Great place
April 2022
We recently transitioned my father into Viva SL at Harrisburg. While we had began our search for the right community for him a few weeks prior to his transition, it came much quicker than we had anticipated. He was hospitalized on a Friday and learned that his in-home care would no longer be able to support his needs. Upon learning this, I immediately reached out to Stacy from Viva late Friday afternoon to share our situation and see what Viva could do for us. We were in contact throughout the entire weekend completing the application and other required paperwork. Vivia made arrangements to complete his assessment that Sunday and he was able to move in upon his discharge from the hospital on Monday. Additionally, staff has been very responsive in assisting us with completing the required paperwork in support of my father's application for VA Aid and Attendance benefits. Most importantly everyone has helped to ensure my father's transition into his new home has been as smooth as possible.

I would like to express my thanks to Brittany for all her help recently! My mother recently left rehab and we were looking for a continuation of help and assistance for her as she continues her road to recovery. Commonwealth came highly recommended by the rehab my mother was in. I visited Commonwealth and was so very impressed with the accommodations and Brittany's knowledge and expertise. She spent so much time explaining how things would work and helping me feel comfortable with the decision to move my mother to Commonwealth. At the last minute, my mother brought up the name of another facility she was interested in, which out family was unaware of. I had to call Brittany and tell her my mother wouldn't be coming to Commonwealth. I felt really bad, as Brittany had been so kind to me. Brittany was very understanding and was so gracious and understanding. She made sure to let me know that she was glad my mother was going to be where she was comfortable, and she (Brittany) only has my mother's best interest in mind. This was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make as a daughter, and Brittany was so kind and generous throughout the entire process. I feel like Commonwealth would have been great for my mother, and I really do think that Brittany is an outstanding person 🙂

Dear Brittany, Thank you so much for your time, great communication, patience, attention to detail and thorough tour of the assisted living and memory care areas at Commonwealth Assisted Living at Harrisburg. We were impressed with everything that we saw and it came out as number one on our list of 7 places that we looked at in the Lancaster- Harrisburg and BelAir-Forest Hill (Maryland) area! Although we were unable to place mom and dad at your facility (as it was too far from our home in Md), we would like to highly recommend it to others who are looking for a great place for their loved ones to call home. When we visited (on very short notice), we saw a clean, friendly, well-staffed facility, where residents seemed happy and well cared for. We were impressed that residents were out of their rooms, interacting with staff (who all seemed to know them by first name) and some were participating in staff-led activities (which were frequent and varied). The rooms were clean, well-furnished and spacious (although we would have been allowed to bring furniture from home). The memory care area was newly renovated and it was obvious that much of that area was designed intentionally to stimulate residents with dementia-Alzheimers and keep them safe. The menus looked enticing and nutritious and you offer an alternative if residents dont care for whats being served that day. And according to the testimony of residents and staff that we talked to, the meals are delicious (and able to be puréed). We liked that there is a nursing station on each floor and that the size of your facility would have easily allowed 91 year old dad, who would have been coming out of rehab because of a broken hip, to quickly learn his way around and be able to navigate and independently use his walker or wheelchair to get to meals and-or activities. And that residents are given a pendant to call for help from anywhere in the building and that they could be located electronically. And that there are walk-in showers with a seat and grab bars. We were amazed and appreciated how you honor veterans by locking-in their room rates for life. What a help that would have been in enabling their finances to keep them at the facility for the rest of their lives! The way that you treated us (and your residents) and what we saw and heard the day of our tour, along with your suggestion to look at other Commonwealth facilities closer to our home, is what ultimately led us to place our mom and dad at Commonwealth Senior Living at BelAir last month and I can say that we are highly satisfied with the care provided there. Our experience with these two Commonwealth facilities have shown us that the Commonwealth Core values of caring about people, doing the right thing, being passionate, having fun and celebrating success, speaking up, taking ownership of any issues and being respectful DO add value to what you do. And have allowed us and our parents to truly feel like part of the family there. I urge others to research, tour and consider placing their loved ones in a Commonwealth Senior Living facility in their area. Thanks again for everything! Sincerely, Sue and Wayne Muir

Our Mother moved into Sweet Memories in mid June 2020. She had dementia and we knew when we found this wonderful place that we were making the best decision for her. Honestly, it was very hard for us to leave her there but in a few days we knew, we just knew she was home. The care she received was phenomenal. The love and compassion she received was unmatched. When wed witness the staff interact with her, it was genuine and honest. Unfortunately, her stay was too brief. During her last days, her new loved ones came to hold her hand, stroke her hair, kiss her goodbye and offer to help us in any way we needed. They had already given us what we needed. They loved our Mother! What more could we ask? This place will always be our family. RIP sweet Gracie

Our mothers stroke changed our lives forever. She is a wonderful mom, and although shes not who she was, we still love her so much and will settle for nothing but the very best for her. Knowing she was independent and now needed assistance with so many things, we were sad and scared. We knew we couldnt provide the care she needed, so we started exploring every option in the area for her. From the moment we walked in the door at Sweet Memories, we knew we were home. Its a brand new, beautifully appointed, warm facility. The staff is exceptional. They are loving, kind, and very experienced. From administration to the therapists to the aides to dining services to maintenance, we have all been treated so respectfully and compassionately. The staff is genuinely interested in learning as much about our mother as possible, and she is making many connections! Their passion for what they do is so apparent. This is not an easy population to work with, but they do it with grace and empathy. We love the Smiles app to track our moms activity, and the communication is excellent. From the big things like knowledgeable clinicians to the little things like programs that are customized for each resident, we know...without a doubt...that Sweet Memories was the right choice for our precious mother. She is truly home.

To say that finding Sweet Memories memory care unit at Commonwealth Senior Living was a God send would be an understatement. Our mother suffered a stroke at the end of April 2020, at that moment our once independent, social and wisdom filled mother was gone. She could no longer feed herself, ambulate or often speak coherently. It was a devastating loss. Knowing that she would not be able to return to her independent living facility we had to begin a search for another place for our mother to live. While our mother was in acute rehab, we had to educate ourselves to level of care, skilled nursing, assisted living, insurance coverage and soon became very overwhelmed and heart broken that we didnt know what was the best option. During a search of facilities I came across Sweet Memories. I made a call, like I had made so many before and spoke to Brittany Klinger. It was the last phone call I had to make. Brittany described the memory unit { which we had no idea that existed } and it sounded perfect. Upon visiting we knew it was perfect! This is a brand new unit and was customized to meet the unique and often difficult needs of residents who need memory care. With Brittany by our side we navigated the world of post stroke-dementia care. I am not sure how we could have done this without her {thank you Brittany} While we were visiting we had an opportunity to meet the staff and therapists that would be caring for our mother. Everyone assured us that we were a part of care team for our mother. Mom has been at memories for over 3 weeks now. The comfort that we feel everyday knowing that mom is there cant be put into words. The staff was carefully chosen and are the best of the best to work with this population. From the director, medical staff, therapists to aids there is constant communication which if you are going through this right now, you will know how important it is, especially during a pandemic. We were able to decorate and create a beautiful space with items that mom was familiar with. There is an online App that we can sign into in order to know what activities our mother is participating in. Megan the speech therapist creates memory books for each resident. This not only serves as a window into moms world but a therapeutic tool. We have been encouraged to call or email questions anytime. We have always received quick responses. I know how scary this process is. Call, ask for Brittany and you will be one more step closer to being able to fall asleep at night peacefully.

I had a hard time convincing my mother to move into a community. However, no that she is there I could not get her to leave even if I wanted her to. I am extremely grateful Greenfield Senior Living. She has a new lease on life, what with a new circle of friends and the numerous activities and outings the community offers. Thank you.

We really liked this community and the staff did a great job answering our questions and they took their time showing us around, the rooms were nice and there were a lot of amenities offered to the residents who choose to be a part of them. For us, it was a toss-up between another community but I would definitely recommend scheduling a tour here to see things for yourself.
