I knew from the beginning when AP calculated my mom's initial invoice incorrectly that moving her here was a BIG mistake. Pinebrook is nice, but the staff are very off-putting and somewhat dishonest. On move-in day, my mom went to the cafe for lunch, and I accompanied her. We were forced to sit with another man and his caretaker. There were several empty tables, but we were not allowed to eat privately. Next, the guy who is head of the dining room approached our table and asked who we were (as if we came in off the street to steal a meal). He assumed incorrectly that I was eating with my mom, but I had not ordered anything. He told me if I wanted anything it would be charged to her room. Ironically, that same evening, a Pinebrook Ambassador invited my mom to dinner. When my mom showed up alone, she sent my mom back to get me and my sister. She told the dining staff that we would all be eating for FREE since my mom was in the process of moving in. My mom only lasted 5 weeks. The food is terrible. Their website boasts "delicious, healthy meals." The meals are not delicious, nor are they healthy. My mother reported that everything tasted like it was reheated from a can. I also witnessed people sitting there for 20+ minutes without being acknowledged or served. Their website states they have a fitness center. The "fitness center" is about the size of a nice walk-in closet. It has a treadmill, a bike, and some weights. 24/7 concierge? Nope...... on the evening of Sunday January 26, after 8:00 PM, a few residents were locked outside. The automatic door was not opening to let them in. They pushed the button for help, and no one answered. One resident had to call her husband, who struggled with a walker, to come to the front door to let everyone in. My mom gave her 30-day notice around February 8. On Thursday February 20, my mom accidentally let her kitchen sink run over. She started running water and got side-tracked. (People get sidetracked.... one day I went to visit my mom and a female Pinebrook employee left her car parked in the circle, in front of the door blocking traffic, with the passenger door open and her purse on the front seat - she got sidetracked - it happens.) Water was in my mom's kitchen area and ran out into the hallway. The receptionist, her name starts with an L, called me at work to tell on my mom. She gave me a story that was hearsay. My sister went to assess the water, but it was already cleaned up. My sister spoke to L and asked her why she called me at work. They may have exchanged words but me adding it here would be hearsay (see what i did). On my way home from work, I called to see if I could speak to the Director (NG). Of course, L answered the phone. I asked her to give NG the message personally. I asked if maintenance moved the stove/refrigerator to clean up the water. She insisted they did (but I found a piece of wet cardboard under the stove - so did they move it?). And, then told me the unit was "highly damaged." When I told her my sister had already assessed the unit, L continued with her story. In fact, she started to talk over me so I raised my voice so L could hear that I was still talking. L accused me of being rude when she, in fact, was the rude one. I reminded her that I had already said "please" and "thank you " to her three times in the conversation. She hung up on me. On Friday, February 21, my mom went to the receptionist, L, and asked her to come and see the "damage". L refused and accused my mom of being aggressive. I would not be surprised if my mom said she would slap the crap out of L. My mom has a mouth. I do not believe for one minute that my mom was physically aggressive. As a result, I got a call from the director who told me that my mom could not stay there any longer. He also stated that my mom "had alcohol bottles in her apartment." I shut him down quickly as my mother does not drink. The bottles were in a box that was moved to Pinebrook in error. I left work on Friday and got my mom out of there. We moved my mom's belongings on Saturday February 22. I returned the keys and spoke to the director around 11:30 AM. I asked him who said my mom had alcohol bottles in the unit. "I don't remember." Of course, you don't. The bottles he was referring to were all wrapped in paper and INSIDE a box. I let him know that the common denominator in all the chaos (incorrectly reporting damage, reporting alleged aggression) was L, the receptionist. NG admitted that he should have been the one to assess the unit and call me. He also stated that "this happens all the time" (running water over into unit). And we would not be charged anything extra for the clean-up. After moving out, it took 3 emails and 2 calls to get a response from about the refund. We finally received a refund for the unused pre-payment of rent. I am thankful for that. However, the whole experience was unpleasant from start to finish.

The best decision we ever made was to move my Mom to Pinebrook Milford OH. The facility is beautiful and the apartments have everything one would need. Everyone working there are all so helpful and compassionate. Mom knows that she was surrounded by people who she can depend on. Pinebrook community was like a family to her. She made so many friends while living there. The facility also offer many different services from outings to in-house activities. We highly recommend this place to people who are looking for a happy retirement community.

My mother in law has been a resident at Pinebrook for over a decade. We looked at many facilities and have not regretted our choice. My mother lived at Pinebrook before, during, and after COVID and the staff was committed to the safety of the residents. Although the residents were encouraged to vaccinate they were not forced to vaccinate. Pinebrook made every effort to follow safety protocols and also kept families up to date with the required changes and status. During the pandemic the Hairdresser was forced to stop working, but as soon as she was allowed to work again, she returned because she cares about the residents and takes care of them like family. Originally Pinebrook was just for Independent Living, but has expanded to include Assisted Living and Memory Care. My mother has been in both Independent Living and on the Assisted Living floor during the Covid shutdown. This gave us great peace of mind knowing that although we couldn’t visit with her she was being attended to every single day. She is currently back in Independent Living and will celebrate her 97th birthday at the end of November!

Approaching my first year anniversary at Pinebrook, I have several comments that describe my retired life there. The transportation services there are served by Jerry and Chris who are outstanding drivers. They take great care of my wife and I on qualified drives. Lori is the manager of the activities group and she is excellent. I participate in Zumba, Chair Volleyball, and Saturday morning exercises conducted my Ginger. Tops. Maintenance, led my John, is responsive and reliable. Overall, Pinebrook, managed, by Kelly, meets our retirement hopes. Bob Smith, Apt 112

We would like to thank Pinebrook in Ohio and its staff for the past three years for the kindness and helpfulness they have given to our mother. When she moved into independent living, the staff was more than helpful in aiding the transition from being in a home for 60 years. My in-laws moved to Pinebrook Independent Living 9-2016. They moved to the Assisted Living floor December 2017 and remained there until they passed (2-20 and 12-20). I cannot say enough positive things about the nursing staff at PB. Their professionalism, knowledge and caring attitudes helped us take care of my in-laws. They communicated with us so that we could stay on top of their health conditions. With the pandemic restricting our visits, we had to rely on them much more regarding my m-i-ls health. Their suggestions for the extra care needed (hospice eventually) were extremely helpful and appreciated. They worked even harder (and longer hours) during the pandemic but were always positive, joyful and helpful. The Director of Nursing and nurses helped my in-laws live life as they wished to the end. We are very grateful for all they have done.

My in-laws moved to PB 9-16, moved to Assisted Living 12-17 and remained there until they passed this year. The Nursing staff and director were incredible and even more so during the pandemic. Their knowledge, patience anb expertise helped my in-laws live the remainder of their life as they wished. I have found a home away from home within Pinebrook. Everyone from the staff to the residents have welcomed me with warm hearts and open arms into the Pinebrook family. I enjoy working with everyone and meeting all the residents, and getting to know them in these difficult times. It is nice to come into work and feel at home instead of feeling like Im walking into an everyday job and going home drained and distressed. I love the Pinebrook family and everything that Pinebrook stands for.

Mom and Dad have been living at Pinebrook for two months now. We feel like they are safe and well taken care of. Mom is thriving with meeting new people and taking part in activities. As Dads dementia worsens, the staff are doing all they can to keep his quality of life going and taking care of his needs. Thanks to all those who work at Pinebrook, from the nurses to the coordinators and administrators to the people working in the kitchen and cleaning up after everyone!

My mother has lived in the assisted living area at Pinebrook for almost 3 years. The staff is amazing! They truly care about her and her well-being. During the Covid lock-in she has been looked after, and mentally stimulated as well. I sleep well each night knowing that the competent and caring staff at Pinebrook is watching over my mom, while leaving her the independence to manage those things she is capable of. I have not been in her apartment since March, but I am confident that with housekeeping and other staffs assistance, all is well and in order. Special thanks to Jen and Jamie and the nursing staff!

EXTREMELY COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. While searching for retirement communities for both my parents, I met Aimee LaPine at Pinebrook. I dont think Ive ever met a nicer person that was sooo helpful. Even though they could not accomodate the needs of my parents, she helped us locate a couple of communities that could. Then some months later, I mistakenly left a voicemail for another woman named Amy. Guess who took the time to call me very shortly after and let me know my message did not reach the other person - Aimee LaPine, who continues to go above and beyond to help everyone she can ! Thank goodness for Pinebrook! Our parents have lived there for 5 years! The staff is genuinely caring and kind. Our father recently passed away and everyone was so kind to our mother. It has been difficult not to visit mom, but such a relief to know that she is in such capable hands during Covid 19. They have done an amazing job!

I want to give a huge shout out to the staff at Pinebrook. They have done such an amazing job during very difficult times. My sweet momma (Dorothy) is so happy here. Even though I have not been able to be with her since early March, her spirits are still very high. That is only thanks to the staff. I messaged Aimee to help with an issue my mom was having and within minutes of sending the email, the issue was solved. Mom needed to connect to wi-fi to use her Mothers Day gift. Something that may seem so easy to most of us was extremely frustrating to mom. Aimee made her day by getting her connected. Just one example of how they go out of their way to make things work for the residents. Im so happy mom is no longer sitting alone in a condo and now has friends to fill her day. The best decision we ever made for sure. Hopefully the residents can all be back together soon. ❤❤

I have been thinking about the residents and staff during this crisis. I was so happy with our decision to move our parents there. During their five year residence, their levels of care increased and the wonderful staff at Pinebrook would accommodate them with love, kindness and patience. Although my parents werent interested in activities, there was no shortage of them and they were always invited and encouraged to participate. Im confident that the staff is going above and beyond to take care of their ‘family and keep them entertained during this quarantine. My best wishes for everyone to stay healthy and hopefully life will go back to ‘normal soon!

Pinebrook has such a warm, friendly atmosphere. Everyone is family at Pinebrook! I had checked many other places out before deciding on Pinebrook, but Pinebrook definitely has 2 thumbs up by comparison! I have to say that Dennis Curly and the entire staff is absolutely exceptional and is heads above other places with genuinely caring for the residents AND their families.
