My dad has been a resident for almost 4 years. With family and medical input, staff and leadership have worked hard to develop a plan and routine that fits his needs. Leadership is very accessible and open to constructive feedback and staff works hard with relatively little turnover. The facility is warm, welcoming, clean and intimate and the residents seem very comfortable and happy. I would recommend adding this home to your list as you do your research - you will not regret it.

Sunrise in Leawood is one of the most amazing retirement communities in Kansas City. You walk in you get greeted by Nina and you see all these friendly faces. They have some great piano players that come by. Darin Is the executive director he handles everything smoothly.

My mother has been at Sunrise of Leawood for 6 months and has improved! She was at an independent living place before moving to Sunrise and was rarely engaged or encouraged to participate. What a breath of fresh air! Sunrise of Leawood was such a pleasant surprise for us. She has blossomed into an involved participant in almost all activities! She is happier as a result! My husband was here for a year. At least at the time he was there, the proportion of men seemed much higher than at other facilities we looked at. It was nice for him to have guys around. It's clean and the staff are caring.

We had my mother at another ALF in KC and then moved her to Sunrise of Leawood. Caring for her is a challenge to say the least. Sunrise helps me by not only caring for her physically but also by supporting me so that I can make aure her finances and other aspects are all in order. I honestly don't know what I would have done in the past 6 months without this team!

We moved my MIL here 3 months ago and we are thrilled with the care she is receiving. They work hard to keep her comfortable and engaged with activities. They are very communicative and are always open to hearing from us with questions or concerns. We recommend this facility to anyone who is considering an assisted living option. EDIT: Finally, after three months and MANY requests to "go home" our MIL is referring to Sunrise as her home. Thank you to all who have graciously attended to her during this transition.

Sunrise of Leawood has been the greatest assistant living facility my family has experienced. We've moved my grandma twice now to find the best option for her. The staff has been wonderful since she's moved in. They patiently answer all of our questions. They are all so sweet with her even when she's refusing to take her baths. They always make sure to treat her like their family. It has been great working with them to provide the best care for our grandma and we couldn't be happier. Thank you guys so much!

Grandmother has been at Sunrise nearly 7 years, and she’s been so happy there! She has just passed her 100th birthday, and Sunrise did such a nice job celebrating and recognizing this milestone with her! I cannot say enough good things about Sunrise of Leawood. My mother was a resident for almost a year and a half. She was 24 hour care. The staff took unbelievable care of my Mom. The entire staff, I am very grateful for. When my mother was passing, they made sure that she was comfortable, checked in on her constantly, and ensured that she was cared for until the end. They truly have everything that you would need and want at home.

This place has been a godsend in a short span of time for both of my parents. Especially with my dad and his level of care needs the staff has always been right by his side. They love to make him smile which for him he needs all the smiles in the world. Chris is amazing. Sharon the care manager is amazing. There are so many names I could go on forever. Of course every place has its drawbacks but I still maintain that this place was the best option for both of my folks.

My grandpa has been at this facility for a little over 6 months. The care the staff provides is excellent. They truly and genuinely care for him. They treat him with respect and are so patient with him. They have taken him out for Veterans Day and had a family Thanksgiving dinner that was delicious. Our mother lived at Sunrise of Leawood from May 2021 until October 2023. The staff at Sunrise really cared about mom and kept us up-to-date on her care, involvement in activities and most importantly how her dementia was progressing. We never had to worry about her taking her meds, health care, nutrition or the cleanliness of her clothes or room. When she had a young grandson pass away, the staff cared about her loss and made sure to check on her more often than usual. They also arranged for a local clergyman come and visit with her to help her with her grief. When her health changed drastically and we had to move her to another facility, the team at Sunrise were a godsend in helping us traverse the change and made us really feel that they truly cared about the situation. The facility is very nice, the activities they have for the families of the residents are fun -- and the food is fabulous!

Sunrise of Leawood is a fabulous facility for our mom!! Centrally located in South Leawood, and a convenient location to visit. Sunrise has just completed a refreshing of all walls, carpet, furniture, etc which leaves the place with a nice modern look. The entire Sunrise team is attentive, professional, courteous and kind. If you visit a few other places around town as we did, you definitely will notice how Sunrise shines above!!

My mom lived at Sunrise of Leawood for just shy of one year. She recently passed away. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the care she received there. The staff is dedicated and attentive, and I always felt that she was in good hands when I could not be there. She enjoyed the activities, made many friends, and the food was great. There is no perfect place for your parents, and you have to remain vigilant in their care, but after having my parents at two other facilities in the area, I can confidently say that this one was the best by far.

I have two parents living here for a year now. We are thankful that Sunrise has been pro active in their health care. They seem to enjoy the activities, food and living in the apartment. Sunrise is very attentive to our questions and their needs. Clean living areas is also a plus.
