The keyword to describe Maplewood is community. It’s a warm, caring and welcoming community, one that my father joined two years ago with the anticipation of living there for many years and the sad reality was a much shorter tenure than imagined. It’s such a strong community that after his passing, I couldn’t imagine not remaining a part of it - I travel from another state to volunteer there monthly. My dad was in the rare position of being able to decide for himself to move to Maplewood and as a brutally honest person, shared the same thought with everyone if I can’t live at home, this is the greatest place to live. And he meant it. Having been a caregiver himself for 10 years to my sick mom, he knew what stellar care looked like and he saw it daily at Maplewood. Each associate (staff) member - nurse, aide, dining room, activities, leadership members and maintenance crew treated my father with respect, concern and humor. He never felt as though he was anything other than a member of a community. If your loved one needs a stable and safe environment, many places can offer that. But what sets Maplewood apart from the others Is that their community becomes your family.

Maplewood was a great solution for my brother and our family. They took on our needs and presented a plan that worked for us. When things got complicated they stepped in and helped us. From the top down to the janitors they were friendly, quick to help and so supportive. My brother received excellent care and compassion.

We selected Maplewood at Strawberry Hill (MSH) as an Assisted Living community for my Brother after meeting with the Senior Management Teams at several comparable residences in lower Fairfield County. We did so because we believed that its Team was highly experienced, enlightened and deeply committed to the welfare of the residents. Our daily visits over the subsequent seven weeks have confirmed that our decision was the right one. The members of the Team are very concerned about his wellbeing and growth, interact with him regularly and have been extremely responsive to our questions and concerns. MSH’s facilities are attractive, accommodate the dynamics of the community and make the residents feel very comfortable. The Nursing staff is extremely capable, and the Lifestyle Director engages the community in social and educational activities every week in an attempt to stimulate them. The food, which is prepared fresh by an experienced chef daily, is terrific. A walk through the hallways at MSH suggests that the residents are well groomed and dressed, that they have smiles on their faces, and that many are out of their apartments engaging with other residents. The Residential Assistants are very friendly, appear to enjoy their positions at MSH and provide services which greatly improve the lives of the residents. My Brother is very happy at MSH, and his condition and demeanor have improved while he has been there. We recommend that other family members who are seeking quality Assisted Living and Memory care for their loved ones consider MSH seriously.

The staff at Maplewood at Strawberry Hill, Norwalk, CT are outstanding! They are kind, compassionate and loving. I never leave without a smile on my face knowing that my father is safe and well-cared for. The facility is sparkling clean, bright and cheery. The amenities are first-class. My father is enjoying the activities each day and I can hardly reach him because he is in one or another class or outing. It makes our family very happy to have Dad here. I never come into the facility without being greeted and the staff makes us all feel like family. They are accommodating and approachable, every single one of them. It is a pleasure to meet people who truly love their jobs and the people they care for. Thank you for making this an wonderful experience for us all.

My experience here has truly been more then I could have ever expected. Everyone here has gone beyond the call of duty to make my mom feel comfortable and accepted. My only regret is that I did not find this wonderful place sooner. The administration, under the leadership of Danielle, is not only excellent, but the caring and sensitivity they show to their residents is nothing like I have ever seen before.

Five stars and two thumbs up to the incredible staff at the Maplewood at Strawberry Hill. My 93 year old father has been a resident there for over ten years, and I honestly can't say enough good things about the Maplewood. They are patient and caring and treat my dad with kindness. They ensure that he feels happy and safe. Danielle, the executive director, really does an amazing job! She sets the tone for creating a positive atmosphere. Danielle and the staff make the Maplewood feel like home. They go out of their way to make sure my dad and others are not just looked after but treated like family. We are so thrilled to have found the Maplewood and to have my dad surrounded by people who truly care!

We are grateful for everything The Maplewood at Strawberry Hill did for our beloved mother. Their care was exemplary, and we especially appreciated the close attention, love, and care you gave Mom as she neared her final days. The entire nursing staff went over and beyond what we would have ever expected. She died with grace and dignity, thanks to all. Our mother adored living at The Maplewood. The architecture and abundant sunlight made us proud to bring friends. And so many activities, from flower arranging to Bingo. We know Mom is in a better place now, but we miss visiting her and everyone at The Maplewood.

The first thing I noticed when my wife and I came to Maplewood at Strawberry Hill was the sense of community. Both the staff and residents knew and greeted each other by their respective first names. As time went on I found this community feeling evolved into the care given to our fellow residents. They were treated as family not just another patient they had to take care of. We moved our mom to Maplewood over 2 years ago. She needed interaction and a daily routine. The staff has been outstanding with daily activities and creating an interesting and safe environment where she is active, happy and feels at home. You can tell that the staff really care! She has developed more memory issues recently and Maplewood has been great at identifying her needs and helping us all navigate through this transition and providing peace of mind. We are grateful to have found Maplewood at Strawberry Hill and the great care they provide.

i am so grateful for maplewood. my mother has been here for 9 or so months. she was difficult to place bc of ongoing medical and mental health issues. it has been a very emotional and trying time dealing with the sudden onset of these issues but she has made so many improvements since becoming part of the community at maplewood. the facility has a lovely atmosphere and is clean. staff is friendly, attentive and patient. a huge thanks to director, Danielle and also Liz, Alina, Faith and all the hard working nurses, aides, maintenance employees who keep this place running. i always say it takes a special person to be in this line of work- and yall are doing a wonderful job; it does not go unnoticed or unappreciated, at least for me

Mom has been a resident at Maplewood Strawberry Hill for three years and we couldn't be happier about our choice. The staff are wonderful. It's obvious they really know her. It's also clear that these are people for whom caring for others is a calling -- not just a job. Mom was reluctant to move into a senior living facility, but despite her initial resistance, she quickly became engaged and we saw her happy, social self emerge. She is comfortable, contented, safe and healthy at Maplewood Strawberry Hill -- and we are confident she will continue to be.

When my sister entered Maplewood Assisted Living a few months ago she was not in a good place mentally, physically, or emotionally. She needed a great deal of care and encouragement to perform even the simple tasks of daily living. She had been in another Maplewood facility a few years ago and did very well so we were familiar with Maplewood's care and reputation. My concern at the onset was that she was in such a bad state that she needed almost constant oversight. My anxiety level was very high worrying about her getting the care that she desperately needed. The staff, especially the Director, understood my concerns and was very patient with me, doing their best to calm and reassure me that my sister would be well supervised and cared for. I am so grateful to Maplewood for everything they've done and continue to do for my sister. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs a loving and caring facility for their loved one.

We cannot express enough how grateful we are to have found Maplewood Strawberry Hill for our mother. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were met with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of their residents. The staff here are truly exceptional “ from the caregivers who provide day-to-day assistance with such patience and compassion, to the activities coordinators who ensure a lively and engaging schedule of events. Our mother has had the opportunity to participate in music therapy, flower arrangement classes and animal therapy which have significantly improved her mood and overall well-being. The facilities themselves are clean, modern, and designed with residents’ comfort in mind. Each time we visit, we are reassured by the smiles on the faces of the residents and the positive vibes that permeate the entire place. Communication with the management team has been seamless. They have been proactive in updating us about any changes in our mother’s health and are always open to feedback. Most importantly, we can rest easy knowing our mother is in a safe, nurturing environment where she is not just cared for, but truly valued and loved. My dad has been a resident since 2021. Facility is clean, staff are friendly and approachable. Now that COVID restrictions have lifted, more activities are been offered for family to be included - i.e. now able to come dine with dad. Residents are loved and cared for daily. New leadership is a definite plus.

The place is very nice inside but the communication is terrible.. It seems so simple, but they can’t seem to get it together. Also the food is not farm to table as advertised . Also it is false they supply rides for shopping- Most of the people there are nice but there’s a lot of room for improvement. It could be five stars if they were better at communicating to family members. 80 percent of my emails aren’t answered. Also they need to get rid of the false advertising. Having said that the rooms are spacious. They seem short staffed.

It’s very nice inside. It has a tranquil vibe at first but soon you realize it’s totally chaotic and unorganized. Maybe because they are understaffed? Also a lot of things you are told on the tour are not true so make sure you watch out for that- Also the director is impossible to reach - she barely answers emails -I never see her when I go there-

One of the most difficult decisions I've ever needed to make was coming to terms with the fact that my husband, who suffers from Cognitive Impairment, had reached the point that I could no longer care for him at home, even with help. I was unable to provide him with the time and stimulation he needed to keep involved, active and safe. The timing of this was further complicated by COVID and the closing of his day program. Fortunately for my husband, myself and our family and friends we found Maplewood at Strawberry Hill. The personnel at Maplewood are so welcome, caring and personable. They focus on the dignity of the individual resident. Their sensitivity to family concerns and interest in the resident's needs are very comforting. Visitors are welcomed and encouraged. The facility itself is warm, beautiful and immaculately maintained. It's location also affords me the opportunity to visit several times a day which was one of my criteria in selecting an assisted living setting. Obviously, I'd love to have my husband at home but, as that's not feasible right now, I am so very happy and pleased to have found Maplewood.

Moving my mom from FL to CT was one of the hardest decisions I've made. Having her at Maplewood at Strawberry Hill has been a blessing in many ways. We are close by. The staff and management team are caring, open, communicative and responsive. The facility is spotless. Mom is coming up on one year at Maplewood. Do I wish I could care for her myself at home? Yes. But having her at Maplewood at Strawberry Hill is the next best solution.
