I lost my husband 6 months after we came here. I can’t imagine what it would be like in our house alone without him. I enjoy the company of those around me, and I’ve made many new friends as well as enjoying those that I already knew. I like the food and having a deadline to come and enjoy the food. I feel safe and comfortable in my apartment. The activities keep me occupied by healthy means. I’m mostly independent presently, but I am very aware that I may need the assisted living services provided in the future, and that’s comforting to me! The regular increase in price is of much concern to me, as it is to others around me. However, the Staff makes me feel at home here. —

The care team at Atria Grass Valley works hard to ensure residents get the support needed. Very much appreciate their effort. Excellent communication between the support team and the residents family is another big positive aspect. It shows that the support staff really care about the well being of the residents. I do feel for the food service team here. They have to cater to many dietary limitations. Must be a huge challenge! When family joins their loved one for a meal just keep that in mind. And of course staff plans interesting activities for residents.

At the end of 2023 to the start of 2024, my mother, Shirley Miller, was having mobility and memory issues and could no longer remain in her house without full-time care. My wife and I visited three Grass Valley Assisted Living Facilities which included Atria Senior Assisted Living Facility. Of the three locations, Atria had the most professional, attentive, and warm personnel. We visited on a Sunday. We decided to have a follow-up meeting during the work week with my mother and the Atria Director, Joanna Lehman. At our follow-up meeting, we met Joanna for the first time and found her to model exactly what we had experienced from our prior facility review meeting. She engaged with the medical staff, care givers, maintenance staff, kitchen staff, and the elderly occupants with the loving care of a family member and loved one. My mother was very impressed and was joyous at our get-to-know-the-facility lunch. Joanna introduced us to all the key Atria Staff. Our four-hour meeting seemed like an hour. We signed up and moved in later that month, February 26th, 2024. After moving in, the level of care is consistent with the attitudes we experienced on our initial visit, and Atria’s Staff and elderly occupants have become extended family. With Nurse T’s medical expertise and willingness to do what is best for our mother, Shirley’s leg strength has increased. Nurse T’s management of her medical staff in dispensary of Shirley’s prescriptions both morning and night, have my mother anticipating the time they visit. Continually the Caregivers call out my mother’s name as though she’s a long lost relative while providing laundry, room clean-up, and escort services to the cafeteria to ensure she is not in a vulnerable position for a possible fall. Atria engages the elderly occupants with a full activity schedule. When Shirley may get bored, she always has something to do to improve her attitude and engagement with others her age. Activities are constant, needed, and occur after and before every meal. The Atria Staff reminds her of the activities since she forgets so often lately. It seems as though the Atria Staff enjoys the activity schedule as equally as the elderly occupants do. In conclusion, I truly have nothing critically negative to say about Atria, yet truly all is very good and constructive in building a sense of extended family and care for our mother. The attentiveness and care of the elderly occupants by the Atria Staff allows us to sleep better at night knowing she is there. Sincerely, John Miller

My mom has been at Atria for almost 2 years and she loves it!! The entire staff has been phenomenal and they really care and protect their residents. The front desk staff, the kitchen staff, the med techs and the management team have all been sensational! My mom feels cared for at Atria because it really is a community of professional people taking care of their residents!! And non stop activities that the residents have to choose from are amazing!! The lobby and surrounding areas at Atria are always clean and beautifully decorated. My mom loves being here and we love visiting her because it’s just a nice , warm atmosphere!! In June, 2022, I was looking for an Assisted Living facility in Nevada County for my friend, Evelyn. I contacted all the local facilities in person and by phone. I had no familiarity with Atria so went in-person to speak with their representative. I was immediately impressed with everything about Atria; from the beautiful facility; maintenance and cleanliness; and at the top of the list, their staff and culture which was clearly distinct from the other facilities. Since then I have had many lunches (every month) in their dining area visiting with Evelyn (who is now in memory care) and can say with total confidence, they are outstanding in all areas...I have referred Atria any time I hear someone is looking for assisted living for their loved ones. Plus their food is delicious and setting is like fine dining; it makes for a perfect way to visit with someone who is fragile and have a enjoyable time. My mom was very reluctant to leave her home, but the circumstances led her agree that she couldn't live alone anymore at 97. Home care for her would have been astronomical. We checked out various places. Eventually we just did a walk in and Joanna took us on a tour right then and there. We were impressed with the way it looked like a luxury hotel. Atria has a great program where you can stay there for some weeks in a furnished apt. to see if it is a match. This is a great program if you are undecided. Fortunately my mom saw the benefits of having care at a moments notice, not having to cook, clean or grocery shopping. There are events every day and the staff is friendly, caring and fantastic and they call everybody by name. The dining room is nice and we have had meals with my mom there. The chef prepares great meals. I feel confident that we made a great decision and that my mom is under great care.

We moved my 98 year old mother-in-law into Atria after she'd had a couple of falls. She never wanted to be "put in a home" so she was very hesitant and skeptical. Atria has a furnished room that they allow people to stay in on a temporary basis to try it out. This was a God-send! She ended up agreeing to stay after the 3-week trial period and is having a great time! She's made friends and is enjoying all of the events that Atria has to offer. There's always a wide variety of events held all throughout the day, every day, including exercise classes. The facility is like a luxury hotel. It's clean, classy and beautiful. The food is excellent - chef prepared and healthy! We love being able to eat there with her on occasion. They're very friendly and treat my husband and I like family anytime we're there too! And the biggest thing - they take REALLY good care of her and of all of the residents. We no longer have to worry that she may have fallen without someone noticing. The relief that we feel having her in such a safe environment is everything to us. They will call us with any concern and have great communication with us. We highly recommend Atria and feel so blessed to have found it and to have her in such a fun and safe environment. She's safe and very well-taken care of!

I’ve had the pleasure of acting as a long time caregiver for a lovely man with dementia who I absolutely adore, and when his memory loss progressed to the stage that is best served by a memory care unit, I was asked to stay on with him as a private companion. I was looking forward to the opportunity to focus on the more individualized, person-centered, quality of life aspects of memory loss support and connection while someone else took over the more practical daily tasks. I was also anxious at the movie-fueled ideas of being dropped into a cold, controlled environment, and as an interloper no less. Horror stories of overworked, disinterested or even cruel orderlies manhandling residents swirled in my head. Ive been going into Atria’s Life Guidance for about 9 months now, spending 4-6 hours a day working with and just being present for my guy, enjoying a unique front row seat to Atria’s inner workings. I’m relieved to report that there isn’t a single thing to contact the local news about, or even fill out a complaint card. It turns out, Atria is the cleanest, most streamlined, activity rich senior living community I’d ever been in. (I’ve been in 11, that’s a pretty good sample amount) . I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that despite the strict adherence to protocol and eternally lofty standardsthey were also really, really fun. Bonus! There’s always something going on in the lobby.. Live music, colorful parties, pleasant discussion groups, you name it. The staff always takes a moment to come and shake it, even the flawlessly dressed upper management, singing and dancing alongside their community in a genuine, natural way. The grounds and interior are lovely and well kept. LG has a pretty courtyard with raised beds and a gazebo, gorgeous maples that change color, safety gates hidden from view with clever curves. The main lobby feels like a high end hotel, comfortable and spacious. I can’t comment from experience on meals, but the snacks are creative with restaurant level presentation. The residents are clearly happy and comfortable with plenty to do,. The staff is warm and attentive, and even behind the daunting locked door of memory care, there’s a welcoming feeling of a close community, Most of my time is spent behind that daunting door, where families who’ve made such a difficult choice have to trust that their loved ones are being treated with dignity and respect. I see the newer families struggling with the complicated feelings and concerns that facility placement naturally invokes. As someone whose loyalties lie directly with the residents and a fierce commitment to person-centered compassionate care, I took the time to write this tome to assure those searching that Atria is everything they claim to be. There is not a single staff member that I have observed over the last nine months that I would not fully trust with my own loved ones. . There’s not a single caregiver working in life guidance that displays anything other than competency, confidence, patience, and a true fondness for their charges. The place is consistently spotless, organized, and staff still manages to give a quick squeeze, start an impromptu dance party, or give someone struggling some special attention. LG is not for the faint of heart, and risk of burnout is high, but this staff seems dedicated and invested, and dedicated and invested employees results in a higher level of compassionate care. I appreciate all LG staff, but standouts are Kaylie’s capable leadership, Harmony’s kind patience, the gentle strength and mindfulness of dignity from Kevin and Chris, Gina’s respectful authenticity, Joy’s spontaneous fun and affection, Chelsea’s sweet empathy and Mary Ellen’s ability to soothe and redirect some of the most challenging behaviors. Phil, who doesn’t work in LG but is Atria’s crown jewel, and of course Maria, the Captain running an intimidatingly tight ship and brings the same firecracker energy to everything from protecting her residents to shaking her tail feathers. Mom really needed some extra recovery time and visiting Atria for an additional two weeks was suggested. She has been adamantly against going to assisted living for years but Jamie made the process easy and doable. Her kindness and attention to detail, her understanding and compassion towards mom made me feel at ease right away. This facility is beautiful, friendly and a welcoming place for your special loved one. Mom went from no way to excited and smiling within an hour of being there. The surroundings and the community-feel is perfect for seniors that may have been living in too isolated a setting. Last Fall, my sister and I were so very excited to moving my 96-year old mother into Atria, and had the distinct pleasure of working with Jamie Puentes in that endeavor. Although available apartments were scarce, Jamie stayed on top of it for us until one became ready to move in. Unfortunately, our dear mother suddenly became quite ill and we were forced to relocate her to a full staffed nursing home where she passed away. Although our happier plans for mom failed, my sister and I wish to recognize Jamie for her "outstanding customer service" and diligent work toward not only arranging for an apartment, but in assisting us with the cancellation and full deposit refund due to our circumstances. I just have to say the entire experience at Atria here in Grass Valley was so pleasant and peaceful and It was all due to a sweet young woman by the name of Jamie who is the sales director at Atria. As many of you know the decision to move a parent into assisted living can be very stressful but Jamie was there for both myself and my mother. When we came to little bumps in the road Jamie helped smooth things out and put our minds at ease quickly. She is amazing at her job and truly has a heart for the entire family. Also I want to say that the entire team at Atria has been nothing short of wonderful including the executive director Natasha , the nurse Lisa all the way to the Maintanance man Tyler.
