My husband is a resident in the memory care unit at The Birches. I really can't say enough good things about his experience there. I truly appreciate the staff, and from the very first day, welcomed my husband into their community family. My husband, Joe, is a "foodie". He loves the meals that are served. The Birches is very clean and the residents have so many activities to choose from every day. Each Wednesday there is a day trip that can be signed up for. Casino, restaurant, shopping, candy factory, you name it, they go! Thank you all at the Birches who work so hard to make my husband's and the rest of the residents' lives comfortable and happy.

My mother moved to Birches Memory Care after living independently at Arbor Square. The staff, from administrators to aides, were consistently professional and caring. During my visits, my mom was always well-groomed, and staff gestures like painting her nails lifted her spirits. Even as her health declined, her needs were met. Having to make the decision for Mom to go into assisted living was a difficult one. However, The Birches at Harleysville helped us realize it was the right decision. They provide a warm and welcoming environment to the residents and their families. Directors have been available to meet with us when we have had concerns. They listened to our concerns and worked with us to find solutions so that Mom is getting the best care. The staff genuinely cares for the residents and it is seen in their interactions with them and residents’ families.

My mother was a resident of an independent living community. When she was diagnosed with dementia I needed to find another place for her that could give her the care she needed. I visited many facilities and very happy with this choice. The Birches is warm and cozy and the residents are very sweet too! The nursing coordinator and her aides are the most caring, patient and friendly people. There is a peace of mind knowing your loved one is being treated with respect and kindness. The whole facility is full of dedicated staff. There is also plenty of activities and the food is good too!

The aides here at the community were spectacular! I came to The Birches as a short term Respite after having a fall at a wedding reception. I live several states away and The Birches provided me with a home away from home. The FOX team was excellent! Activities were very good and the food was good for most meals too, just more meals a day than I am used to. They make a wonderful raisin bread though! Ellen was so very kind to me and I want to give her special recognition. Bridgette from PT/OT was great and also deserves recognition. I used the bus to go to Walmart one day on a shopping trip that worked out well. The only thing that could have made my stay better would be less meal offerings with bread, too many carbs! But all else was great!

I moved here several months ago to be closer to my family. I was living alone in a house several towns away. I like my new room, it is very nice. The meals are good and much better than most places. The activities are very good and there is always something to do. But the people are what make it special here. Everyone is so very nice and friendly and everyone is also very helpful. I miss my home, mostly due to being there for my whole life, but I am enjoying my new life and friends that I have made at The Birches. My granddaughter is even starting a part time job here and loves too! Would recommend here to anyone looking.

I recently had the pleasure of touring The Birches of Harleysville Assisted Living and Memory Care, and I was truly impressed. The staff was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive”it was clear they genuinely care about the residents. The community was undergoing some room renovations, and the updated spaces are looking beautiful and comfortable. There was a noticeable sense of energy and positivity throughout the building. The Birches Staff has been incredible to work with over the last few months as we transitioned my Aunt into their Memory Care Community in Harleysville. They’ve eliminated all of the anxiety and fear we were facing and although she was scared at first, my Aunt called today and said it’s the best decision we and she could’ve made. She loves her neighbors and said staff is taking great care of her. We’ve visited a few times and the place is extremely well kept and feels like home. My family cannot thank the Birches enough and we hope that others navigating this experience are fortunate enough to find a community like this one!!

Five Stars; 2025 Quality care by a professional and experienced nursing staff. My Stepfather has been treated with kindness and respect and has been able to enjoy a lot of activities! I personally feel like the Seniors that reside within the community "really matter" to the staff and the Executive Director is extremely helpful and supportive and has in (my opinion) transformed this facility into an incredible place for elderly people. I don't have to worry as much about my Stepfather, as he has been receiving very excellent care and support. I highly recommend this wonderful assisted living facility if you’re looking for a new place for your Senior loved one to call home.

My 95 year old mother has been at the Birches of Harleysville since last April. Overall, I love the hominess of the Birches and the fact that it is so close to my home. All the people are very friendly, but I am experiencing a lack of competency. We have had some struggles with her meds, as they are given at set times, not as I had been doing based on recommendations of doctors. There are also struggles with them overseeing/reminding her to shower and changing her linens; two things that are part of 'the contract'. I have had to do both things myself. However, my mom is adjusting and seems happy. Loves the food! I was excited when they said they could do blood draws as per Drs' orders. However, that was messed up several times, so I had to resume taking her out for bloodwork myself. Today there was a total failure of communication. My mom's meds were to be withheld until after she had a DEXA Scan. Although I was assured this would happen, I checked while we were on our way out, and they did give her her meds. I had to cancel the DEXA Scan, and now her doctor won't have results for appt next week. The med tech/nurse who was informed did not speak up and take any responsibility for her mistake. Making appointments and dragging my 95 year old mom in and out of the community is not trivial for her or me. Lastly, her glides were stolen off of her walker 2 to 3 weeks ago. and we were told by staff that they probably fell off. Interesting that rubber caps were miraculously placed on instead. All these things may be the result of not enough help which all assisted living homes are experiencing right now. Bottom line, you have to be a squeaky wheel and stay on top of the care of your loved one for the best result at the Birches.

I want to mention a certain special someone that works at here. His name is Matt is the activity person that runs the residents that live in the memory ward. My Mom just recently passed away and because of Matt after feeling a lot of heartache and grief that last few days he assured me the last chapter of her life was filled w laughter activities as well as many memorable moments. He even sent me pictures of the special ones and he had a story for each and every one. He truly is a special person that runs the activity program I couldn’t be more thank ful!

I moved into The Birches a few weeks ago after spending the last almost four years at the independent living nextdoor. Everyone has been so nice, welcoming, and helpful in my transition here. It's like they could not do enough and that they want to do more for you. The community is clean, the meals are good and everyone is very friendly. From my first meeting with the executive director who came out to my place nextdoor, to my tour with marketing, they truly live up to their great reputation in the area. The Birches at Harleysville is a magical place! I am a professional musician & music educator, and when I have time off from touring nation wide I perform at senior living communities. In the 15+ years I've been performing at various senior living locations across eastern Pennsylvania, The Birches at Harleysville is by far the best facility I've had the honor of playing. The communal areas are very clean and well organized, with modern elements yet a distinguished classic interior design. The location is also very beautiful; surrounded by greenery, residents can enjoy the massive property outside or soak in the sunlight through the ample windows. The staff and administration are a JOY to be around; wonderful communication skills, attentive, and very pleasant across the board. Even as someone who just pops in to perform once a month, I pick up on the interactions between residents and staff, and it's very apparent the residents feel respected, heard, safe, and supported. The entire staff and administration feel like one big family, and getting to spend time with the residents before and after my shows is such a rewarding experience filled with warmth and laughter - which is only made possible by the sense of community and security instilled from the top down. Kudos to the Birches at Harleysville! If you're considering The Birches for yourself or a loved one, I'd highly recommend it!

I was recently asked to provide musical entertainment for the residents at this community. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist and was impressed with the communities COVID protocols in place. The new Executive Director was kind enough to show me around and was equally impressed with the renovations to enhance the living environment. The residents seemed well cared for and were quite engaging with me during my performance. Having performed at several Senior communities, my experience at the Birches was on the top of my list!

Had a generally good impression of the facility until the time came for my mother to be transferred from memory care to a skilled nursing facility. Had issues with the facility that resulted in the loss of my mother's hearing aids( $4000) .On the day of transfer, the facility failed to document that she was wearing them, relying on her seeming to hear OK as a sign that she had them, and failed to pack the charger for the devices. Such an important medical device should have been clearly identified and the charger should have been packed with belongings going with her on transport to the new facility. She arrived at the new facility without the hearing aids and the receiving facility called the Birches to notify them. The Birches denied that receiving facility called them about the missing hearing aids. The Birches investigation failed to locate the hearing aids and that the facility failed to visually document that she was wearing them at the time of transfer. The devices were lost. Many phone calls to the Birches were met with changing stories and a refusal to acknowledge financial responsibility for the loss. They hid behind the personal possession clause in the contract that said they were not responsible, but hearing aids are considered medical devices. My mother's medical condition precluded her from managing her hearing aids by herself and family cannot be monitoring this 24/7, especially while observing Covid restrictions. Sloppy oversight should not absolve the institution from financial responsibility for the loss. In my experience, the Birches has loss credibility due to their lack of timely response to multiple inquiries, changing explanations, lack of cooperation, and overall defensive attitude on the part of senior administration.

Alyssa I want to thank you for everything you and all the staff did for my sister, mom and I! I will definitely recommend the Birches to anyone looking. The entertainment and activities are amazing! The food is very good. My mom especially love to go see the birds they have upstairs. I was able to bring in items for her room to make hers and visit anytime I wanted. My mother was in the memory care unit and I was able to take her out to the day break area anytime I was there. The entire staff was very pleasant and anytime I asked for something they made it happen. This unit is a secured unit and the walls are painted beautifully with murals. My mother stayed for 2 weeks for respite care after a serious injury. The staff was very nice, attentive, accommodating, and communicated well. Special shout out to the chef, Kikanza, who made delicious soups for my mother every day (she had her jaw wired shut). The facility was clean and nice, and they had daily activities for the residents. It is also great that they allow pets, which gave me the opportunity to visit with my dog, which raised my mother's spirits, along with much of the other community members as well!

My father-in-law moved to the Birches a few years after my mother-in-law passed away. Prior to moving there he was in and out of the hospital and rehab, frequently mismanaged his medications, had a poor diet, and felt isolated. The managers and staff did an amazing job of helping him adjust to this move and he quickly made new friends, gained weight from all the great food, and even went on local fishing outings with Wayne, the maintenance director. The staff treated him with great care and respect. We knew he was in the right place when we were out to lunch one day and he said he wanted to go home...to the Birches. Many thanks to everyone for all your care and compassion.

I am considering personal care/assisted living options for a 91 year old relative. The staff and residents at the Birches at Arbour Square made a positive impression on me from my first contact. My phone call was answered promptly and both the receptionist, Amy, and the marketing representative, Alyssa, were courteous and helpful, listening to my concerns. Not overly pushy like some other facilities. My initial pleasant interaction was reinforced when I visited. Residents were enjoying a piano concert by a fellow resident during my tour. The building is very clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and I was impressed with the variety of activities offered - as well as the quality of the food - and friendliness of the servers - at the lunch I had there. Although we are not ready to make a decision right now about my relative's care, I would say that - when we're ready - the Birches will be at the top of our list !
