I have been a cottage resident in Eskaton for almost 15 years. Over the years I have enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of my neighborhood and other residents. Lately, my neighbors and I have been enjoying the meals at the Lodge. Thanks to Evan Lawrence, Culinary Coordinator, the meals have improved greatly. They are tasty, attractive and served by a friendly and a well organized serving staff. I have spoken to Evan...he is open to suggestions and circulates about the dining room involved in friendly conversations with the diners. There are many other advantages to living in Eskaton. Under the direction of Alicia Rist, many improvements have taken place. I know I speak for my neighbors when I write that we are all grateful to live in the wonderful environment that Eskaton offers. I had such a delightful experience at Eskaton Village! The facility was stunning, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable bingo evening. And let's talk about the food - outstanding doesn't even begin to describe it! The staff and residents were the cherry on top, radiating warmth and friendliness throughout the Bingo night. This was an appreciation event for community volunteers, and I thought it was such a beautiful gesture! Thank you for letting me participate.

My parents moved to Eskaton Grass Valley in March 2018. They had been in Assisted Living in San Diego but needed more help and we wanted them closer to where we live. What a difference moving from a for-profit facility to the not-for-profit Eskaton Grass Valley. Eskaton has less employee turnover and a much better staff environment that improves care for their residents. They are truly full service with an in-house beauty salon and coordinated care with Claydon Geriatrics Medical Staff and other external providers. The staff honestly cares for their residents rather than just seeing them as a paycheck. Additionally, as my parents' incapacitation increased, their care level kept up culminating with a move to Memory Care in March 2021 and subsequent hospice in their apartment this year. They were able to stay together and keep their cat with them the entire time. My dad recently passed away peacefully. The Eskaton staff was so very helpful and supportive. He was cared for in his apartment with his family without being alone at an unfamiliar nursing home or hospital room. Eskaton’s staff support throughout the entire time was wonderful and they did a great job of keeping our family informed. They worked seamlessly with Hospice of the Foothills and Claydon Geriatrics ensuring my parent’s comfort. Eskaton’s support for my mom through the change has been excellent, keeping her involved with activities and looking after her continued welfare. We are so thankful for Eskaton’s coordinated care over the years. Thank you Eskaton!

Jan 2023: I’m updating my review from 2 to 4 stars as the Director has been working on implementing changes for the better. The food has improved significantly, but is not consistent hence only 4 stars and not 5. Nov 2022: We moved my 85 year old mother to Eskaton earlier this year, and we are very disappointed. It is sad to that this is considered be the best in town. The food quality has been terrible. Hard to believe that they would serve burnt toast and burned bacon. Cafeteria food at a detention facility is probably better than most of what they serve there. Perhaps they expect the older folks not to complain.

Eskaton is by far the best assisted living community that there is. The apartments are very spacious and the building is placed perfectly on a beautiful landscape in a gated community. Eskaton always offers awesome activities for all of the residents and the staff at eskaton are so amazing and caring and you can tell, they're all really passionate about the residents and value their jobs.
