As a senior adult who lives independently, I went to Atria Sunnyvale in an effort to plan ahead if I ever were to need a living situation where assistance was available. What a gem! It is clean, well-organized and super-friendly. One of the best selling points is that the majority of the staff has been there for several years - people in health care service stay around when they feel they are making a contribution to the people they serve. The facilities are cozy and readily accessible. The dining room is open all day so residents can set their own dining schedule. The funding arrangement is a mon-to-month rental and fees are very reasonable. There are lots of activities for people to participate in if they choose to do so. There are also lots of quiet places to simply "be" - in a quiet room or a quiet courtyard. The staff is positive and energetic with just the right amount of attention and caring to encourage and support the residents but also to respect the individual resident's decision-making options. I am not ready to move in but Atria Sunnyvale is certainly on my list of possible "excellent choices" in the future.

My sister and I had to make the sudden and unexpected decision to transition our mom into assisted living, and after a great deal of searching and research, we chose Atria. From the moment she arrived, we felt we had made the right decision”the facility is clean and welcoming, the staff are kind, friendly, and professional, and the medical team was attentive in placing her at the right level of care. As our mom has improved and become more independent, management has been very supportive in helping us adjust her care plan to meet her changing needs. It has been comforting to see her in a great location, making friends, and receiving such thoughtful care.

Awesome help with hosting a 100th birthday party!! Special praise to Rosalba for making this a special and memorable time. Family members that came from Hawaii and Oregon and locally were treated to balloons, cake, ice cream and song in a semi-private setting to honor our matriarch on her 100th!

When searching for an assisted living facility for my mom, we looked for a place that felt like home. We chose Atria because of all the facilities that we toured, it felt like home. The entire staff is very capable and empathetic. Many have worked here for over 20+ years. From the reception desk, caregivers, housekeeping, maintenance, housekeeping, activity directors through management, all are inclusive and know each resident and address them by name. The caregiving staff work diligently to ensure my mother’s needs are met. Wherever you are in the facility, you are greeted with a hello and a smile. The warm environment has made my mother’s transition to assisted living as smooth as possible.

Our Mother came here last year after things went sideways at her previous facility nearby. She moved into a one bedroom to start with as they were currently booked across the board.. A nice studio came up a few months later and we were able to move her to that room punctually and without any problems, and with help from all those involved with Mom's move. Since she has been here she and our family have nothing but good and wholesome things to say about the Caregivers, the Housekeeping team , the Staff as well as the administration for helping our 97 year old Mother feel Cared for and loved here at Atria Sunnyvale. I moved my brother in last Thursday, after touring the week before and understanding what Atria Sunnyvale has to offer. My experience with the process was much easier than I had anticipated. (it was an unknown to me). Both Nancy (sales director) and Flavio (Exec. Director) were kind, patient and provided clear information and instructions. We were able have new furniture shipped directly them and had time to set it up. The residents were offered a lot of activities daily , mostly in 30-minute increments, both physical, entertainment and learning opportunities that I think works well for my brother and the community at large. There was also a robust schedule of events to keep everyone and families involved. The staff (activities director, medical help, restaurant staff) were very patient and knew the residents well. I had dinner with my brother twice now and saw that staff were helpful and knew what some of residents wanted without asking. I am glad to have found this assisted living facility and know that my brother will be well cared for. Thank you.

Atria Sunnyvale is a good, reasonably priced, caring assisted living facility. I chose this place for three reasons: First it is close to my home; second it has a restaurant menu for lunch and dinner if you do not like the two entre choices on the daily menu; thirdly it is reasonibly priced.

My mom has been at Atria Sunnyvale for a little over a month and has been extremely happy there. She suffered a fall and subsequent surgery and spent a number of months in a sub-acute care facility. She needed to work on regaining mobility, so we were looking for a community where she would be able to get the assistance that she needed, but was flexible enough that assistance could be given as needed, and reduced over time as she regained strength and mobility lost from months in a hospital bed. My father in law was in memory care (not at Atria) until he passed fairly recently, so we were not unfamiliar with the kinds of facilities, services, and important considerations to look for in a community. One thing we learned from experience with memory care is that a revolving door of management, caregivers and other staff is a big red flag. Your loved one's experience can turn from good to not good almost overnight when turnover, especially of management and caregivers, is high. One of the big positives at Atria Sunnyvale is continuity of many of the caregivers, some of whom have been there for 10+ years. Management - Felicia Barkley, Albert Manalo, Richard Pogue and Karina Luna have all been extremely helpful and easy to work with. If you're going through this process for the first time, it's much easier and reassuring to work with people who are professional and do what they say they will do. You'll find that Atria Sunnyvale handles caregiving differently from many communities, even many that are much more expensive. I found that most communities seem to handle care more on a scheduled basis - meaning that, for instance, if you needed someone to help you dress they might schedule it for a certain time or block of time (between 9-10am each day for example). At Atria, everyone wears a pendant, as at most communities, but if you need assistance you simply need to press the button on your pendant and someone can assist you. Most facilities use pendants for emergency-only situations. Sounds like a simple thing, but it's immensely freeing to be able to do things on your schedule rather than someone else's. The amount of care can also be reduced as my mom's health and mobility improves, but is flexible enough to provide what she needs right now. From a food standpoint, the staff chef is very good and the menu changes daily and is published weekly - and if that day's choices aren't to your liking, there is a regular menu that allows you to choose something else. My mom thinks the food is great and likes the choices, but *loves* the breakfasts as that's her favorite meal of the day. The activities are varied and there is a schedule published weekly that is posted to everyone's door for the coming week that show activities and times. Periodically, there will be lectures, talks, or someone singing or playing piano in the dining room or common living area. There are exercise sessions every day, as well as frequent offerings of games and craft activities. My mom has not been there long enough, but I understand there are outdoor community activities when the weather improves. There are two large outdoor spaces where residents can safely walk or enjoy sun or fresh air. There are many kinds of communities out there, some are like living in a luxury hotel, but anything can be had at a high enough price. I think the essential considerations are; is it clean, well maintained and well managed? Are the people you meet, particularly the caregivers and residents, nice and do they seem happy to be working/living there? Are the amenities and activities things that your loved one(s) will take advantage of? When looking, I saw several communities that had large swimming pools, but if your loved one is not going to use it, is that worthwhile? Because you'll be paying for it no matter what. The bottom line is that if you're looking for a great and friendly community where your loved one is likely to feel at home, thrive and enjoy their life, Atria Sunnyvale has to be one of the places deserving of strong consideration.

From the very first tour we were made to feel welcome. Every person we have met has been warm and caring. The building is well decorated and feels like a home. The residents have been equally as friendly and seem very happy. We had dinner here on our mom's first night and the food was as tasty as any restaurant. Albert’s special touch by texting mom’s updates and artwork, which shows his dedication and attention to mom. I appreciate the messages and updates I get via email from Karina and Catalina regarding mom's health. I’m impressed with all the activities the Art Director and the team put together and mom has opportunities to learn and engage with the community. When I saw mom yesterday, she exhibited her artwork with great delight! I am profoundly grateful to all of you for your support of my mother and me. Atria Sunnyvale's Assisted Living Resident Services Assistants and Medication Assistants are Superb! Everyday i get compliments on how great the staff are. Peter, and Allen are very compassionate, and patient when providing care. Maria and Eglinda are always keeping an eye on residents and making sure there needs are met. Jane always has a great smile and cheers residents up. Jessica, and Lorie make sure all the residents are healthy and taken care of. Marilou, Alvin, Cynthia, and Annabelle are awesome and work so well as a team! I thank John, May, Sarah and Gerald for working all the late hours and making sure the community is taken care of at night. Jennifer is the most caring and considerate employee, she always goes the extra mile! I couldn't ask for a greater team and the residents LOVE them!

I've lived at Atria/Sunnyvale for 3 years now. It's very clear that a team effort is required for success. Thus pointing out one individual for special attention can be taken as unfair to all the others. Some times I am cheerful, sometimes I am not. And I have little personality quirks as does everybody. But as a Parkinson's patient, I have to take two or more pills 5 times a day. When I know that Gerald or John are there at night, I sleep better. Day times, I look for Lorie, knowing that if she is on deck, my medicines will be brought on time. I am grateful for all the help I get. These three lead the line.

Atria Sunnyvale has its own dedicated wing for those residents who are afflicted with either Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease called Life Guidance. Every time I visit Life Guidance I am always exceedingly impressed with their very comfortable surroundings and overall cleanliness. The staff always shows exemplary patience and kindness to the residents that live there as well. I always leave feeling very relieved that the elderly who live in Life Guidance that cannot take care of themselves have so many people caring people always looking out for them and keeping them smiling and happy.
