Brookdale in Hillsborough NJ is a very nice senior living facility. My mother is very happy here. Very nice staff, excellent nursing staff and a very clean, well kept facility.

My father moved into Brookdale in June of 2022. He was fortunate to have my sister visit him every day in the evening and sometimes twice a day. He constantly had the urge to urinate and was diagnosed with a UTI. In May they catheterized him and he had a urinary bag. In June family came in to visit and brought up the fact that he still had blood in his urine to the staffs attention. They simply responded that he needed a procedure that two Doctors refused to perform on a 94 yo man. They kept him catheterized with blood in his bag. So …. Nothing. I was expecting Brookdale to keep us updated as to our father's health and medical treatment. After all they are the health care professionals and we pay A LOT of money each month to keep him safe and take care of him. Unfortunately, within only a couple of months with this catheter and bleeding, his health declined very rapidly but we were not informed this was serious. Ultimately, family called the receptionist one morning (as he is usually in the common room) to inquire about my dad's condition as he looked off the previous evening. It was the receptionist, not medical staff, who had him sent to the hospital as an emergency. He spent the next 3 weeks fighting for his life. By the time he made it to the hospital he had sepsis, a UTI, kidney stones, open sores, and was diagnosed with severe malnutrition. All this was the result of a UTI they knew he had and left untreated. His White Blood Count was more than 3 times normal!!! Family is not suppose to diagnose these things while visiting!!! Pop loved it at Brookdale. Most of the staff are nice and he had a lot of friends there, but sadly they failed to provide adequate medical attention to my father. I think Brookdale became reliant on our family member to assess our Pop's health rather than them. Very disappointed and unnecessary. Thomas Santangelo

I cannot say enough positive things about Brookdale Senior Living in Hillsborough. When my brother and I were looking for a Senior Living for our mother, we toured no less than 5 facilities. Brookdale was hands down our #1 choice. It's now been 18 months since Mom's move in and we couldn't be happier with the level of service and care provided. THANK YOU BROOKDALE for giving our family peace of mind. Mom loves it here and raves about the food, the staff, and is happy, safe and enjoying her 80's!

In her prime, my mother was very active. She owned and operated two large nursing homes. As her memory started to fail, she could no longer live by herself, but still wanted a place of her own, like an apartment. We looked at all the assisted living facilities in our area. One Saturday afternoon we stopped by Brookdale at Hillsborough, unannounced. They were not scheduled to do tours that day, but one of the staff happily stepped up and offered to show us around. While on the tour, we interviewed two other staff members "off the record". With smiles, all three said they really enjoyed working there and liked taking care of the residents. There was a real home-like feel about the place. This was in 2019 and our experience since then has been consistent with our initial positive impressions. In particular, they have done a stellar job handling all the difficulties associated with the Covid pandemic. When she first moved in, it took mom a couple weeks to get used to the idea of leaving her house, but since then she has been very happy with her "lovely apartment". Trying to keep her in her house (she lived 3 hours away) with visiting nurses would have been a nightmare. After my mother being in my local Brookdale site for years I had to move out of state, but I know she is well taken care of and they keep me informed of everything going on in her life now. We are blessed to have these people in our lives, especially during these trying covid times.

Lovely facility except for size of rooms-very small. Pricey although fee includes room cleaning, laundry, phone, cable, Wi-Fi, meals, basic PT and OT activities, and nurse on prem. Administering medication, personal care, etc. extra. Lots of activities. Residents looked happy. Good vibes.

This community looked nice when we visited. The staff we met were nice and the community felt warm and inviting. The main room and dinning area were just a little to big for my loved one.

Overall I have no complaints of this community they have provided my mother with excellent care and have really made her comfortable in her new living environment. They have a great menu for the residents to choose from with a wide variety of meals. They also have a great activity program offered throughout the week as well as off campus field trips. I am very pleased with everything at this facility and would defiantly recommend it
