I recently attended a bloom bar network event at Sunrise Assisted Living and was truly impressed. The facility is beautiful, with a lovely aquarium of angelfish and discus that sets a serene tone. The d©cor, including a gorgeous bouquet in the lobby, was just perfect. They’re even introducing a resident dog Golden retriever named Promise, which is such a thoughtful touch. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, making everyone feel right at home. Highly recommend!

The care taken for my father is exemplary! He is encouraged to join in activities and reminded of meals when it's time. Everyone there is very friendly and it feels like "home"! Sunrise Senior Living is truly a ray of sunshine during what can be one of the most difficult and consequential life decisions a family makes. My family is at peace knowing my dad is now at Sunrise. From the vibe you get walking in, to the lovely dining experience made possible by their head chef (who worked for decades under Emerald Lagasse), to the caring staff. We know my dad is getting the care he deserves. He is blessed to have Reneisha as his care manager and we also very much appreciate Polly (Dir of Nursing) Katrina (Memory Care Coordinator) Nicole, etc.. This team understands one size does not fit all; they do not give up on finding the best strategies that will work for their clients. You can tell this is more than a job for them. Sunrise was very helpful in making the process of moving my dad into an assisted living facility and their staff members: LJ, Jessica and Polly were very informative, patient and friendly. I am writing this as the son of a female resident who is 99 years old, and mobility limited. The time I have spent on the Sunrise facility is limited to weekly visits and some of my comments are based on conversations with the family resident and other residents I have spoken with. The living facilities at Sunrise of Metairie are in excellent condition. Food and dining are also very good. Medication assistance by Sunrise nurses is very helpful for older residents that may be forgetful about when and how much medication they have taken. The service is pricy but may be well worth it - you have to be the judge. Staff are caring and become very familiar with the resident's needs and personality. Everyone is pleasant and willing to help when asked. Activities are provided for both physical and mental stimulation. Physical health will determine which activities a resident can participate in. All residents are encouraged to participate. Living at Sunrise for older residents who are mobility limited can be a challenge at times. The facility is sometimes short staffed and unable to promptly respond in a timely manner to every resident's request for assistance. Many, if not all residents have the emergency lanyard and the lanyards are also in each room on the walls. A frequent complaint I heard is that response times can be long (more than 10 minutes) when a lanyard is pulled. Food service in the dining room can also be slow. Currently, the food is brought out in courses and the overall service time can be lengthy and tiring for an older resident. Overall, you will pay a premium for care at Sunrise. Sunrise of Metairie sometimes falls short of 5 stars in my rating. However, it does deserve consideration as an above average facility for persons who are considering assisted living.

Welcomed from the start. I did a surprise walk in and instantly was given a tour of the memory care unit with Katrina. Then we scheduled a formal tour with LJ who was informative and could answer all of my questions and concerns to the fullest. We also met with Matt who was also welcoming. The nursing staff was accessible without prior notice and explained the Sunrise system for dementia care From the get go I have felt comfortable having this team care for mom in these difficult circumstances. From the hostess at the front desk to the CNAs on the unit it’s a warm comfortable place for mom.

I did an in-service with the staff there starting with the Administrator all the way down to the marketing director, and it was nice to see the facility was very clean and organized Matt. The Administrator was very engaged with his employees seemed like he had a good work relationship with his staff. They seem to reciprocate back with him in a respectful manner as well as him giving respect back to his staff. The marketing director LJ was great at giving me a tour of the facility and very knowledgeable of selling his product as he was talking about the facility. He seemed very engaging with me as well as his staff. He seems well liked with the residence in the facility. I think this place is top-notch.

We toured this facility because we are planning for our future. We were very impressed with the facility and employees. LJ invited us to join them for brunch on August 24. The was prepared by the excellent Chef on staff and the food and desserts were amazing, especially the gelato made by LJ. It was great to see the interaction between the employees and the residents there. Family members of some of the residents were there, too. Sunrise is at the top of our list whenever it is time for us to move to independent or assisted living.

LJ, Katrina, Polly and the entire staff in the memory care level are excellent. They worked with me and ensured my husband had an easy transition. The communication was excellent to help him adjust to his new surroundings. Great staff, facility, and residents! When the time came for my mother to graduate to assisted care, I visited several retirement communities in the New Orleans metro area and decided on Sunrise of Metairie because L.J., Polly, Brian, and ALL the rest of the staff made my mom feel comfortable right away. This is no easy feat, as my mom tends to get nervous in unfamiliar environments. We both loved the homey feel of the building with added security and technology. I.e. the resident portal, electronic sign-in log, and in-house emergency bracelet. We especially loved the baby grand piano that her grandson will come play when he visits! I am looking forward to the peace of mind of knowing she will be cared for 24/7 and she is excited to meet new people and dive into the many activities on the calendar. We are both glad that we chose Sunrise for this new chapter in her life.

I was very pleased when I visited my friends father that lives at Sunrise. I was greeted by L.J. who showed me the community and I actually got to meet Chef Michael when I ate with my friend's dad at the table. A definite great experience.

The facility seemed nice but I barely noticed, LJ acted like I wasn't important, not only that when we were talking he trash talked every other facility around as well as their administrators, I just wanted to get out of there. He was looking at his phone all the time, dealing with text messages. He was also taking phone calls and leaving me for long periods of time i.e. "to give a paper to someone". Then he acted like a used car salesman "if you commit by Friday I'll knock $3000 off the fees, if by the end of the month $1000" pushing the discount several times during the conversation. Is this the way the residents are treated, "give me your monthly rent then disappear, you're a bother I have better things to do"?

I am beyond pleased with everything so far! I had many sleepless nights with lots of tears worrying about Dad going to any long term facility. He has been at Sunrise for four nights so far. The entire staff have been extremely loving to our family. We feel Dad is safe and he’s being taken care of as we take care of him. He has Alzheimer’s disease & needs assistance for everything and he is receiving it. I love the home feeling that the facility provides. It does not feel like a stuffy business but like a loving family. There is not a time I have visited that someone has not given me a tight squeeze and hug. The caregivers know we are concerned and have reassured us that they will take perfect care of Dad. I absolutely believe they will based on my exposure to them the environment and also watching each and every person on the memory care floor be taken care of with such love and care. Thank God for leading our family to Sunrise! We are so grateful for them!

Met LJ Canal & toured the facility. LJ was terrific, professional, knowledgeable, courteous, friendly, LJ is the whole package. The facility was clean, quiet beautifully decorated & conveniently located, couldn't ask for more!

I can't say enough about the excellent care my Mom received while there at Sunrise of Metairie. From the nurses to the care givers she always received compassionate care with the focus on promoting wellness whether in mind, body or spirit. In addition, their chef is a master of local cuisine preparing gumbos, shrimp poboys, red and beans and rice and so many more. Their activities director is the best at keeping them entertained even during the pandemic quarantine. I would highly recommend Sunrise to any family looking for a place for a loved one.

I must give every person that works there a very sincere Thank You. My 99 year old aunt lived there for 2 years. She was cared for by the nicest people that I have ever dealt with. These people truly want to help the residents. If you or a family member need to move into assisted living, this is the best place to be.

My mom had stayed at Sunrise for two months in 2016. After the evaluation they determined she should be a resident on the memory care floor. She enjoyed having her meals three times a day and enjoyed the outings the residents would take. Weekend activities at the residence were slow and she would be bored most weekends. Family was permitted to visit her fairly often. However we were unimpressed with the fact that the facility didn't always call to tell us when they were out of her medication, as well as the lack of times per week her clothing was washed or her room was cleaned. Often her room smelled because no one had come in to clean. After her two month stay was up, we took her home and implemented a home care program instead.
