As a resident of Sunrise Westlake I feel able to give this review based on my experience of living here for over 6 months. Residents are friendly & welcoming. The staff & caregivers are attentive to residents care & well-being.There are daily events & games as well socials & entertainment on a weekly basis. The buildings & grounds are lovely with walking paths & an abundance of flowers. Our Executive Director, Edith Kennedy, has a belief in "Residents care & happiness first". Towards this goal she has as 'Open Door' policy & is always interested in listening & helping residents with their concerns. Chef Dennis & his staff are exceptional - the only problem is I've gained 5 lbs. since my arrival! Please come visit us here at Westlake Sunrise - you'd be most welcome. Peggy

I toured a number of assisted living facilities when I was looking for the right fit for my father earlier this year. I immediately got a wonderful feeling from Sunrise. Unlike all the others which were more closed off from the world, Sunrise is so bright and sunny with huge front windows and porches to welcome in the light and the outside world. It feels like a beautiful Victorian home, whereas some others feel more like a cold apartment. But more importantly of course was the warmth I felt from the staff. It was clear that they value the residents and treat them with respect and caring. That was my initial feeling but now that my dad has lived there for 6 months I can say I am even happier with the choice. I truly trust that my dad is cared for. The staff are incredibly diligent and so kind and warm with the residents. I feel very lucky to have found Sunrise for my dad.

My step dad passed away of covid and taking care of my mom properly was beyond my means. My step sister mentioned looking in Sunrise Assisted living as she had had experience with one of thier San Diego locations. I went to the Westlake Village facillity and i was impressed by the staff, the rooms, activity schedules and location. So mom's in a first floor flat and what I didn't check when checking her in was the food! Sunrise invites you stay for some meals but I assumed that the 3 meals a day would be excellent. Wrong! That was back in 2022 but in early 2024 Edith Kennedy, came in as the new Executive Director. My mom really likes the food nearly every day. Also the nurses at the facillity appear to be even more helpful at rehab excercises and subsequent feedback. These significant improvements are new and I want to congraulate Edith on these changes. She is awesome and very approachable. Last if you are considering this facillity I want to share some of my moms favorites with you…. The area is safe and suitible for walking around the compound or to restaurants, markets 1/4 mile away which my passes by on her walks. I set up a 2nd set of eyes on my moms health and Dr Iqbal visits her and other residents the 2nd Monday of every month. Celebrations are easy with Finneys, Zins, Cafe Bizou, Brents Deli, the Hyatt Regency and the Four Seasons nearby. And Costco is 1 mile away. It's never an easy decision, but when the time came to move mom to a memory care facility, we chose Sunrise of Westlake Village. Best decision ever. The care they provided mom was extraordinary. The staff is extremely experienced and compassionate - the majority have been there for many years. As issues came up, they worked with us to provide immediate solutions to make sure mom remained safe and comfortable. They always answered my many questions, provided regular updates and took time to explain their approach in how they were caring for mom. One day I arrived to find mom with a caregiver singing to her with the voice of an angel. It brought tears to my eyes. This is truly a special place. I would not hesitate to recommend Sunrise of Westlake Village for your loved one. My only regret - not bringing her to Sunrise sooner.

I met Sunrise on my trip to California this last month, I live in Spain. I have gone to visit Soraya with my cousin and although Soraya's state of health is unfortunate, I have to say that I found the facilities to be beautiful and the human quality of the staff is incredible. I am aware that there are patients whose condition makes dealing with them not easy, but I can say that I wish I could live in a place like this, I have physical problems and frankly I would be very happy in a place like this. Unfortunately I am very far away but I have to admit that the place, both inside and out, is frankly beautiful.

I toured so many assisted living facilities in the area and none of them compared to Sunrise of Westlake Village. The others were nice but during the tour at Sunrise we saw so many smiling staff, happy residents, and a clean community. You could tell the staff truly enjoyed what they do, highly recommend Sunrise of Westlake Village.

Everyone was so kind, patient and supportive of us as we navigated the end of my mother's life. Within two days of moving into Sunrise, my mother's health and happiness improved dramatically. She went from totally bedridden and nearly always asleep to active, alert and happy. Once again, she smiles, laughs, and enjoys interacting with family, other residents, and Sunrise's wonderful staff. Thanks to Carol, Hannah, Malia and everyone at Sunrise, Westlake Village.

Years ago we searched high and low for the best Assisted Living environment for my mother in law. Sunrise Westlake Village was the best that we could find. Recently I repeated the search for my Aunt. Sunrise is still the best that I could find. In a strange way, visiting there again, to me it feels like coming home. The facility is fantastic, the staff is great and Zak is a very solid Director who gets things done and is willing to say no when it is appropriate.

Sunrise WLV is one of my favorite facilities to go to as a home health therapist. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, the facility itself is beautiful, clean and so well maintained. The residents that I give therapy to tell me how much they enjoy living there, from the activities, the food , and the staff. They have nothing but great things to say. Our mom has been at Sunrise in Westlake for two years. She is in the memory unit and she is receiving compassionate care. They are kind and committed to keeping her safe. They meet her where she is at moment to moment and keep her as active as possible. The physical layout of the unit and availably of technology have prevented her from leaving the unit, unlike another nearby facility. We truly have peace of mind knowing that she is receiving the best care possible and is safe.

The Executive Director, Zak, is wonderful at providing customer service and addressing questions. Ethel went into Sunrise of Westlake after a bad fall while visiting her two sons and family in California. She was 103 at the time. The level of care and love she received while recovering was excellent. After a few weeks, it became apparent that she belonged in this loving community. The activities presented and friendships that she was establishing was just what the Dr ordered On Thursday Jan 13th at 105 years old she took her final breath. A special shout out to Lindsey, Nella, Bobby, Ramone, Marco, Tara and Zach. I'm sure there are many others, but thank you one and all.

Finding the right place for our 95 year-old independent-living uncle was no mean task, especially because he did not want to leave his home of 28 years. From the time we began exploring assisted living, in September 2020, we were impressed by Sunrise of Westlake Village. Lisa Holt, Sales Director, and her staff were very open, honest, and caring in helping us understand the facilitys rooms, costs, and services. They were very patient with me as the family pleaded with my uncle to move to a place where he could receive the assistance that he needed. It was only when he became too ill to care for himself properly that he finally agreed to move, but that was too late. Unfortunately, he passed away just days before his planned move to Sunrise, but we have nothing but good things to say about the facility and its management team. In addition to the sales team, Kevin Williams, Assisted Living Coordinator, was truly impressive when, amidst the movers on move-in day, he dropped by the room himself to welcome us and go over details as to who were my uncles designated caregivers, laundry arrangements, and other routine but important matters. He left nothing to chance, and we appreciated that. Also, the ladies at the Concierge Desk were so polite whenever we had a question. Sunrise of Westlake Village is a first-class assisted living operation and I highly recommend it.

My mother-in-law was in Memory Care here. They also offer assisted living, which is very similar, but on a separate floor. The place seems more like a nice hotel than an elder care center, with beautiful grounds, winding paths, and even bunnies! This was the second place she was in memory care, and there is no comparison. The staff here is so caring and professional. They keep in regular touch with the residents families, and spend a tremendous amount of time on enrichment activities with each resident. The food is excellent, and was served in a restaurant-like environment before the pandemic. Now it is catered to each room They also hosted a private birthday lunch in one of their small dining rooms for our family and my mother-in-law. Since the pandemic they have done a marvelous job of keeping residents safe. Most of the staff and management have been here a long time, and its easy to see why.

Its been a month since the passing of my mother, and Im reflecting on the two years she spent at Sunrise. Considering her lifestyle and the desire to perpetuate the independence she was accustomed to it was evident she would have a difficult transition moving into an assistant living facility. Through the patient and perseverant effort of the Sunrise care staff she slowly adapted to her new life. The sensitivity and willingness to accommodate her needs and desires by the staff was truly admirable. Being a frequent visitor to Sunrise, I was able to assess first-hand how she was treated and served. I concluded we had found a place which was quite suitable for her situation. The care takers exceeded the expected norm of how they performed their job as it related to my mother. They all made an extra effort to personally comprehend my mothers idiosyncrasies, and interface with her accordingly, always ready to help and please. I was particularly impressed by the show of sympathy and sincere sorrow each of the aforementioned care takers demonstrated during the last three days of my mothers life as she rested in her room. It was very moving.

Our father moved to assisted living In July, only to pass away 2 months later, so our experience was brief, but chaotic, and the staff helped at every twist and turn of the journey. They are warm, knowledgeable and responsive. I would recommend Zak, Kevin, Tara, Kathy and the rest of the crew highly.

Senior residency simply doesnt get any better than this! Offering both Assisted Living and Memory Care services, Sunrise of WV is absolutely beautiful and reminds one of a gracious hotel with many inviting rockers on a shaded, quiet colonnade overlooking the Santa Monica Mountains. The grounds are extensive to allow residents to stroll and enjoy the fresh country air. The Assisted Living dining area is lovely with restaurant style service; the food is varied and delicious. A dedicated nursing staff is on site. Prior to COVID-19, many enriching activities and excursions were planned everyday. I am confident these will return in full force once the pandemic has been tamed. Their staff has bent over backwards to be vigilant and responsive to the shifting needs of keeping their residents safe. My mother spent her last year on their Memory Care floor. It is very thoughtfully designed with their special needs in mind. For their security, they are not allowed off the floor without escort but they have many great accessible common areas including a wonderful 3rd floor outdoor patio with beautiful views. But I have left the best for last. And that is their flat out amazing staff! Sadly for so many elder facilities, for the staff it is just a job, but for the Sunrise WV staff it is a calling. They are across the board some of the most dedicated folks I have ever been privileged to meet.; a vast majority of their staff and management have been there for many years. I was responsible for my mothers care but I actually reside in Florida. I visited often and without warning and unfailingly found her perfectly cared for. They reached out to me with updates on a regular basis. If I move back to California in my later years, without question this is where I would want to go.

All staff and personnel are very respectful and helpful. The facility is well maintained and very inviting. The rooms are bright and comfortable and the common areas are nicely decorated in very good taste. We are considering Sunrise of Westlake for my mother-in-law who has advanced dementia and I believe it will provide her with the care and stimulation she needs to continue her life in comfort and safety.

When you walk into Sunrise Westlake Village, you will see smiling faces on the residents and the staff. The resident are active, whether they are participating in the many wonderful activities that are planned, sitting and visiting with family and friends, or peacefully enjoying the beautiful surrounding. Families are always visiting, the staff is warm, welcoming, caring and attentive. The Community is clean and bright. I would definite recommend Sunrise Westlake Village.

Elder care is a miserable necessity. But I can confidently recommend Sunrise of Westlake Village under Director Royce, because of their current caring and clever staff. My mother with Alzheimer's has resided on the 3rd floor (Memory Care) at Sunrise for over a year. I cannot speak to the value of Sunrise's services since my father pays the bills. I am comfortable knowing my mom's physical and emotional needs are met with compassion, patience and humor here. The staff will meet with family, speak candidly - one on one and genuinely like caring for the elderly. It takes HUGE effort to visit often and to personally interact with this large staff (which is a must - anywhere). You get back what you put into this. Participating is an investment. Sunrise encourages family to join residents for meals, go on field trips, bring pets for visits and even sleep over! There are issues too at Sunrise. Staff changes happen and upset the systems. Policy for paperwork depends on who you ask. "No-Salt diets are close to impossible to adhere to anywhere. Residents clothes go missing often (my mom's new favorite fuscha sweater came from someone else's closet). I'm told my mom likes to curl up in bed at night with her roommate! Her missing eye glasses were found in a flower pot. Dementia is craziness. Sunrise's support group and staff have helped me to learn new ways to relate to and comfort my mom.
