Silverado has been such a great experience. We started at an assisted living facility for my father and going from that to Silverado which is specifically geared towards Alzheimer’s has been such a blessing. Silverado has not only met but exceeded every expectation in regards to their care for my father. They are so attentive and keep me updated on any changes and updates. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who has loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia.

Silverado Newport Mesa Memory Care Community My definition of Caregiver is someone that cares for a loved one with empathy, compassion, offers dignity and allows the person to be whom they are during a very difficult transition. The second part of Caregiver is the giving part. How much does the caregiver give of themselves to the person under their care? Do they smile, laugh, offer comfort, have patients, reinsure the resident that they are safe and well cared for while in their care. I saw these traits while my wife was at Silverado Newport Mesa Memory Care from the Caregivers. Cynthia in particular attended to my wife with compassion, empathy, tenderness, and respect. She went out of her way to make sure my wife was comfortable with even little gestures like brushing her hair and adding a broche. She is so sweet and caring to the resident and family members, we love her! Maria Ovando, was another caregiver that went the extra mile by always being available and helping my wife bath, dress her and offer a loving touch. A few other caregivers at Newport Mesa worth mentioning are Destiny, Jonas, and Rubin. They all contributed with an exceptional approach for Caregiving. They all were very gracious with family members and made sure we had the answers to any questions or concerns we may have had. A few other team members that play a pivotal role; Michelle Rojas, Director of Resident Engagement. It is easy to see Michelle’s compassion and love of her position with Silverado. She walks up to a resident and instantly a huge smile appears on their face. If you know anything about memory decline, sometimes it can be difficult to get any emotion out of a patient, but not with Michelle. This gesture exemplifies her dedication to each resident in Silverado. Another staff member is Modesto, Director of Culinary Services. The day my wife entered Silverado, I recall Modesto coming up to me and asking, if I was hungry and would I like something to eat. I was because it was a very busy morning I had not had time to eat, so I said yes. He personally brought me lunch while they attended to my wife. Anytime I saw Modesto, he would ask if I needed anything and if I said yes, he would attend to it. I requesting my wife’s meal plan be modified and he instantly complied. She is not a big eater and most of the time she would not eat all that was presented, Modesto suggested a smaller meal size, which I did not realize was available. My point is, he like most staff members go out of their way to make you and family comfortable. I also would like to mention Hassan Aboukhadijeh, Family Ambassador. While deciding if Silverado is a good match for your loved one, Hassan provides you all the details. He does a fantastic job introducing you and family members to what Silverado has to offer that best meets the level of care for your loved one. After we made the commitment to enter Silverado, Hassan always followed up and wanted to insure we made the right decision. One more thing to mention, if you decide to have a loved one join the Silverado Family, make sure you check out the weekly Support Group every Wednesday afternoon. It helps!

I moved my mother (who has dementia) to Silverado in Costa Mesa a couple weeks ago from another facility. I wish I had done this move sooner (or from the beginning). Everyone at this place is so kind, compassionate, caring and supportive - not just to the residents, but also the families. My mother was unhappy & depressed at her last place. Here, at Silverado, she is thriving and I haven't seen her this happy in years! The activities are amazing and she enjoys them (not just reading them a child's book); they go out on weekly "field trips;" they take the dogs out of the community for walks in the neighborhood (yes, there is a resident pup as well as employees bring their beloved pups). Mom can go outside WHENEVER she wants without guidance or asking permission! My mother is literally thriving here. I was hesitant at first moving her to a new facility, but the staff walked me through the process and made me feel comfortable. Hassan is amazing and was very communicative with me from the beginning. He still is and communicates with me frequently (as does Alejandra & Heather). This place hosts weekly BBQs and invites the family to join (no additional charge). I honestly cannot believe I didn't know of this place sooner. I know mom is safe & my anxiety is almost completely gone with her so happy and living her best life here. I trust everyone at Silverado with every ounce in my body.

My mother has been loved on in this facility for 4 years. This has been a life saver for her and me. She engages in the activities, is so much nicer, so happy. I have never seen her smile and laugh as much as she has since she moved in. She loves all the staff. They are the best. The care givers, culinary, housekeeping, admin, the nurses. I couldn't be happier with my choice for her. She is 94, in a wheelchair and Zumba's.

The community here at Silverado Newport Mesa became a home for my mother. After trying to age in place for 4 years and then the sudden death of my step father - we needed a place for mom (with advancing Alzheimer’s) My search led me here. Silverado home is an open floor plan, with fountains, gazebo and gardens. You smell cookies baking. Light and airy decor with weekly fresh floral arrangements evokes a welcoming spirit. Inside, my mom is supervised with a 24 hour nursing staff that is kind, caring and professional. The caregivers assigned to my mom are angels, I cannot state just how lovely they are. In my experience, all the staff and especially the caregivers here are highly trained in dementia care. It takes a village to turn a dementia care facility into a home for residents to thrive in. I have so much gratitude to all caregivers, the culinary team, activities team, housekeeping, laundry, administrative, maintenance, everyone! My mom has been living here for just over a year now. While my mother is fighting this disease, she is surrounded by caring professionals here at Silverado Newport Mesa that treat her with respect, love and dignity. I couldn’t be happier with Silverado. When I visit my mother here, I am happy to just be a daughter again.

After an extensive and emotional search for the right memory care facility for my husband, I am deeply grateful to have found Silverado Newport Mesa Memory Care Community. When I walked through the doors for my initial tour, I felt a sense of comfort, relief and reassurance that I had found a place that truly understands the needs of those living with dementia “ and the emotional journey that loved ones go through alongside of them. The staff at Silverado are not just professional “ they are incredibly kind, compassionate, patient and attentive. Every single employee and volunteer at Silverado consistently treat my husband with dignity, respect and genuine care. They always maintain a calm, positive and cheerful demeanor, always accompanied by a smile. The facility itself is clean, secure and thoughtfully designed for both safety and independence and evokes a warm home-like atmosphere. The indoor and outdoor communal areas provide peaceful spaces for residents and the environment always feels positive and engaging. I especially appreciate the communication from the staff. They keep me updated regularly and I always feel welcome to visit or call with questions. Silverado Newport Mesa also provides tremendous support for the loved ones of the residents. They always ask me how I’m doing and offer up the best hugs if needed. I also feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of their weekly support group. It has helped me navigate the Silverado community and has provided me with the emotional support I never knew I needed. This group has become a safe place to share experiences, access guidance and make new connections. Though moving my husband to a facility was one of the most difficult decisions of my life, I feel peace knowing that my husband is in a place where he is cared for and valued. I would wholeheartedly recommend Silverado Newport Mesa to any family navigating the deeply personal and challenges of memory care.

My father has been living at Silverado for 3 months now. I *never* expected that we would find such an attentive, skilled, patient staff. They already "get" dad on so many levels - it's like they have known him for years. Dementia has made him into a grumpy skeptic, but over time the staff have managed to gain his trust and bring some bright spots into his day. Not an easy task! It's very clear that these people are not only skilled professionals, but are truly living out their purpose on a deep level by helping people suffering from dementia. The people that see Dad every day have a very sophisticated knowledge of how to relate to the residents as individuals. Their level of empathy and good humor in the face of such difficult work is astonishing. Every time we are there we witness the most lovely interactions between residents and staff. The staff also seems to all get along very well with each other and provide support to each other. If you're reading this, you are unfortunately facing the difficult process of moving your loved one into memory care. I can't tell you that it will be easy or that there are miracles to be had, but I can share that your loved one will be in very caring hands with this team of beautiful humans. Thank you to Michelle, Heather, Alejandra, Julie, Joshua, Modesto, Joanna... I have certainly missed some folks so apologies!

My mom and I moved my father into Silverado Newport Mesa a few weeks ago. I waited to write this review until I could see how he transitioned throughout the entire process. Now that he has been there for one month, I can say with even more certainty, this was the right decision, at the right location! While this is never an easy process for anyone, I can't write and share enough positives about Silverado, and the team they have in place. Lourdes has been an incredible administrator, showing guidance and direction from the moment we met her. Most special of all to me...she made sure my mom was cared for and loved on, even though she wasn't moving in, but her husband was, as he moved out of the house they'd shared together for nearly 50 years! Christina and her passion for my dad's well-being were evident from day one. Her constant communication has been a source of great comfort for my mom! Breanna, and the medical team of care-givers have been nothing but patient, caring, supportive, and kindhearted. I wish I could remember more names, and include them of others we’ve seen so far on visits, they’ve all been fantastic! The most special part of Silverado is they’re a team, they’re all about making sure their residents are treated well and loved on as if they were their own family, and Silverado is now becoming our own extended family. Silverado was the first location we checked out, and as we investigated other facilities after, we ended up comparing everywhere else to this location, and nobody else came close. If I could give 6, 7, or 11 stars I would, because they’ve earned it!

I highly recommend Silverado for patients with dementia/Alzheimer’s. My mom was a resident there for the last year of her life. The staff are compassionate and highly skilled in working with patients who have severe memory loss. We had my mom in another care facility and we ended up moving her to Silverado after only a few months. I’m so glad we found it!

Since this is all new to me and my family and like everyone else with limited resources to find a right facility I came to Google and found this location and of course great reviews. Unfortunately due to limited funds and the fact that this facility is private my mother doesn't qualify to be here but that's when an amazing lady named Stephanie Cali took my call and she was a voice of guidance, kindness and the support I had been looking for. She took my call and spoke to me well over 20 minutes guiding me and giving me contact information location etc that can possibly help with my mom's care. My mother has lived here for 5 years. The staff has been generous and loving to a fault. Dementia is a difficult disease, they decline at a glacial pace. Mom had the independence to walk miles and miles within the safe gardens and halls for the first two years she lived there. This was amazing because in our home we had to lock her in to keep her from eloping. My mother is musical and she has really loved all the various singing and dancing opportunities she has been provided. This is not a medical facility or a rest home. Those are places she will need eventually. For now this is a good safe community for her to live as independently as she can. I loved all the pets who moved here along with residents. There are dogs and cats and birds and rabbits. In the summer, the kids of staff tend to these animals and cuddle up on the sofas with good books. It feels very home like.

My husband, Oliver, was a resident of Silverado Newport Mesa from August 2013 to the day he passed on February 16, 2017. It has taken me nearly a year to process this loss, so I haven't had a chance to show my gratitude to the staff at Silverado because grief has clouded my thoughts. In short, the staff at Silverado became my family. They showed more love, acceptance, understanding, and support than anyone else. I couldn't have traveled this painful journey without them. The caregivers, especially Maria, who loved Oliver like a father, were always helpful and diligent....truly they are the front line in the war on memory care. The charge nurses were also supportive and responsive, always discussing Oliver's care with me in an honest and gentle manner. At the very end of his life, the hospice staff shined like stars, helping us through the hardest part of the process...losing Oliver. Rowena led the charge, constantly supporting us and providing exceptional care for Oliver. And Gayle provided loving, persistent, and gentle spiritual guidance as our chaplain. The experience was both painful and beautiful. Words can't express how much they touched our hearts. There are so many good and loving people on the staff at Silverado Newport Mesa that I can't begin to name or thank them all. Silverado is the gold standard for memory care...thank you! ....Roberta Edwards
