Very pleasant retirement living.

I did not wanna come to Denver and I was sure that I was not ready to be in "a home". My daughter researched several places and was most impressed with Parkplace. I am in independent living and I would say that the best thing to do is to push yourself outside of your box and go to card games, bingo, exercise, trips, entertainment… It's the only way to meet people and that is the answer to everything. The sooner you can meet people and make friends, the sooner it will feel like home.

Our mother moved from out of state to Assisted Living at Parkplace in October 2022. We cannot express our appreciation and gratitude enough to all of the staff, as they all play a large part in making this facility amazing. The staff in assisted living were like family and our mother adored each and everyone of them. They took excellent care of her and she enjoyed talking with them and learning their stories and about their families. When she suffered a stroke this past April and transitioned to Hospice Care, the Assisted Living staff stepped in, arranged for hospice care and made it possible for us to bring her home from the hospital. Together with an amazing hospice team, Brookdale's staff was with us every day helping in any way possible to make her final days comfortable and peaceful. Mom was 98 years old and thoroughly enjoyed her time at Parkplace. She made several friends, enjoyed her neighbors and felt very comfortable and safe in her apartment. She never complained about anything, she enjoyed the meals in the dining room, physical therapy in the gym, shopping on Fridays and several excursions to events around town. The Administrative staff, Finance staff, front desk folks, and all those behind the scenes running this facility are to be commended for what they do on a daily basis to keep this facility running so smoothly. We would highly recommend Brookdale Parkplace to anyone in need of senior living in Denver!

I have lived here for 8 months. In general, I am pleased. The staff is excellent, my apartment is perfect for a widower- comfortable, quiet and view of the snow covered mountains. Although, I am a certified couch potato, there is a nice pool and exercise facilities. Residents are a rich variety of backgrounds and occupations. The dining facilities are excellent and attractive. The food is nutritional Soups are excellent as are desserts. Main courses are inconsistent but good in general. There are many special events and celebrations. There are activities and bus trips. Lectures and musical talks, etc. value is good.

Brookdale Parkplace has been a huge blessing to my father and our entire family. We were very concerned about moving dad from living in his own single family home to living in a large building with multiple residences. All of our fears have not materialized. On the contrary, dad is enjoying the daily interaction with the wonderful staff and fellow residents of Parkplace. The building is well maintained. The staff always respond to every need by going above and beyond the call of duty. We cannot imagine another situation that would so perfectly meet dad's needs.

I'm so grateful for Brookdale Parkplace. My brother and I moved our 84 year old father into Brookdale fall of 2022. He's the kind of guy who goes to the gym almost every day and can hold a plank with perfect form for over 2 minutes. He's extremely independent and while he wasn't exactly "happy" to be moving into a retirement community initially, it has definitely grown on him. To quote him directly - "I'm quite happy with the place - I love the staff and the staff loves me!" I honestly can't understate the peace-of-mind it gives us knowing that he's safe, doesn't have to cook for himself if he doesn't want to, and has regular house keeping (I should note that they are literal ANGELS - he's not the tidiest guy). Thank you Brookdale staff for everything you do! I know it's hard work and we appreciate you 🙂

I was worried about moving my mom into Brookdale since she had been in her home for 40 years. From day one she has been happy and comfortable
February 2023
Wow, a lot of bad reviews recently, many from former employees. My father has been in independent living here for several years and he still likes it. There have been MANY challenges related to staffing and required isolation due to COVID-19. It hasn't all gone perfectly, of course. Bill, the dining room manager is super personable and is trying to get the country-club feel of the dining room experience back post-pandemic. It is a beautiful space. The price has increased quite a bit since he moved in. Perhaps the price is fair for the market but until we look elsewhere, I can't evaluate that. My dad loves the staff here. They love him. So do I. He's staying for awhile longer, I expect. Update 1/2023 - This facility is back to strong performance. My father remains very happy here, though he will not be alive much longer. His friends, and the employees who are his friends, are warmly concerned about his decline. When selecting a place for your advanced years, remember the importance of community. This place really nurtures a community culture.
February 2023
I worked there. They treat the the employees like (cannot use that word here), and only care about making money. Residents and employees are one the bottom of the totem pole.
January 2023
The staff here are so lovely and my mom has settled in pretty well considering what a tough transition leaving your house can be. Her stove was updated, she goes to her regular King Soopers every Friday, and we both love Sunday brunch. Communication about activities and menus is regular and helpful. She brings a sweet kind attitude to her interactions here and the same has been returned to her, from both staff and her neighbors. Thank you, Park Place carers!
December 2022
I have lived at Brookdale Parkplace for 6 years. After my husband's passing, I decided to move from Memphis to Denver where my daughter lives. Moving to this senior community provided meals, activities, and friendships in a warm environment. I also find comfort in knowing that there are higher levels of care should/if I need that in the future. My family and I have been pleased with Parkplace.
December 2022
I love being here and I have a great apartment. Parkplace feels safe and is comfortable and has excellent and responsive staffing. Lots of activities are offered, including an excellent exercise class three times each week! I made the right choice choosing this place!
December 2022
My father (95 years old) moved into assisted living here in August 2022 after a serious injury due to a fall. During the time that he has been here, the management changed--for the better! Page Malmstrom, the new director, has been resident-focused and made many needed repairs and upgrades to the facility. She is a very good communicator and responsive to requests. There has been staff turnover before and during her time here, mostly in the dining room and clinical staff, but since her arrival this has been managed well. My father and others whom I know at the facility are pleased with the improvements. I should say that my father requires round-the-clock caregiving on account of mobility problems, so we do not rely heavily on the staff. But when we need them, they are professional, willing, patient, and helpful. Reviews here are right to focus on the staff: everything depends upon their level of competence and their satisfaction with helping others. We have had a very good experience with the staff here, from the cleaning folks to front desk to caregivers to the management side. I looked at many facilities before and during my dad's stay: if you are considering a facility for your loved one, pay attention to the availability of the night staff (Parkplace has 24-hour front desk staffing as well as 24-hour caregiver staffing). Many places I reviewed did not have this safety feature. Parkplace has independent living, assisted living, and memory care, which makes transitioning as needs change easy. It also houses the Brookdale@Home caregiving service--so if you need extra help, temporarily or permanently, you can get it without trouble. It has PT on site and a pool. I think its activity offerings are among the best out there, although we would like to have more during the day because my dad is so confined to the facility, unlike many of the independent living residents. There is a new dining director, so the reviews here may not accurately reflect that part of the facility. Plan to eat several meals with your loved one at every facility you visit in order to get a feel for the quality, quantity, and service. Plan as well to talk to residents when you visit. No one wants to live away from their home, but it helps a lot when the staff are cheerful, remember you, and take the time to stop in even when they are not doing something required of them. That has been our experience at Parkplace. The building is older, which means that there will be mechanical problems from time to time, but again, these are well-managed and in the process of being remedied. I think Ms. Malmstrom has been in the job only a few months, during which time we have noticed lots of big and small improvements. She obviously desires to know the residents and help them have a good experience. She makes herself available, she visits with the residents, and she has a good rapport with the staff: all crucial to the well-being of the people who live here. She has instituted a number of health and safety features as well. Her professionalism and her caring translate down into the staff at every level.

My wife Sharon and I have only been at Brookdale Parkplace for two months and we are already enchanted by it. The staff members are well trained and caring. We have yet to meet one who isn't smiling! The residents we have met so far automatically become your friend. Most of them being elderly and college graduates with interesting careers and travels, they have unending stories to tell. Our sixth floor newly painted two-bath home has plenty of closets and places to store things. Down stairs there is a beautiful pool and hot tub next to a sophisticated work out room. Every day there are programs you can participate in, such as games ( Canasta, Bingo, scrabble, Mah Jongg, Bridge, Poker, and Cribbage), arts and crafts, bus trips, movies, and much more. None of these activities are just for fun. They are all tied to scientific findings about the human body and especially what the brain needs.

Terrible place with very few people who new what they were doing and the management lies.
January 2021
I have been on the hunt for Assisted Living for my father for nearly a year now. His needs have changed and now needs Memory Care. We visited a lot of facilities and Brookdale Parkplace was one of the nicest. It felt more like an apartment building rather than assisted living. The best part was Kevin. Kevin has been in touch with me through this entire process, checking in to see if I ever had any further questions or needed help. He never pushed us to make any decisions we werent ready to. I cant say the same for so many other facilities. Brookdale ultimately is out of our price range but the compassion, care, and patience I witnessed from the staff at this place was first-rate. And a huge thank you to Kevin!
December 2020
A strong, compassionate, unwavering management team, and overall some incredible staff, that has not flinched in providing for our residents and families during this difficult year. Everyone I have worked with so far is here for the right reasons and keeps a smile through it all.
September 2020
We are very happy with the care provided at Brookdale Parkplace. My parents moved into assisted living in 2017 and it is the best decision we could have made. My father had advancing Parkinsons Disease and received excellent care and assistance until his death in 2018. Thanks to the caring staff and Brookdale Hospice services, he died in his bed with his family at his side. My mother has dementia with severe short term memory loss and the staff is so caring and patient with her and does an amazing job of keeping her as social as possible. Prior to COVID, she enjoyed lots of Parkplace provided outings, dining with friends, and using the gym. With COVID, things changed as needed and Parkplace has done a wonderful job of following all the state-issued guidelines to keep my mother safe and keeping us informed. As time has passed, they have opened as many activities as safely possible and continue to provide great care and compassion to my mom. I cant imagine going through my fathers death and COVID without the staff at Parkplace.

June 2018
My mother was 94 when she moved into Park Place. She recently passed away at 100, so that says a lot about the people at Park Place. The staff took excellent care of her: the dining room staff, receptionists, Admin and activities staff, nurses and care givers. They all became part of our family and I couldn't have found a better place for Mom. As her needs changed with her advanced age and dementia, the staff was with us every step of the way and helped us through some difficult and challenging times. The memory care unit staff are amazing, as is the assisted living staff. The turnover is pretty low, as many of the staff were there for the 5 years Mom lived there. I am very grateful for the care she received. Mom enjoyed the music entertainment, and they provide many activities for the residents and family members. And the food is very good, very nice holiday meals and special BBQs through the year. Highly recommended.
June 2018
My 93 year old father was very stubborn & reluctant to leave his home after 55 years and move into independent care at Park Place, but after just a few days, he realized what a five-star resort it really is. (Its been 6 incredible months as of now Feb1-2018). The tablecloth restaurant & food quality is great there, the Sunday's brunch buffet, the indoor pool is amazing, the amenities are first class and obviously the entire staff are caring human beings because they also have a financial incentive to keep the residents healthy and active!! You simply can't ask for anything more! If you dont want your elderly family members living healthier & longer and you want your inheritance quicker, then let them continue to stay in their own homes where theyll trip and fall, eat the wrong foods, take the wrong medications & then pass away. But if you want your family member to live longer & healthier in a 5 star resort, move them into Parkplace where theyre going to absolutely THRIVE & live like they worked hard for and deserve. Im sure are a few bad apples at "other" cheaper facilities, but low ratings on Parkplace are complete lies, inappropriate, disturbing and totally off base. The professional concrete high-rise construction coupled with a 5 star interior design says it all. This was one gigantic investment that was completed first class. One simple walk into the lobby and youll be greeted by the many receptionists that smile and know you by name. Every single staff member Ive known has called me by name and treated me like family. This place is clearly a 5 star "resort." Add up the rent, meals, utilities all the amenities, services and entertainment brought in, medication management if needed, laundry & apartment services, single or group transportation to doctors offices, community socialization, safety & security, theatre events & much more and its probably more cost effective than your/their current living conditions; hands down. Numbers dont lie - people do. Stop in & ask the residents there. They all love it. They now have an amazing, care free & much healthier life.
December 2017
They are chronically understaffed and have a high turnover. Staff is kind, but they are few and far between.
