Deep disappointment and profound concern regarding the lack of communication, care, and coordination provided during my mother’s time under the care of St. Mary’s. I have previously raised many of these concerns with various staff members; however, the gravity of what occurred in her final days compels me to document them formally. During what was already an incredibly difficult and emotional time for our family, there was a significant lack of proactive communication regarding my mother’s health status, changes in condition, and overall care in the days leading up to her passing. My siblings and I were left uncertain about important developments and did not receive the level of transparency and timely communication that families should reasonably expect during a loved one’s final days. Our family specifically requested that we be immediately notified of any deterioration in my mother’s condition so we could have the opportunity to be with her. Despite this clearly communicated request, when her health worsened, St. Mary’s failed to provide the communication we relied upon. I personally made numerous calls requesting that basic vital signs be taken, including blood pressure and oxygen levels, due to concerns about her deterioration. I was repeatedly told this was “not protocol” because she was under hospice care. However, St. Mary’s remained her primary caregiving facility, and it is deeply troubling that such basic assessments were dismissed. Had simple measures been taken, we may have understood the seriousness of her decline sooner and been able to be at her bedside. The most devastating consequence of these failures is that my mother passed away alone. Equally troubling was the conflicting information provided afterward, including denial that this had occurred despite a religious staff member reportedly finding her. I also have serious concerns regarding the quality of hands-on care my mother received from aides and nursing staff during her time at St Mary's and her final weeks. We would have removed her from the facility years before her passing, but unfortunately were financially limited. Despite repeatedly expressing concern that she was deteriorating, I observed very little meaningful support or active care being provided. From my perspective, the level of attentiveness and care was deeply inadequate and raises serious concerns about expectations, accountability, and the quality of care afforded to residents. Following my mother’s passing, our family made one visit to collect some of her personal belongings. We never communicated that we had completed removing her possessions. Yet, the following day, we were informed by her former roommate that the remainder of her belongings had been discarded and her room was already being prepared for another resident. This was deeply upsetting and felt profoundly disrespectful to my mother and our grieving family. My mother was a resident of St. Mary’s for 14 years. After such a long residency, it is heartbreaking to feel that she was treated as though she were simply another number rather than a valued resident deserving of dignity, compassion, and family-centered care. Based on my family’s experience, I cannot recommend St. Mary’s to others. I hope this letter prompts serious reflection, accountability, and improvements in communication, care standards, and family coordination so that no other family experiences the pain and distress ours endured.

My mother is a fairly new resident so we are sharing feedback based on the sales experience and the welcome. We looked at several facilities, and St. Mary’s stood out with its strong caring from the staff that works directly with residents. There is a feeling of joy and engagement when you tour and spend time there. Aaron, Director of sales, Is a very special individual who goes beyond a mere professional. He saw to all of our needs as potential customers, but we note he is always aware of the full surroundings and takes ownership for much that goes on in the facility. He was instrumental in resolving problems he did not own with our doctors office. As we are settling in for the last couple months, one person in a staff position left, and we are having typical challenges with an employee turnover that I suspect will be resolved very soon. We are grateful our mom is in a facility where the staff that interacts with residents clearly has so much passion and heart.

My aunt needed a place in which to move that would help with some activities of daily living and St. Mary was recommended to us. Aaron met with us and showed us various space within the community. We talked quite a bit, and he shared his, and the care givers’ philosophy in caring for residents . It became evident that the residents care and what is best for them is at the forefront. Yes, the buildings are older and dated however there were plenty of positive aspects that made our decision a difficult one. St. Mary was clean, the grounds are spacious, the chapel was beautiful and calming (even for those of us who are not religious) and the buddy system for residents made me feel comfortable that my aunt would be partnered with a likeminded person upon her arrival. Through the process Aaron checked in me without exerting pressure to secure a room. It was evident that he truly wanted what was best for my aunt. The only reason she is not currently living St. Mary was our need to move her closer to family.

Caring and clean. We are so pleased with the staff & facility. Our loved one is in the memory unit here at St Mary’s . The staff is so kind, Tia has been so sweet and supportive with our transition. Her caring demeanor is such a blessing to St Mary’s. Aaron was our first point of contact, he helped us through the admissions process with ease and was available for any of our questions and concerns. We are so happy with our choice, you will be too.

I am looking for an independent residence and had a fantastic tour on Monday with Mr. Aaron Schell. This is an outstanding facility for independent living and from what I could see with my interaction with the residents, a great place to live!!! It is an exceptionally neat, clean, and well appointed facility. There is NOTHING that I did not like about this facility. It is on the top of my list for residence! Rev. B. C. I had to remove my Mom from this facility because of the neglect and horrible care she received here!!! Absolutely awful !!! Staff is a constant revolving door and the care given here is the worst, this facility should be shut down!!! 0 stars!!!!

Wonderful staff. We sent Mom there so we could get her area in order she spent 4 days there and was just as happy when we picked her up as she was when we dropped her off. She said the Nurse was wonderful and everyone was kind. Food is her favorite thing and they feed her well, which made her very happy. Her room was very nice and clean. We will use them again. Thanks St Mary Villa for taking such good care of Mom

The facility is very clean. The staff was friendly and the environment could be described as being comfy. Mom loved the feel of the facility and it ranks high on our list for when she is ready to make a move. Mom grew up in a country setting; the facility is set in an older established neighborhood which is what mom is looking for!!!
