a full schedule of activities that I don’t think I could even keep up with! :-), including programs designed to enable the residents to be stimulated both physically and mentally. My aunt has her personal belongings and furniture in a very personal surrounding creating a little apartment-setting for her to now call “home”. The apartment was set up and looks absolutely adorable. My aunt entered the facility as the final touches were taking place with the unsolicited help of a team of people, including Vincent “Vinnie”, the Executive Director at Wingate, who helped me hang photos in my aunt’s new residence. When I tell you the entire Wingate team goes above and beyond every step of the way, it is by no means an exaggeration. My aunt was greeted as she arrived by Vinny, Maggie, Lina (the Director of the neighborhood), Lisa, a nurse, and a host of other wonderful staff members. It was as if my aunt was boarding a cruise-ship for a vacation. In fact, the welcoming extended to her brought tears to my eyes with the sincerity of everyone there and the joy on my aunt’s face. I was very hesitant in my aunt’s acceptance of once again being relocated, but she entered the “Neighborhood” at Wingate with such a warm welcome and an apartment to make her now call home, that my hesitancy was short-lived. So that I don’t go on and on (because I could do so easily), I’d like to say that if there is anyone you know that needs or will be needing such a facility, I highly recommend to call Maggie to visit and tour the facility. That alone will answer any question you possibly could have and give you the comfort of knowing this wonderful facility – with its wonderful and caring staff - exists. Michael

My 88 year old Mom stayed at Wingate for three weeks following a scare with her heart. The staff was AMAZING. The food was AMAZING. PRIOR To July 4th weekend the culinary staff was seen wheeling red white and blue parfaits outside to residents waiting for a holiday concert to start. The dining hall looks like a resort. And people can choose from the menus or request custom meals! You could go to an expensive restaurant and not get better food or service! The rooms were beautiful and the atmosphere was comforting and bright. I highly recommend Wingate!

I was fortunate enough to have my 88 year old mother spend 3 weeks at the Eastside last summer.She had fallen and broken her collarbone. She needed help. She was reluctant , to say the least. She is a very active person . She is also extremely independent . She did not want to go. She finally realized she needed assistance for her rehabilitation. I convinced her, and what a stroke of luck that was. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Most places work on a skeleton crew on the weekends, not the Eastside. We were met by the Executive Director, Vincent. He toured my Mom around the building, while I put her belongings away. He brought her to the apartment and magically her mood had already changed. She was ready for me to leave! Her apartment was beautiful. It had a view of the river and the courtyard. The apartment was warm and cozy. Her first day was a success. For the following three weeks. I can only say how great the staff was.The wellness staff was so kind and attentive to her, (and believe me, my mom likes attention), They would appear as soon as she called them. They would just go in and check up in her. They would chat with her( and she loves to chat!) The dietary staff was friendly and helpful. She was very happy with the quality of the food. The menu was diverse and inventive. She went to every activity Wingate had to offer, in those three weeks, and there were alot of activities. Outdoor concerts, book club, jeopardy, to name a few. So cudos to the life enrichment director. She went to the gym, and used the equipment. There is a full time gym instructor who was the there to assist her at all times. The gym is beautiful and there's an indoor pool too! It was a wonderful experience for my mother. It also gave me the piece of mind knowing she was safe and being cared for like she was family. It was a great experience for her . ,It was very comforting knowing she was well taken care of. I would suggest wingate residences in the Eastside to anyone.

My uncle (who has essentially been the only father figure in my life) has been living in Wingate for almost a year. It took two years of searching for the best senior residence for my him, but we're glad we didn't settle for any less. Wingate is a prime example of when beauty, intelligence, respect, friendship and loving-kindness are brought together on behalf of any community -- in this case, a senior residence. The staff of Wingate have come together to provide a level of care that I can't recall ever seeing since my days in private school or university. Each one of the senior residents are integrated into the activities that Wingate offers so that their bodies and minds are well nurtured. My uncle has a group of friends that he was so connected with before COVID. The food at Wingate is excellent, on par with any restaurant in the area. I always enjoy myself when I can join my uncle for a meal. I'm completely confident that my uncle is being cared for by the Wingate staff in every way. It seems hard to believe that a senior residence like Wingate exists. I can only suggest checking it out for your family.

My father moved in in late May 2021 - and (as expected) he was not happy about it. That's changed, in large part thanks to the excellent staff - both the nursing/healthcare staff and the dining room team. My father's hearing is poor, and his memory is not what it was - but the staff are patient, respectful and good-natured when assisting him. The staff know the residents, and greet them by name. Management is helpful and responsive when questions arise; staff do a good job of resolving most issues (burnt out lightbulbs, or food not as expected, or any of the myriad minor problems of life), The place is well maintained and kept clean (I have experience with relatives in other assisted living centers & SNFs , and Residences on the East Side is among the best). A special note on the food - the food is good to very good. I'm more than happy to join my father for a meal there. There's a good selection - daily specials, as well a a selection of stand-bys. My father complicates a restricted diet with finicky eating, and they do an excellent job of accommodating his requests. And (important to me) the coffee is much better than the usual institutional brew. all in all among the best of the senior living facilities I have seen.

We have now moved our family member out of here and into another assisted residence facility for continued respite care. I wish I had done it sooner. The staff at Wingate made us feel like we had unreasonable expectations. Nursing staff was rude and showed no compassion, blaming the patient. He is now happily continuing his recovery at another facility. The difference in care and attitude is amazing (interestingly at no additional cost). I would not recommend this place for respite care to anyone. Despite the fact that they claimed they could meet our needs, they did not. There was a lack of communication amongst the daily caregivers and for the most part they were not nice in their care of him. Oh ...and be careful! They try to charge you for an additional month after you provide a move out date. Make sure you read the contract carefully and be prepared to fight with the business office.

A chief reason THIS site was chosen for my mother with Alzheimers is because of the longevity of the staff. Since the new ownership, there has been considerable staff turnover. The new make over of the unit has left the residents with chairs some folks feet can't touch the ground, chairs that can not be pushed into or out from table without help, chairs that offer no support for residents to safely fall asleep in. The construction has taken months, displacing the residences who are confused to begin with and still there is no working sink in the kitchen. When talking with the management, he said his hands are tied by the corporation and that these chairs are used at other sites. I will be visiting them because I can not believe these chairs are dementia approved.
