Village at Freedom Brandywine Review I brought my mom here from Exton Post Acute Rehab, and the difference was night and day. Village at Freedom Brandywine truly lives up to its star rating on the CMS portal. From Admissions Director Lorna to Nurse Practitioner Jennifer, the team is competent, empathetic, and deeply committed to service. The staff are outstanding, the food is excellent, and communication is seamless ” every message I left for a nurse or specialist was passed along without fail. Requests were handled promptly. Blood reports were provided within minutes, follow-ups from doctors and nurses came exactly as promised, and concerns were resolved quickly. The area for improvement is the frequency of rehab sessions. My 72-year-old mother is recovering from septic shock and requires consistent, repetitive muscular training to regain functional independence and return closer to her pre-illness baseline. The therapy I believe is not sufficient to recover quickly well within the early recovery window value a patient gains maximum recovery. Also, the soap dispenser in the bathroom, wasn’t working despite several complaints. These are minor, but would make a huge difference when it comes to infection control. Even after just five days, I felt confident that this is a place where you can safely entrust your loved ones. I wish the center continued success in all its endeavors.

Update (May 6, 2026) In July, my wife and I will begin our tenth year at Freedom Village. Time has flown by and we love living here. We've made many friends and continue to be impressed with the variety of events, activities, and trips... and by the staff members who organize and coordinate them. Our dining choices have been exceptional, even better with the opening of the "Village Bistro," a year or so back. It has its own menu (and a brick oven for pizza). I want to mention other sections of Freedom Village, including assisted living, skilled nursing, rehab, and memory care. Although my wife and I are in independent living, over the years, several of our friends have been in these other areas. I have been consistently impressed by the thoughtful care and attention they have received. It gives me great confidence to know that should my wife or I ever need such care, we will be in good hands. Here are a few highlights:. -The amount of visibility residents have in the overall planning, organization, and operation of the place is wonderful. We had a few conflicted thoughts about going to a for-profit place but by now, I am confident we made the right decision. -Our condo is roomy with many windows but with only one ceiling fixture in four rooms, we need lots of lamps. -Access to events and places such as gym and dining is quite convenient. Residents with walkers, rolators, and scooters seem to be having no difficulties. -Food... well, if it were a restaurant, I'd give it four stars for food and five for staff. That said, every once in a while the lag between ordering and food delivery is excessive. -Staff are just plain wonderful. They remembered our names from early on. They remember our preferences and our food restrictions. This is getting long so I'll just add that a primary reason for our selecting this place was in the hope of making new friends. We found success there from the first day on.

Freedom Village has a friendly vibe and welcoming, and collaborative ambience. More than a Job: Activities and other staff are a cohesive, warm-hearted group working with enthusiasm to ensure residents’ quality of life, satisfaction and enjoyment. More than a community of separate residences: Kindness overflows in Freedom Village. Residents look out for one another and staff keep an eye out for the well-being of residents as well. Many residents volunteer for a myriad of tasks to keep the community running smoothly and harmoniously.

We moved into Freedom Village at Brandywine 2 months ago. We selected it from among the five Continuous Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) we looked it based on,- 1. the friendliness of the staff and residents, 2. the proximity to our PA family, 3. the size of the condos, 4. multiple intimate dining facilities (5) rather than a single large dining hall, 5. multiple on site medical options 6. located in easy driving distance of all manner of shopping and off site dining opportunites as well as 7. an acquisition plan option which guarantees that you "can never outlive your money". We haven't listed the items, like a multiplicity of activities and clubs, because all CCRCs have them

FV at Brandywine is a very active community with highly energized residents and staff which results in a lot of activities and a very welcoming reception. The relationship between the staff and residents is the magic in the potion that makes this place special. Any excuse to have a party seems to be the mantra and when combined with the amenities offered make FV at Brandywine special. We are really glad we chose this community over all the others we visited.

My husband and I have been residents at Freedom Village Brandywine for over 7 years. We have had many memorable events and enjoy the feeling of a family community. Recently I had an occasion to appreciate our decision to move here. On July 4th I fell and broke my right hip. After a full hip replacement I was able to return home to my condo. As my husband wheeled me in, a group of residents and staff in the atrium started clapping! The concern and encouragement I have received has been a boon to my recovery. The medical coordinator arranged OT and PT to begin immediately. Not having to cook or clean gave me the freedom to move right on to activities I enjoy. The food here is amazing in variety and quality. We both agree our move here was the best decision we ever made! Elaine Merhar

Being new at a CCRC has its challenges and adjusting takes time. I am very glad my husband and I made the move. * I find after 10 months that I greatly appreciate the warm, inclusive people who are my Freedom Village neighbors. * I appreciate the staff who always have a warm smile and greeting. They forgive my mistakes and help me feel welcome as I learn. * I find my condo offers all the room, storage, and quiet that I worried about before moving in. * Both the meal plan and house keeping offer me the extra time I need to experience activities and fit in all the "senior" doctor appointments. * The activities, programs, and celebrations have encouraged a feel of community and educated. * The yet-unused transportation providers help relieve any worries I may have in getting to appointments, shopping and entertainment in the future. * Dining with others has taught me how to place orders to get the foods I like the best, done the way I like.. or that we can choose to quietly dine alone in our condo by ordering ahead for pick-up and delivery. * It is fascinating to learn that despite all of our differences, we have so much in common with so many! * Living at Freedom Village does not isolate us from our former lifestyle, it enlarges our lives and opens new doors.

We've been here almost 6 years. The residents are great. It was very easy to make friends and someone is always willing to have a chat and support you when you need friends. There are so many activities, it's hard to get everything scheduled you would like to do. The condos are large and the services we receive from the employees is A++. Our dinner menu always has special entrees that change every 3 days, as well as a list of 8 Freedom Favorites, such as Salmon, Filet, Lamb Chops, etc., which are on the menu daily. My mother recently moved from Independent Living to the Gardens. We met with Laura who took the time to explain everything and show us different apartment models. When the time came to move my mother, Laura provided everything we needed for an easy transition. She always made herself available either with text or a phone call. The nurses, aides and staff were wonderful as well. After my mother moved in, Laura and other staff checked on her and took her to meals and activities. Mom has lived in FV Independent Living for 9 years. She absolutely loved it and thrived there. At 92 years old, we felt that it was a great time to move her over to The Gardens where there are more day-to-to day support systems that we were able to utilize to keep her living her healthiest life while still enjoying the freedom of living in her own apartment. * Thanks to Jacki Pitcher at FV Independent and Laura Fanning at The Gardens, we had a very organized and easy move! Mom had been enjoying life at Freedom Village’s Independent Living for over 10 years. One day this past July she fell and everything changed. After time in the ICU, she transferred to The Arbor for her recovery journey. Prior to the fall, she was extremely independent. She did not use any assistance with her daily routines. She is 93 years old and legally blind but you would never know it. After the fall, she needed assistance with everything. The kind and professional staff at the Arbor, met and exceeded her rehab needs. During the road to recovery, she made a difficult decision to transition from Independent Living to The Gardens. I have to say the transition process was wonderful. Laura, was so involved, caring and kind. She helped us through all the unknowns. I had previously read Google reviews about Freedom Village. I was amazed by all the terrific comments and have to say the hype was spot on. Our experience with everyone associated with the facility was nothing but exceptional. My mom is so happy with her move. She recently commented that the personal care she is receiving is almost too much! She loves it. The sense of security for her and my family is irreplaceable. She is thriving and continues to make great progress. Freedom Village is the entire package for us. It is a wonderful place to entrust your love ones!

Freedom Village should be able to afford a top notch chef with the money they take from their clients. It’s sad because at that age its one of the few pleasures left to most of them. I think the lady who vacuums the rooms could do a better job and it would be nice if they had a leader in this building to get people out of their apartments like they do in the main building and socialize other that meal time. Otherwise the furnishings are lovely&the staff is kind.

This place is awesome. They have cared for our family as if it was their own. Both our aunt, uncle and Mom have been in Independent Living, then our aunt needed memory care and our Mom recently moved to Skilled Nursing. For every step along the way, the staff has been incredibly supportive and helpful. When Mom needed assistance, a staff member came on in Christmas Eve to get her moved to transitional care. There has been nothing we have needed that they have not been able to provide. Aside from that, the property is gorgeous, extremely well-maintained with lots of activities for those who want to participate. The food is incredible. I've often said Independent Living is like being on a fantastic cruise ship. This is certainly the place to live when you need support.

I can't believe I now live here! Discovered Freedom Village at Brandwine when I was looking for a place for my parents several years ago. I visited several retirement communities in the Chester and Montgomery County areas. When I walked into Freedom Village and saw how beautiful the condos are, I knew I had found the right place. Dad passed away, but Mom did move to Freedom Village. She lived here 5 years and couldn't have been happier. Now, my husband and I have retired and have made this community our home as well. The condo is beautiful. Lots of room and light coming in. The residents are very involved in the day-to-day things that run the community and it shows. Can't recommend Freedom Village enough.

In early October 2021, my mom relocated to The Gardens at Freedom Village. For many reasons—dementia, resistance to moving, and leaving her home of over 50 years—we expected Mom’s move to be challenging. The entire staff, from sales to administration to nursing, worked with us to create a transition plan covering everything: a clear, straightforward contract, quick turnaround when a room became available, hanging photos and window treatments to personalize Mom’s room, and creating a way to receive Mom on her terms on move-in day. While it is never easy to move a loved one to personal care, Mom’s reaction to the move and her adjustment to life at The Gardens at Freedom Village were much better than we had hoped—all because of the care demonstrated by each member of the staff. Now, Mom is part of a caring community, and her room feels like it belongs to her. As a family, we are incredibly happy to see Mom interacting with the staff and residents—not living alone any more. Within her first week as a resident, Mom was seen onsite by her new physician, and we received an introductory call from him to review Mom’s health and medical history. Flu shots and COVID boosters were administered onsite, and the staff also accompanied Mom to a routine medical exam. Day-to-day, Mom needs varying support with basic activities, and the staff helps her to select clothing, schedule a haircut at the salon, or even choose menu items, all while preserving her independence and dignity. Socially, Mom enjoys the Walking Club and sharing her many family photos with the staff. We selected The Gardens at Freedom Village after visiting five local continuing care communities and working with Mom on the idea of moving for two-and one-half years. The Gardens at Freedom Village provided the best value for our family because we have peace of mind. Low employee turnover and well-maintained facilities, along with priority access to memory care, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing services when needed, were important to us; however, the ongoing care and support provided by each member of the staff is truly what gives us comfort that Mom is receiving quality care—both now and in future months and years at Freedom Village.
