This review is long overdue. We've been part of the Villa St. Benedict family for several years now, and if I’ve learned one thing in that time, if you have a relative who requires truly selective, attentive, and compassionate care, this is exactly where you want them to be. Every single person I’ve encountered here has gone above and beyond—not just once, but consistently. A perfect example of this culture happened recently when I was moving a mattress into my aunt’s apartment. It was 7:30 at night, snowing, and I was fully prepared to struggle through it alone. Cindy saw what I was doing and immediately dropped everything she was working on to come help me. That moment perfectly reflects this community: people who genuinely care and step up, even when no one is watching. The care team is equally exceptional. A year ago, my aunt experienced a fall, and the staff—especially the on-site nurse, Sonila—guided us through every step with patience and clarity. They truly have hearts of gold. They were flexible and supportive in ways that made a difficult situation feel manageable for EVERYONE involved. To be transparent, my aunt is someone who knows exactly what she wants. She has very high standards and can be quite particular, which means she isn’t always the easiest resident to please. Yet, the team at Villa St. Benedict treats her with unwavering patience, respect, and kindness. There is simply no better place for someone who needs that specific balance of structure and compassion. Her favorite things about living here really say it all: the incredible staff, the friendly residents, and the peaceful on-site chapel. She also raves about the food! Thank you!

My 88 year old mother was very resistant in moving out of her home after my father passed. As is the story for many people, I realize. Giving mom six months to live on her own to come to the realization that being dependent on other people was very difficult; my search began. I researched places around my house in Naperville and narrowed it down to two. When I showed my mom both places she really liked Villa Saint Benedict. From The very start in meeting with Cindy and going through what was needed to move her in, setting up the movers of which they recommended, the actual move-in day, and the ability to use two complementary hours of maintenance help in hanging pictures. The entire process was seamless and she is overjoyed at how friendly everybody is there and willing to help. I realize the buy-in at Villa Saint Benedict can turn some people off. But please note that it’s based on the size of your unit and the family and or resident will get 90% of that money back upon leaving Villa Saint Benedict. That is if they are moved to a new facility or if your loved one passes away. And I have to say on a personal note my twin sons both worked at Villa Saint Benedict during high school as servers and always raved about the food. Now we have firsthand experience that the food is outstanding quality! So please consider Villa Saint Benedict in Lisle if you are looking for independent or assisted-living for your loved one. you will not be disappointed.

My mother in law has been here for 5 years. Started in assisted living then transferred to memory care 1 year ago. ALL of the staff have been the most caring and compassionate people. We truly got to know the memory care staff - talk about angels on earth. The staff love our mother like family. Highly recommend placing your loved one here. The nurses, aides, housekeepers, beauty salon, every single staff person who works here are INCREDIBLE! We’re incredibly blessed to have Cheryl and Abena regularly care for her. We love Villa St Benedict- they will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you VSB!

Washer, dryer and dishwashers were in units (independent) also assisted living services available in your independent unit so you don't have to move if you need assistance later. Also liked that we could pay to upgrade floors, appliances and countertops if we wanted to.

The only drawbacks are that there is intense rivalry to get in, that there might not be space in Assisted Living or Memory Care when that becomes necessary, and that the independent living side's elevators move a little slowly.

My mother who lives in Sun City, AZ called me the other day and wants to move here. She is a life long Catholic and wants to be cared for from a facility such as this. I keep telling her that i will look into this place to verify she could be cared for properly. my mother who has Multiple Sclerosis is not able to car for herself on a daily basis and needs help with basis daily needs. Im not sure this place can help. Is this strictly an Assisted living facility only?

It was at that point, that my brothers and even my mom said she couldnt live by herself anymore. Normally people are very reluctant to move into an assisted facility, but my mom actually picked this place out about a year ago. Getting her in during Covid was not easy, but Phyllis Kramer worked with us non stop for several days, finding an apartment for her. There were many covid related things we needed to get done, and afterwards she got in.I must say that my mother is so happy she chose VSB as her memory care facility. My brothers and i also have definite peace of mind knowing my mom is getting the absolute best care. From the paperwork that needed to be done, to the move in everything went smoothly. My mother loves the food here as well. Shes actually put on a few pounds. The nursing staff and the CNAs are top notch. They do above and beyond. Theyre also doing a great job with their Covid rules.Everyday the residents get a calendar of events for the day, and my mom is gone all day trying new things, walking the grounds which are amazing, and sounds so happy when we speak with her. Shes a whole new person. We have bi monthly meetings with a member from each department to discuss how my mom is, and her progression with the disease.I no longer have to worry about her non stop, and were so very grateful for everyone at VSB.

VSB has a friendly, helpful and responsible staff. VSB was a terrific home for my mother in law for 2 years. From the day she moved in to the day she left to move into our home; everyone made her and our family feel welcome. From the staff to the friendly residents...all had smiles, open arms (now being socially distant responsible!) and fun stories of their experiences living together at VSB. My mother in law said I wish I had moved in sooner!

I was told by an administrator that the residents in Independent Living are not allowed to leave their apartments for any reason unless they go to a scheduled activity. The communication is lacking. When a family member moved in, the person was told the entire building was theirs and the resident liked to walk. It is too cold in our climate to walk outside in the winter. The nurse told me the resident was "wandering around the building." I didn't realize the policy had changed. The furnishings are beautiful but there doesn't seem to be a lot of engagement. I looked at Assisted Living there and only four residents were engaged. The rest were in their rooms. It's not the right place for everyone and the communication is sorely lacking, even about medicines to be given to the residents. Many many staff members were very caring but it's not the place of choice for everyone.
