It's not the worst in the area, but the staff need help and more training. My family toured here last month.

My relative is a former resident of The Rivers. While the nursing home itself is very nice and the staff is caring, the prices are skyrocketing high. My relative has since moved out of The Rivers for this reason. She is a few years from 100 and has moved between almost four nursing homes in less than a year. Seniors can’t afford this place.

My Dad moved into The Rivers recently and has been so happy with being there! The staff in general has been great, from the process, paperwork, etc., so helpful. As chaotic as it all has been, we needed help with Dad right away. We got in touch with Cathy for assistance and were greeted with such positivity, caring, and professionalism we were immediately put at ease. She got right to taking care of us and him. Cathy, you are awesome!

My mom had good care at the Rivers. Unfortunately, my biggest issue with them happened after she passed away and we moved her belongings out. We were owed a refund for several days that she didn't have care after she passed. It has been over 2 months and we still have not received the refund. When I call about it, I get transferred directly to a voicemail and no one returns my call. It's disappointing that such a good experience has been soured by their lack of responsiveness. Their failure to refund our money is unethical and unprofessional. If you choose this facility, I hope you have better luck getting your money back than we have had.

I have lived at The Rivers for over 3 years and hopefully many more. Management and staff are very friendly and caring, they show real interest in how we are doing and make us feel like a family. There are activities for everyone; exercise, games, art crafts, movies or just reading a book on the patio. For those who want to see the area, downtown is 2 blocks away; stores, restaurants, parks and plenty of community event.

Clean nice facility If you have an elderly who needs proper care. This is the place to be.

The residents are fun and friendly. The staff all work hard to get to really know us and help us have a safe and healthy environment. They show caring every day. We have lots of activities: bingo, sign language, blackjack, puzzles, gardening, Mexican train and more. The other residents feel like family to me. I am happy to be here.

The caregivers are caring and compassionate. The programming in the building gives the residents meaningful life enrichment activities. I would move my loved on in the building if/when the need arises.

I have been here for nearly 3yrs. There's been many changes over the years. As with any company, some good some not so good. I thoroughly enjoy being here. I don't look at it as "being at work" I feel more like it's my second home. The residents are amazing and make me smile. =)

November 2023
The Rivers assisted living and memory facility has been extremely supportive of our family these past 8 months. Both parents moved into Assisted Living. My dad rapidly needed to transition to Connections and then passed. So many things happened so quickly and The Rivers supported us all the way. My 5 star review is based on the fact that I truly enjoy visiting my mom in her new home and seeing the staff interact with her and other residents. Absolutely, every one of them is great! When issues arise, we feel comfortable bringing them up and, with patience, they are resolved or the situation is improved. They are notably improving on communication with families “ and we truly appreciate the efforts. Mom has experienced so many little things that make her day. Housekeeping conversations, field trips, care staff routines, etc. All of these are so important to someone who’s lost a life partner. A shout out to Lindsay who is a rock star at making things happen. When we needed to move in quickly, she made sure everything was in order and done correctly. Each day she is a friendly, understanding, and encouraging presence.

This place cannot keep staff. This is just one of the issues. When my mom first moved in she was on hospice but yet the facility was charging her for things hospice took care of. The director at the time was clueless. I had to call their headquarters to get anywhere. They weren’t consistently showing up to bathe her. You get what you pay for here.

Nurses absolutely take good care of my father. I’m sad to say the daily staff could certainly do more for him. Combing hair, brushing teeth coaxing shower, charging hearing aids changing clothes. Staff is nice to him. Food is ok.

This place is great! It’s a humble community, but the staff and residents are swelling with pride for it; and it’s easy to see why! This community is bright and open, has delicious food, and friendly residents. Felt very comfortable touring, and looking forward to our move-in. A special touch when the Dining and Executive directors stopped to chat with us during our tour. Looking forward to having my parents join this community.

The staff at The Rivers at Puyallup is second to none. I can't tell you on how many occasions I have seen someone go above and beyond, especially during these tough times. The management team has communicated very well to the families so we always know what is going on. My grandmother is happy to be there and we are thrilled! She is living the best quality of life she could live because of the care she is receiving. I want to thank you for the hard work and dedication of your staff. Keep up the great work!

There is so much downtown history here! it's not the new kid on the block, but makes up for that with good old-fashioned hospitality and neighborhood values. Seems like everyone knows someone who knows someone! Coming into The Rivers reminds me of the old show Cheers, "where everyone knows your name--and they're always glad you came." As awesome as all of that is--it is the lively residents, great food, and committed team that make this place a "small town in a small town."
