Great staff. Place was very clean.

Marc in the sales dept is amazing! No pressure but provided all answers & checked in to make sure we were doing ok and to see if we had any questions or if anything had come up. Very sincere and attentive. Our loved one will be moving in! I’ll update the review in a few months.
October 2025
Brookdale Potomac is a positive environment for your aging parent. Those in charge are responsive and your loved one is treated well. The environment is pleasant. Parking is very easy and there are nearby shops to take your loved one to (i.e., Starbucks, Baskin Robbins, simple restaurants). The cost is still challenging for limited financial resources with long-term stays, but it seems to be less expensive than other options in the area. We also had experience at Brookdale Olney. We did like that property better as it was just more modern, more open and inviting as it was newer, but it was also a bit more expensive than Brookdale Potomac. We have been happy with the services received by our parent at Brookdale Potomac.

Brookdale Potomac is doing a wonderful job caring for my husband. He loves the many varied activities, which include weekly field trips, as well as the food. The rooms & common areas are spacious, warm & inviting. The staff are extremely professional & caring. And the cost is below many comparable assisted living & memory care places in our area. I highly recommend Brookdale Potomac to anyone looking for themselves or their loved ones.

Making a transition to assisted living is not always easy.... Thanks largely to the encouragement & gentle persuasion of Brookdale Potomac's Activities Director, Sharon B. -- my Mom has enjoyed engaging in community events, joined in local excursions & participates in regularly scheduled in-house activities. Sharon is creative & kind; her easy-going approach to residents well-being is an added extra bonus!

Brookdale Potomac is a high quality senior living facility where the staff and management take pride in working together to provide the best possible experience for the residents. There is always a variety of food options and activities for the residents, and the staff are always happy to help with whatever is needed. Meals are freshly cooked every day and served in a restaurant-style dining area or brought to the resident’s room if needed.

I recently had the privilege of partnering with Brookdale Potomac to support a shared client in their community. The care provided by Vicky, Clifaine, and Jemila and the entire team is nothing short of exceptional. They consistently go above and beyond to ensure residents feel safe, valued, and respected, offering families the peace of mind that comes with knowing their loved ones are in a secure and nurturing environment. The team’s genuine commitment to each resident creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. I witnessed their unwavering dedication and compassion as they treated our newly arrived client with personalized care and thoughtful engagement. Vicky went above and beyond to ensure she had everything needed to feel comfortable, and the variety of activities helped her quickly feel part of the community. We are profoundly grateful for our partnership with Brookdale Potomac and wholeheartedly recommend their community for those seeking exceptional care for their loved ones.

January 2025
Brookdale Potomac is a wonderful home for senior assistance. The activity director is very creative providing the residents with engaging activities! The dinning staff is also very patient and kind to the residents helping them read menu, choose what to eat, and helping them eat if needed. It’s a very welcoming and clean facility with a beautiful courtyard for residents to enjoy the sunshine. I would recommend that if a loved one needs constant assistance, they get a personal caregiver. Medical needs are well taken care of by the caregivers, nurses, and the health and wellness coordinated. All the staff are extremely caring towards the individual at Brookdale; listening and hearing residents questions and concerns.

I have referred a customer as well as used this facility to assist another customer and let me tell that this facility is full of professionals from the time you walk-in, talk to the customers and then leave. This facility was good earlier but ever since Mr Tahir came in, their culture has become much better.

My 95 year old mother is happy and healthy at Brookdale Potomac. The staff is wonderful and looks out for her very well.
January 2025
Brookdale Potomac provides a clean, friendly, supportive community for those who can no longer live on their own. The social interaction provides an important element of care that my mother was not getting by living in an apartment building. The staff is caring and compassionate. There are celebrations of holidays and birthdays. There is live music and activities to help residents engage and enjoy themselves. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and participate. My mother was 92 and lived there for almost two years before she passed away. The staff at Brookdale Potomac, the physical and occupational therapists from Fox Rehab, as well as her private duty caregivers, kept her safe and comfortable to the very end of her life. My family and I will always be grateful and appreciative.
January 2025
Mom has been at Brookdale for nearly two years. I can't say enough good things about the staff who has been loving, kind and talented. They have cared for her wonderfully, and helped with the difficult decision when it was time to move to memory care. Very pleased.
January 2025
The manager of Community Engagement at Brookdale Potomac (Programs), Sharon, is exceptional. Energetic, professional, skilled, organized and caring. She knows each resident and makes each resident feel important and included. The many and varied activities/programs are fun and stimulating. I can’t thank her enough for how she and her department have enriched my husband’s life immeasurably.
January 2025
My experience with Peter Gruenfielder began on May 6 2024, when he took over as Director of Food Services here at Brookdale Potomac. He has brought a new creativity and an energy to our various menus, from routine 3 meals a day, to special events, and holiday meals. His professional experience is vast and shows: he has introduced European items that were particularly pleasing to me as I grew up in Europe. Kielbasa and sauerkraut, spaghetti and meatballs (okay, also American but.)., quiche, . Different delicious soups One of the best qualities about Mr. Gruenfielder is how inclusive he is: he holds monthly Chat with the Chef for all of the residents where he brings them up to date with up coming meal plans, any special events and asks for questions and suggestions. Mr. Gruenfielder also has been inviting small groups of us for more intimate conversations. This has yielded new additions to the menu, like pasta and sauce; dinner rolls on occasion and new desserts! Chef also regularly strolls through the dining room, stopping at tables and inquiring about the meal Residents like this and feel comfortable letting him know how they feel. And again he lets them know what the problem might be, or what difficulties might exist For example, he has thoroughly explained the bird flu impact on not having unpasteurized eggs like sunny side up eggs or egg white omelettes. Chef Gruenfielder has been a real treat to have directing the kitchen staff and producting terrific balanced meals. He always keeps specific dietary needs in mind. And with his Always available menu items, there is very little excuse for people to feel they don’t have a choice I’m obviously very prejudiced in favor of Chef but that’s fine, He is a caring, thoughtful, generous individual. The residents here are all the beneficiaries

Just amazed by the consistency and hospitality of support from walking / speaking to the receptionist AND working with the top Executive Director, Dr. Tahir, who gives a lot of credibility for Brookdale of Potomac. For any reason a resident experiences medical issue, you have a physician at the top to address the matter quickly because of his experience / background. My favorite and trusted facility. Thank you to the staff for being human ™

Moving my dad into an assisted living facility was a difficult choice, but choosing Brookdales Senior Living was the right choice. The staff is caring and attentive, and the facility itself is well-equipped and well-maintained. My dad is in good hands at Brookdale and has a welcoming place to call home.
January 2025
Brookdale Potomac is a beautiful community with an amazing atmosphere. The staff is attentive, caring, and truly goes above and beyond to make everyone feel at home. Highly recommend for anyone looking for exceptional assisted living!
January 2025
The staff at Brookdale Potomac were wonderful. They took great care of our dad, Reed, during the last 2 years of his life. I appreciated their flexibility as his dementia progressed; they adapted to his changing needs, including an eventual comfort-directed/Hospice care plan. Communication was excellent. They were thoughtful, kind, and it was clear that they really cared about him. Here's a story that says a lot: Reed used to ride his bicycle every day along the C&O canal, often for 30-40 miles at a time, until his dementia made it unsafe for him to live independently. The activities director at Brookdale came up with the idea of buying a stationary bicycle for Reed, setting it up in front of a big-screen TV, and playing GoPro videos taken from the perspective of cyclists. Reed loved this, and would spend hours every day in front of the screen, immersed, and burning off restless energy. Overall, we were very grateful and happy with Reed's Brookdale experience.

Beautiful Facility! The Administration team is caring and awesome. Beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff you can feel the passion from the team.
January 2025
My dad has been a resident of Brookdale Potomac for almost two years.. He lives in the memory care area called Clare Bridge. I can’t say enough about the excellent care he has received. The staff is very caring and takes care of all of his needs with empathy and kindness. There are many activities including memory games, music and a daily exercise program. The residents are not just confined to the facility, but are taken on field trips to the many beautiful parks in the area.
January 2025
Peter, Chef at Brookdale Potomac, offers what the residents ask to the fullest extent of his abilities. His German soup and desert recipes are superb. Peter allows residents to add condiments to their taste.
January 2025
My sister recently moved to Brookdale Potomac, and being a picky eater I was concerned about her adapting to the menus. However, CHEF PETER has gone out of his way to accommodate her likes and dislikes. He is always visible, engaging and has a great smile on his face! It is apparent that he truly wants the residents to be happy. He is one of the reasons she is so happy at Brookdale Potomac!

October 2024
So far, I am very satisfied with Brookdale Potomac and the good service.

Mom came to Brookdale 2 yrs ago at 1 month short of 95. She is now one month short of 97 and settled into a good life with activities and friends. It’s wonderful to have the level of care she has, and a godsend to me as I couldn’t ever provide the care and companionship she has.

Amazing facility! The administrators and staff at Brookdale have been incredibly welcoming and helpful. We definitely chose the right environment for my mother in Claire Bridge care at Brookdale Potomac. Staff are always thoughtful and kind, keep us informed, and respond quickly to any questions. This is a warm and friendly place feels like a home instead of an institution.
August 2024
My mother has been a resident in Clarebridge, the memory care unit of Brookdale for almost a year. The staff couldn’t be kinder to her. The manager of the unit, Yvette Bravo, goes above and beyond to make sure each resident feels loved and engaged. It is a warm and welcoming environment.

We simply cannot express adequately how grateful we are for Brookdale Potomac and its remarkable staff. For nearly two years, our mother has called this place home, and in that time, they have become an extension of our family. Originally residing in the Assisted Living section, our mother recently transitioned to their Memory Care Unit on the third floor. Despite the challenges, the staff seamlessly accommodated her needs, treating her with compassion and understanding every step of the way. Our mother, a vibrant soul who thrives on activity, has found solace in the engaging environment provided by the staff. From inclusive daily activities in Assisted Living to weekly musical performances and celebratory events like birthday parties and social hours, Brookdale Potomac offers a plethora of opportunities for residents to thrive. Their serene courtyard and charming herb garden further enhance the sense of community, providing spaces for relaxation and connection with nature. During our visits, we have been consistently impressed by the staff's attentiveness and dedication. They take the time to keep us informed about our mother's well-being and participation in activities. On the occasions when she's struggled emotionally, they've gone above and beyond, reaching out to update us on her condition and their strategies for comforting her. The experience in the Memory Care Unit has been nothing short of extraordinary, largely due to the exceptional efforts of Coordinator Yvette. Yvette's commitment to the residents is evident in her frequent updates and photos, showcasing the enriching activities and outings they enjoy together. From art projects and games to social gatherings and gardening sessions, she ensures that each resident feels valued and engaged. Recently, they even organized a heartwarming visit from a therapy dog, complete with homemade treats for the local humane society”a testament to the thoughtful and innovative programming at Brookdale Potomac. Our mother's joy at playing with the dog encapsulates the essence of the care she receives”a blend of warmth, companionship, and purpose. She LOVES the staff here! It makes us so happy that she has made friends with some of the residents and staff, and it fills our hearts that they include special hands-on cooking days to incorporate their favorite dishes and days to share their cultural background with cooking their favorite meal. For that, we are endlessly grateful to the entire team at Brookdale Potomac, especially to Yvette, Sharon, Fran, Lynn, and Ziel, Genet, Senait and Jamela whose dedication touches our hearts every day.
February 2024
My Mom was a resident of Brookdale Potomac for 11 years. She was very content at Brookdale. And, she liked the food. She was always treated with courtesy, care and kindness. Management is excellent and the staff is knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. I was especially impressed with the care and communication through the worst period of the pandemic. I would definitely recommend Brookdale at Potomac.
January 2024
Five stars for Brookdale Potomac. I have had my parents at this facility for 2 plus years. I could not imagine having them anywhere else. The entire staff, from administrative, nurses, care givers, dining and social coordinators, and reception personnel set the standard for healthcare and customer service. Thank you!!
March 2023
I have a friend there that has received items from family & friends and they always seem to "DISAPPEAR". Then one of the nursing staff was caught red handed going through her purse. This is absolutely RIDICULOUS and NEEDS to be brought to the attention of a management personnel that REALLY CARES and can look into it. There's stealing & other shifty things going on!!!
January 2023
After careful review we selected Brookdale Potomac for our beloved mom. The staff and directors have been amazing, empathetic and helpful. They have kept us well informed and are very caring. We are grateful for Yvette and staff at the Clare Bridge unit. They are simply amazing!
January 2023
My mother was at Brookdale Potomac (assisted living) for 6 years. The facility along with the common areas were nice and the individual rooms are good size, well laid out and comfortable. The staff was helpful, professional and supportive during my mother's tenure there. The location of the property along with its easy access was great for us. Their group activities encourage residents to mingle/interact and enjoy their situation. I would recommend this property to a person looking for an assisted living facility in this area.
January 2023
An exemplary Assisted Living facility! Great management & staff! It is sure led by example!
December 2022
I have no issues with the staff. They were very friendly and cared for my mother. The administration and corporate entity is horrible. They debited my account for rent after my mother passed away. When I told them about this, they responded with an offer to refund an erroneous amount. Once this issue was addressed, they claimed that it would take nearly 2 weeks to offer a refund due to an accounting glitch. Be very wary of this; I have little trust in the business side of this organization.
December 2022
We have now had my stepdad (who has fairly advanced Alzheimer's) living at Brookdale for 2 months. From day one, every single staff member I"ve interacted with has been outstanding. Not just competent, but exceptionally positive and caring. They really go the extra mile to engage with the residents, and help them live their best life possible. They handle what is clearly a difficult job with grace, empathy, and positivity. We considered several other facilities, and are very glad we've chosen Brookdale.
June 2022
This is not the best place to care for your love ones and management team is the worst they always short of caregivers and the residents are neglected. they only care when visitors are coming
June 2022
A few months ago, I visited Brookdale in order to spend time with a resident. The first-floor lobby area was very nice. The upper floor, residential living space was clean, but the dining room was a bit glum in appearance. I may have missed it, but on that floor, I did not see a library, or an activity room where the residents could gather. The dining area seemed to be the only area for socializing, unless the residents go downstairs and that can be quite an ordeal for those that have physical disabilities. During the time that I was there, the staff seemed to be hardworking and friendly, but short staffed, perhaps because it was the weekend. Overall, the staff that was there did a good job, but the set up on the upper floor needs improvement.
June 2021
The Admissions process at Brookdale was amazing. I had a million questions and they were all answered quickly - with kindness and professionalism. Sarah went out of her way to endure that Brookdale was the best place for my sister. I can't wait for her to move in!
October 2020
My parents have been living in Brookdale Potomac for over three years and I recommend Brookdale strongly, especially Clarebridge, the memory care unit. The staff on Clarebridge truly care about residents and pay attention to the needs of each person. Since many staff and the director have been there from the beginning with my Mom, caregivers have become extended family. Residents are encouraged to engage in wellness, arts, music, cooking and seasonal events. I’m impressed with the creative activities planned often around particular interests of each resident. Family concerns are heard and staff work hard to address issues that arise as the health of residents change. Last Spring, administration held regular Zoom family meetings to communicate openly and listen to families. This level of transparency was appreciated and reflected Brookdale’s caring approach..
October 2020
On behalf of my mom (Marjorie), placement in the Clare Bridge Program (CBP) has been a Godsend. Now in her second year as a resident at Brookdale Potomac, it was after placement in CBP that she reclaimed her outgoing nature; openly associating with other residents and engaging in many social activities. She appears at peace and so much happier. My family is most appreciative and grateful for the level of diligent care, concern and respect she receives from Yvette Bravo and her staff!
October 2020
My mother-in -law has been a member of Brookdale Potomac's Clare Bridge (memory) Community for almost two years. During the pre-COVID times, my wife and I were almost daily Clare Bridge visitors and observed Brookdale's spirited effort to provide a wide range of entertainment and artistic activities for BOTH the memory unit and the assisted living families. On most occasions they were TOGETHER so the Clare Bridge members felt they were part of the larger community. Now the Brookdale leadership deserves special plaudits for the manner in which they have handled the COVID crisis. They have been successful in keeping that monster COVID at bay, enabling my wife and I to continue our visits. Thank you, Brookdale. You truly are heroes, each and every one of you!
October 2020
I have had the pleasure of working with the staff and residents of Brookdale Potomac for years. The team goes above and beyond to really get to know people and create an inviting home environment for all. They truly care about each resident. The nurses are experienced and knowledgeable. Most of the Brookdale Potomac staff have been working there for years. Which is testament to their team. I would feel comfortable referring families looking for Assisted Living and Memory Care to Brookdale.
October 2020
My mother has been a resident here in the Claire Bridge Program since 2014. The journey is not an easy one, but the care given to her by the loving staff has made it much better. I am comforted to know she is well cared for by a patient staff, supported by a team of professionals. The extra burden of Covid-19 has strained us all, and knowing they are caring for her when I cannot gives great comfort.
October 2020
Great place , clean, very inviting. Staff is very friendly. Great location
September 2020
As assisted living goes Brookdale Potomac gets 4.5 stars - no one is perfect however after seeing many places (Brighton Gardens, Landau House, Ring House and the 5 Star on Connecticut Avenue) I can confidently say Brookdale is about as good as gets. The employees are very caring and most have been at Brookdale for a long time. The food is quite tasty and the waiters and waitresses are lovely and caring. Covid is another story but they are doing everything possible to make it work. The nurses are fabulous and knowledgeable - they call when appropriate and make all the correct health care decisions.
September 2020
Friendly people with great activities planned for the residents. I took my kids there many times (before covid happened btw) to interact with the residents we did bowling, some singing and dancing, and made cards and delivered them ourselves. The residents enjoyed so much it felt great to see them smile and laugh at the innocence of the kids around them. So nice of management to arrange such and looking forward to more.
September 2020
I have lived here almost two years. It was a big adjustment going from an active and independent life to an assisted living situation. The adjustment was only possible due to the patience and caring of the staff. Their job is overwhelming and yet they soldier on with a degree of caring and concern that seems unshakeable. The physical plant is good looking and comfortable. It is starting to get some age but is well maintained, certainly in the public areas. With the world neck deep in the covid 19 virus, it is easy to see the job management does. We read daily about how senior living is the front lines of this pandemic. We hear horror stories from assisted living and nursing homes. Management has faced turnover of staff, scared employees and residents, a population resistant to change and often unable to understand or remember to wear a mask, wash their hands or stay 6 feet apart. Under these rough circumstances, the stats prove that management has protected the population effectively.

I really love the team at Brookdale Potomac. They are genuine and have a their residents best interest at heart. Their rehab partner Fox Rehab is exceptional and I think they have great therapists on site to keep their residents functioning at the highest level possible. I enjoy volunteering occasionally with exercise activities being a therapist myself. I recommend touring this community as you look to planning your next step transitioning from home.

Amazing people! The entire staff was so kind and involved with the residents! I have volunteered with this community multiple times and they are so welcoming and attentive to their residents individual needs and wants. I would highly recommend this location for residents, volunteers, and even people looking for work!

Great community in a great location. We moved my grandfather into this community and they made the move smoothly. The maintenance man (Joe) is such a wonderful person and I hope they plan to keep him forever. We do receive weekly updates from the interim ED which helps keep us calm knowing that grandpa is safe. My family is very grateful to you all.

Disappointing. They sold us on how attentive they would be and said there were only four residents per health aide. That's false; that's only in the memory care facility. The other facility has 14 residents per health aide. It took 30 minutes or more to respond to a call button (my father is in a wheel chair and can't do much by himself). I was helping him to the bathroom and he slipped; when we pulled the "emergency" button (which was supposed to be an immediate response), it took then 15 minutes to answer. I did most of his care myself when I was there. We ended up hiring someone to stay with him during the day because the response time and the bad attitude of the aides made using their services almost impossible. My father developed an infection and they never even knew. My brother found him in his wheelchair, pushed up against the wall, food on his shirt, hair uncombed, unshaven and burning up with a fever that put him in the hospital. If the resident can get around on their own, it's fine, but do NOT expect them to help someone who can't help themselves. Their lack of care (which we paid extra for) was negligent. My father is thrilled to be out of the facility and somewhere else.

I absolutely would highly recommend this facility to family, friends and also people looking for work. The energy and atmosphere is warm and loving. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. They are awesome.
