I’ve been going here frequently for about 18 months to visit a friend who is a resident in the senior nursing building. The grounds are pretty, the interior tasteful and clean and am told by several the meals are good. My only complaint is skeletal staff during many shifts. It upsets me in any medical setting when a patient be ignored in a time of need. Hire more medical staff please!

Thank you Bayshire Riverwalk for helping us find placement for my uncle. Selecting a proper Memory Care facility can be challenging. There are so many variables. Courtney Veatch made the process easy to understand and smooth. Overall the facility has met our expectations. The staff is friendly. The campus is well kept. The room our uncle lives in is quite nice. Thank you for helping to make a challenging situation easier.

Martha and the team at Brookdale in Bakersfield are wonderful! My 93 year old Aunt was living alone in a a two story condo prior breaking her ankle and wasn't keen on the idea of moving. After a 3 month stint in physical rehab (during Covid) we convinced her to move to Brookdale as her only family lived thousands of miles away. After a little adjustment to new surroundings boy did she shine!. The staff really got her out and about, joining activities and she found a new zest for life. The medical team kept good tabs on her needs, and even managed the Dr. Appointments and arranged transportation. It was a great relief for us to knowing she was safe 24/7.

Review is for building A. My Nana lived here for 2 years. My praises are most the staff did seem friendly and my Nana seemed happy with the staff. I love all the different activities they have going on. My complaints are extremely expensive to live there then the CEO wants to ask the residents to pay for the employees bonus and for candy, etc for Easter, Halloween events. I am sorry but for $5100 a month, you pull that money from your bonus instead of asking residents to cover it. The kitchen lady who is manager is absolutely rude and needs to smile. We paid an extra $841 a month for meds to be given to my Nana but most the time her meds would get lost or she would be given them late. Again, $5100 a month that shouldn’t be happening. We had to move my Nana out last week because there was a rent increase and we no longer could afford her living there.

I really love Brookdale Riverwalk. The residents and staff are very friendly so that we feel that we are all family! The staff is open to hearing our concerns and suggestions. They are open to incorporating suggestions we might have. Special events are planned to add to the fun. Live music events are planned at least twice a week. Transportation for shopping or appointments is available. A variety of good food is available on the menus in the dining room from 7am to 6 pm with a one hour break in the afternoon. We appreciate the apartment cleaning and laundry service. All that I have mentioned is included in the monthly rent. Brookdale Riverwalk is really a wonderful place to live!

We visited most of the retirement homes in Bakersfield and felt Brookdale was the best for my mother. I was apprehensive when we moved her in about her getting lost or being happy. She moved into her new apartment in April. All of the employees are five star and always greet her by her name. They are loving and caring. They have so many wonderful activities for the residents. Today they had a wonderful luncheon with flat iron steak and shrimp. My mother dances in the line dancing and the exercise class. I never would have thought she would do that. They have so much for them to do everyday. She plays bingo four times a week and gets her nails done. Her apartment gets cleaned and too many things to list. I am so happy that my wonderful mother is happy and I no longer have to worry about her. Move to Brookdale and be happy like my mother. You will be happy too.

Mom has been a resident of Clare Bridge at Riverwalk since April 2023. The staff of Brookdale are amazing, keeping mom engaged in activities, talking with her, remembering her stories, communicating with us, and keeping her safe every day. Brookdale's management team is approachable, helpful and caring - they have been there for our family every time we have questions or worries. It gives us great peace of mind to know that Mom is in a clean, safe place with people who show genuine care and concern for her well-being.

My mother-in-law is in memory care in the Clare Bridge facility at Brookdale Riverwalk. She just turned 95. Previously she was in the assisted living facility where she had a stroke and was transferred to the skilled nursing care facility for a short period. It was very helpful to have all of these levels of care in one place. It is reassuring for people with dementia to be surrounded by a familiar place no matter what is happening with their health. Everybody knows her and says hello when we take her out in the wheelchair. The caregivers in Clare Bridge are attentive, loving and patient with all their charges. People are moved from their beds wherever possible to be part of the community in the living room or recreation room. My husband and I rest assured that she is treated with as much care as we ourselves would give to her. The support staff is always friendly and ready to lend an ear as soon as we walk in the door to sign in at reception. We are very happy about the choice we made for her longterm care.

I would like to say that I’m getting concerned about my moms mental state and social well being . She’s been there almost 3 weeks in the rehabilitation department (skilled nursing) . She has gotten more and more isolation and due to her being legally blind and limited on being able to still do things to make her feel better about her daily wishes . She lays in bed almost all day without even sometimes having any company from family or friends for days at a time . This place is way understaffed and seems my mother waits for help from a nurse after pushing the service button to use the restroom and half the time she’s had no choice but to have an accident and she sits for someone to come clean her up , she recently diagnosed and was positive for a UTI and I’m wondering if she will ever get better attention , will they hire more help for patients like her.

We are VERY happy with the decision to move our uncle to Brookdale Riverwalk. The facility is clean and secure and all of the residents seem so happy when we are there visiting. He is extremely happy with this decision as well, especially the food (options and recipes) which are much better than his old place. 7.2022 UPDATE: Still absolutely loving it. My other uncle is now in the memory care building and my aunt has referred 2 more friends that are very happy as well. So far 4 happy people that have nothing but good things to say. Keep up the good work. They are a family here and treat your family just like that. It cannot be an easy job and no place you find will be perfect but if you find anything that makes you unhappy, just give them a chance to make things right. LOVE IT!!!

This is about the dining room at Brookdale. Christie and her team are amazing! They always serve very good food and a variety. I'm a picky eater and from day one they have been more than accommodating to me. All this is done with a smile and caring. They truly look at each resident as family and strive to make everyone happy. I'm thankful for everyone who is working so hard everyday all day

My mom loves it here, she’s been a tenant for about a year nowshe loves the food and the people and she loves that her room and laundry get cleaned every week. She is always telling me how wonderful and caring the staff is. We have zero complaints! The landscaping is beautiful and inside of the buildings always look, smell, and feel very clean and fresh. From the sales/billing team to the nurses and front desk staff - I’ve always been met with the utmost kindest of people. Please check it out for yourself and don’t go off of negative reviews because Brookdale has been an absolute blessing to our whole family and gives us the peace of mind we’ve been needing.

This community is great! They love the residents and treat them with the respect and affection they deserve! Throughout the pandemic, they took the best care of the residents and made sure everyone was being safe and secure. The events are amazing! This is the Best Facility Around! But.... That being said.... I urge any and all family of a loved one that ever has to go to the Hospital, or a Skilled nursing facility to be involved!!! Period!! Know what is going on? Learn! Be present, ask questions!! Know what you can do to help, bath, feeding, visit, wash clothes, restroom visit?? Be involved in the care and you will see results! Please don't be foolish as to think all is done, because it is not, there ALL OVERWORKED! I promise!! They work!! But they have a lot of sick patient's and alot to get done, and everything takes time when you're in there! So please help out!! Be kind, be visible, and be quite for the other patients. Oh and Most of all LEAVE YOUR KIDS HOME! ITS THE DIRTIEST PLACE FOR SICKNESS GERMS, THE FLOOR IS NIT CLEAN PEOPLE!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE STAY HOME WITH THE KIDS!!!

They have iPads you can check out and use free of charge. I watch Netflix's and you the many computer games provided. It keeps me occupied during any down time I may have. Also bingo and other actives are provided.

Good Luck trying to get a hold of your loved ones!! I called multiple times, staff on phone wouldn't let me finish a sentence (ex. s/he's in building "X" in room numbe..... *transfer*). Repeat this process - I went through 5 and sometimes even 6! transfers multiple times before their system just hung up on me. every. single. time. I'm trying to call a grandparent and after 40 minutes of trying I have to give up... very upsetting. I really hope they treat their actual patients better...
