This assisted living and memory care community is truly outstanding. The memory care team is compassionate, patient, and highly attentive, creating a safe and supportive environment for residents. So many gaps here to discuss. We have a laundry list of items we need help with but just get told "we'll get to it". We never get any results no matter how many times we ask. I even had a meeting with the Director and now found out she's leaving...Windows won't open, tv not hooked to cable, and not once has a sweeper been run there the entire time we've been here. If it has, it's broken! I bought a sweeper and do it myself now. Blinds are also broken since day one as well. The medical lady (curiously gone now) asked me to not tell my loved ones about extra charges she was going to "place on the account" without notification to us. This was done solely to make her job easier with medication administration. She even asked me not to tell them about it!! Glad I got to it before this happened (Almost went to the police on that one). Refrigerator is broken and needs service since day one. We would move out in a minute but don't wish to cause this burden on our loved ones with such as an extreme change. They kind of have you over a barrel on that one. It may be worth leaving if this continues though. The people who care for the residents don't seem to be the issue, just the entire way this place is managed.

My Mom was at Brookdale for about a year and half and while she was taken care at times I was worried due lack of staff and since she was in the Memory Care unit they were given the same options for activities but I was told they had them. Meals were terrible for a long period of time, bad food, no silverware and cups were not available several times, they were given plastic silverware. Worst of all when my Mom passed away they charged us a 7 day charge even though I had her belongings out within a few days, Administration (Laurie) told me it was standard policy even though policy reads 7 days only if you don't get their belongings out within that 7 day period, if before 7 days you are charged only till the belonging are gone. The Administrator never offered to show me the policy I had to call corporate office for it. Lot of misleading info given when visiting 1st time.

Went on a tour of Brookdale of Mentor yesterday and absolutely fell in love! Beautiful lively place with friendly staff and residents. Looked at smelled great! My guide Caila was absolutely wonderful as well.

Brookdale Mentor provides a safe, caring, homey environment for its residents. It is a beautiful facility that is easy to navigate and has many amenities. I have confidence that my mom is in a protective environment and this reduces family concerns.

My dad just moved in here this month. We have found the place very clean with no smell like some of them have, the staff to all be very pleasant from the minute you walk in the door. They are very helpful and attentive and quick to answer any questions or take care of anything that needs to be taken care of. My dad is doing great there!

I have visited my friend over the last 3 months at Brookdale Mentor, and we speak regularly. This facility has had faulty air conditioning for months. Second floor halls are hot as is the elevator. Her room has not been cleaned for well over a month. The bathroom has not been cleaned, nor has the room been vacuumed. There seems to be some real issues here with little response or action by the management. I understand that this used to be a very pleasant place to live a few years ago, but this is now. This is home for the residents who pay dearly for their rooms and services. I would imagine the people in the corporation who run this facility have air conditioning in the summer and work in clean offices as well as in their homes. The residents in your facility also deserve to live in a healthy environment. Please do your job. LB

I moved my father into Brookdale in May of 2019. I was recently made aware that one of the staff members physically harmed my father by pushing him down, which cause him to fall and hit his elbows, and as a result they bruised and bled. No report was filed. I only became aware of the incident when I asked my father how he got the bruises, and he said he fell when he was pushed. The administration did nothing about this. While the employee did not deny it, she NEVER reported it. The facility was rundown and filthy. My father's room was piled with dust, and the carpet had stains that were never cleaned. The place smelled like urine, as well. It was impossible to get in touch with the staff and doctor. Furthermore, while my father was at Brookdale, he developed swollen legs, and the doctor never got back to us with a reason as to why they were swollen. His new place of residence did an ultrasound on his legs due to the fact that they were swollen and found a blood clot. Brookdale failed to diagnose him properly and did not give him the necessary care. In general, the staff lacks training and education. After moving out, Brookdale did not forward any of my father's records to his new place of residence. The staff was also incredibly rude. Not a single person said bye to my father as he left; rather, they all put their heads down, probably ashamed of the "care" they gave him. I would not recommend placing anyone you care about here, unless you want them to endure filthy living conditions and gross neglect and mistreatment by the staff members.

An amazing staff. I couldn't have asked to have my aunt taken better care of. We experienced all of Brookdale from assisted living to memory care. I saw the challenges they all go through and how they handled themselves. They treated my aunt and her family with the utmost respect. My aunt has passed. But they will always be family to me. Wonderful Community Brookdale Mentor offers wonderful care. I feel good knowing my mom is safe, happy and well cared for. The staff are compassionate and truly care about the residents. The management is responsive and wants to hear from me when something needs corrected. The food is amazing.. I could not be happier!
