I placed my husband here for the last few months of his life after battling Alzheimer's for 8 years. He was treated as a normal human being with dignity, care and love. Activities were adapted for what he was able to do, meals were pretty good and safety was a priority. I would not hesitate to recommend Villages to anyone and if I had to do it over he would be placed there again.
September 2022
I was a coherent, able to communicate patient for 5 days. I was admitted from HRH ICU in June 2022. I had been on a ventilator for 11 days due to pneumonia and other complications. The staff could barely speak English and I'm not sure they even had their visas or had acquired their American citizenship. During the day shift, it was bearable. After 3 pm each day when the shifts changed, it was a nightmare. I was unable to walk and no one came to assist me for my personal needs and when they did.....it was too late. The meals were okay when I could get someone to help me as I could not use my hands or arms. On the evening of the 5th, they realized I was extremely ill. There was never a doctor on staff. They had to call 911 for an ambulance as the nursing staff did not have the equipment nor the knowledge or training to administer emergency care (I.e. IV fluids, medicine, etc.). I was transported back to HRH ICU. I had contracted serious infections from the Village of Avon. DO NOT place a loved one in this facility.
