I was totally mislead about the pricing for me and my life partner by Joe from corporate who got in touch with me to discuss pricing and set up virtual tours. After speaking with him, Sunrise was the PERFECT choice. I need assisted living.. he doesn’t. He doesn’t need or want meals, laundry, etc. all we need is a bed for him to sleep in and we’re told by the actual facility after my virtual tours all they have is rent which is the same amount for for both (so double the price) of us that includes meals and laundry.. I don’t believe it is fair that a we can’t live together after 15 year of sharing our lives. There should be a way to accommodate this situation

Our mother has been a resident in the Reminiscence Care area at Sunrise of East Meadow since May 2023, following a brain aneurysm. Because she is non-ambulatory and requires 24/7/365 care for Level 4 dementia symptoms, our family’s biggest priority was finding a place where she would be seen, heard, and truly cared for. We found that in Sunrise. The leadership here is exceptional. Mary V., the Reminiscence Care Director, is wonderful and leads with a hands-on approach that filters down to the entire team. Heather, the Head Reminiscence Nurse, is simply fantastic; she knows my mom personally, and on the rare occasion that an issue arises, she is incredibly engaged and responsive. What truly sets Sunrise apart is the staff’s personal connection to the families. Many of the aides know my sister, Mary Ann, and me by name and provide us with regular, honest feedback. There is a "heartwarming" vibe the moment you walk in. Watching Jean and Suki lead community events and see the residents interact is a joy. Knowing the team is actively engaging with my mom daily gives our family immense peace of mind. We want to give a special thank you to the incredible team members who care for her: Day Team: Careen (Lead), Carline, Alrica, Tameka, Maryse, Diana, Keri, Nora, Delcia, Marie Susco (who does wonderful activities), Marie Nicole, Eve, Hilda, Wiceland, Talmie, Shelly, Denise, Genese, Martha, and Laurianne. Overnight Team: Edith, Beulah, Tassila, and Madeline. Nursing: Heather, Kormasa, and Jemima. Activities & Leadership: Suki and Jean. If you are looking for a facility where the staff is hands-on, the communication is excellent, and your loved one is treated like family, I cannot recommend Sunrise of East Meadow enough.

I just can’t say enough about this community. As a geriatric care manager, I helped move a client to Sunrise East Meadow a few months ago following a hospitalization, rehab stay, and a short stint at a different community that was simply not a great fit. Her dementia had progressed and her family did not feel confident with her returning to that original assisted living, so they brought me into the mix and we looked elsewhere. We considered options allll over ” Manhattan, NJ, Long Island.. as long as it was a good fit, nothing else mattered. No stone was left unturned and her family truly did their due diligence. I knew right away that Sunrise was the absolute best place for her. Her care needs exceeded that which could be (safely) provided at other communities, at least not without having to hire additional private help. But I knew Sunrise could not only manage her physical needs, but her cognitive, social, emotional.. all of them! The team is seasoned and the longevity is tremendous. They really know what they’re doing up on Reminiscence (memory care). My client has settled in SO beautifully and is really thriving. Just yesterday, her son called me and said, You know, I didn’t believe you when you told me to trust them and give it time in the beginning, I didn’t think it would work out given my mom’s needs.. but you were right! It was the absolute best to hear those words (though I refrained from saying I told you so ;)). Thank you Sunrise EM for the absolutely exceptional care your entire team provides every single day. The dignity, respect, attention to detail, love, affection, etc do not go unnoticed!!

What I just wrote on my FB acc: Before continuing to make the phone calls needed to address my father's death, I had to write to praise the assisted living/memory care facility where he lived for a year. The Sunrise of East Meadow became an extended family to us. The care provided to my father was excellent and they also notified me of any changes in his condition, or medication needed. The staff was compassionate and they all seemed happy to help. This was an experience unlike my father's prior assisted living facility, which looked more upscale and provided better entertainment, but the care was really lacking. At Sunrise, everyone was kind and responsive, from the aides to the nursing staff to the Directors. I am so very grateful to them.

If there was an option to put more than five stars, I definitely would! My mother who was a nurse for 42 years and took care of the elderly in the psych ward, could not have been better repaid by the amazing staff and reminiscence team at sunrise! From the second we got there, I felt like I didn’t even want to leave! Heather and Mary are a dynamic duo that show not only the love that they have for these residents, but for their job as well! The names could go on and on, but there are too many, They all deserve to be recognized for one reason or another. Unfortunately, our visit was short due to financial difficulties. But in the short time that we were there, my mother received the BEST care anybody could ever get when they are in the position of either suffering from dementia, or just in any type of need. It broke my heart to leave, because everyone on this floor, including the staff downstairs, were so warm and inviting and just simply amazing! The simple details that they put in making sure your loved one felt like they were at home was unmeasurable! The food was always great, the decorations were outstanding for any holiday, and anywhere you turned it was just simply immaculate! I would highly recommend sunrise of Eastmeadow! Bravo to all!!!

They have been so nice to me and my wife since she’s been here it’s like one big happy family there. The RC Mary v is so nice and works well with her team. The Memory Care team was amazing. As Mom’s dementia progressed, she became a challenging resident, for sure. But your team members never wavered in their care for her and the respect and dignity they provided to her. We are especially grateful to Mary Vouloukos for always making Mom feel special and loved. But Mary also took care of us. When it became necessary to move Mom from her single room to a double, Mary took care of everything, making sure that Mom’s most treasured items would move down the hall with her. That help was priceless, since my brother and I both live more than four hours away and could not get up to Long Island to do the move. Mary laughed with Mom, smiled at Mom and hugged Mom. Her tender touch was so comforting”to Mom and us. What can I say about Nurse Heather?! As Mom’s days drew to a close, Heather kept us constantly informed, she called with updates and served as our liaison with Hospice. She made sure Mom had a view out of her window, played Mom’s favorite show tunes and even sought out children’s books that our lifelong teacher once read to her own students. Before her condition declined precipitously, Suki worked so hard to keep Mom engaged. We appreciate all the photo’s Suki shared of activities and her extra efforts to find things that Mom would embrace, like folding the napkins for meal time. Mom really took to Suki and we understand why. Her kind, gentle nature was such a comfort to Mom. Special thanks as well to Mom’s aide Alrica, who had to put up with some of Mom’s angry outbursts. We wish Alrica could have known Mom before her dementia set in, because Mom was a very kind and patient person, not one to outbursts at all. Your team and your facility brought all of us great comfort over the last year and a half. Mom is at peace now and for that we are grateful, just as we are grateful for having experienced Sunrise of East Meadow.

A friend of mine moved into the Sunrise East Meadow after much consideration of what he would be missing from his everyday life. When looking for a place to live we were all confused, concerned and worried that he would not get the care he needed. Once he was there we had to worry no more. He was well taken care of. He had many angels there that he loved to see walking in the door. We wanted to make sure he was well taken care of as he could longer use of his left side. The decision was the right one. I can't imagine anywhere else that would give the care, compassion, and affection that was given to him. Thank you to his caregivers you are the best.

My mother has been a resident of the Sunrise of East Meadow for 5 1/2 years. The facility is beautiful, and the care that my mother receives is extraordinary! She tells me all the time how much she loves living at the Sunrise and I love that she is surrounded by caring and compassionate people. Being wheelchair bound, she has difficulty getting around, but the staff makes sure that she attends all of her favorite activities. I sleep at night knowing that my mom is happy and well cared for, and that is a very high compliment in my book!!

I moved my dad from The Bristal in North Hills to the Sunrise in East Meadow on the first of October 2018. His health needs became more demanding that what The Bristal was licensed to provide. I have been so impressed with the staff here and the housekeeping. The aids are very kind, compassionate and caring. The meals are good and served in a home kitchen atmosphere and the group activities are in smaller more intimate groups. There’s generally a family feeling here. That differs from The Bristal which is formal. Here at Sunrise people don’t wear uniforms. Everyone is comfortable in their own clothes and looks nice. The aids wear company aprons. I think it makes people more comfortable. My dad needs a lot of assistance and everyone that helps him is very skilled and kind. The team is proactive, people from the Wellness Department take responsibility and make decisions but also will call me anytime and let me know what’s going on. They’ve been very cooperative and easy to work with. If I had to make the choice over again I would have had Dad here earlier and not waited until he needed more care. The Reminiscence facilities are really clean and nicely run by professional staff at every level.

My grandmother moved into this community from another assisted living, a little over a year ago and I have nothing but great things to say. Out of all the assisted livings I have toured they had the most staffing. Multiple nurses throughout the building and anytime I have a concern it is addressed immediately. The community isnt just pretty on the outside, they actually provide the care you are being told is available and much more!
