I very much appreciate the superb, compassionate care and service my mother receives as a multi-year resident of Discovery Village at Southlake. Don Mills, facility director, and Christian, medical director, are always present and respond in a quick and efficient manner. Tracy Boggs, business manager, is very friendly and always helpful. The front desk staff is top-notch and consistently keeps things running upbeat and smooth. The caregiving staff is well-trained and provides kind, thoughtful care. Additionally, the in-house rehab services are very good. Last, but not least, I want to express my sincere gratitude and thanks for the facility's contracted medical group, QuestCare (Doctors Hernandez and PA's) who continually provide timely and exceptional medical services. My mother often comments that she is glad she chose to live in this community!

I Started looking at Discovery Village in Southlake in late October 23, after a hospitalization with my Mom. Ken and Hollie (located in building 2) helped me tour the place and each floor plan of apartments. They were incredibly welcoming and spent quality time with me. I did not feel rushed, as this is a big decision to make for my parents. Upon leaving they gave me the most gorgeous apple pie. The details that go into assisted living are complex to say the least. Rutez (evaluation nurse) drove all the way to Frisco hospital to help evaluate the care transition plan for my parents and see the level of care they needed as individual people. All helping hand were on deck. Every rode block I hit, Ken, Hollie and Rutez were there strategically guiding me every step in the way with patients and kindness. We moved in December 16th and the welcoming and support only continued. All hands are consistently on deck to help me make decisions for my family. My mom needed to move to memory care in January. With the assistance of Dr. Hernandez, Pam (PA), LuLu (memory care director) and Rutez, their care team made this complicated decision an easier transition for my family. The care team is still helping me today in this journey. We are in the process of making one final move for my Dad in Feb. so he can be right next to my Mom in the same building. Ken, Hollie and Don (building one) have helped me switch apartments and leases quite quickly. So in my closing it doesn't matter if you are building 1 or 2, the care teams are not only wonderful with building individualized care plans for your parents. But they are also wonderful at helping navigate the complexity of assisted living requirements and life changes for families.

My mom has lived in the memory care home at Discovery Village at Southlake for 8 months, and I could not be happier and more impressed with the care provided. My father resides in the same building but on the assisted-living side. When I tell you, this is the most phenomenal place you could ever place your parents, I mean it. These people have become my extended family, and are so flexible with requests. Lulu provided excellent insight when admitting my mother. And has been nothing shy of amazing for the last eight months. He does everything to accommodate my father's request to see my mother for breakfast lunch and dinner. The memory care unit has my mom ready for my dad to pick up every day for all of her meals. And even when she could no longer come out for most meals, they encouraged him to come visit her every single meal in the memory care unit . Miki, Alphie, Rose, Ruth and so many more provide daily care for my parents as well as me…the kiddo. Tamika and Dinesh help her get ready for all of the happy hour activities with my dad. They are checking on her constantly. Anytime I make adjustments to her medications, they call. They let me know how she is doing with her sleeping and her overall health. I visit daily, so I know how this operation truly works. These people are nothing shy of amazing when caring for your parents. I have built a bond with all and they share in the journey loving my parents like their own. They are so caring, loving and very special people. They hold my mom, they hug her regularly, they assist her in eating and make sure she has direction with every day activities. They even helped me plan a birthday party for my mom this past Friday and it was a huge hit by allI!!

From the moment you walk into this community, you can sense the quality and and attention to detail. The staff is easy to work with and have genuine interest in the folks that live here. People are usually out and about and smiling as I walk through the building, and the activity calendar is robust and engaging! The administrator can always be found out of his office visiting with folks and making sure the building is in top shape. Some places just feel good, and this is one of those places!

My mother has been living at Discovery Village, Southlake, Assisted Living for 20 months. We have been very happy with the level of care that she has received. They have a number of activities both in the building and out. The food is not gourmet, but is good. The Physician's Assistant that she sees is excellent. She is very quick to respond and sees her in her apartment. Any complaints within the community have been addressed quickly. There has not been a huge turnover in staff since she has been there which contributes to the stability of the community. I would definitely recommend Discovery Village, Southlake, Assisted Living for your loved one.

The staff at this Senior Living Facility is unmatched, especially Hollie Ricker. She and the rest have gone out of their way to make sure the move in for our parents went exceptionally smooth. The facility itself is extremely nice and very comfortable. Our parents, both of whom have dementia, have settled in nicely and the staff goes out of their way to make them feel at home. I couldn't have found a better place for Mom! Discovery Village has proved over and over again to us kids and Mom that we made the best decision for Moms care. She has everything she needs. Physician care, PT, OT, Speech Therapy, excellent dining, excellent caregivers and staff! They love Mom and are so patient and gentle with her! The staff is amazing! I'm always greeted with a smile! My Mom has received excellent care here and at times they have truly gone above and beyond to make sure all needs are met. Any concerns I do have are quickly addressed and resolved!

My parents have been living in Discovery Villages Assisted Living Facility in Building 1 for a little over a year now and we highly recommend it. The entire staff, from the facility director to the dining room staff and housekeeping staff are engaged with the residents and their families. We have never had an email, text, or phone call go unanswered. The staff work hard to keep residents happy and healthy and their families informed of their progress. The facility is beautiful inside and out. They have a husband and wife doctor team whose PA, Pam visits residents on a weekly basis. Both doctors and Pam, the PA are fabulous! They have on-site Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy which my mother is currently using and they are excellent as well. Plus, they just brought on a Neurologist that will see patients at the facility. For appointments outside of the facility, they have a van that can be scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The van also transports residents to various stores/activities on a weekly basis. The van driver Robert is great. When my parents first moved into the facility, we had issues getting their long term care policy to pay. Tracy, in the business office worked with us for several months to help get the issues resolved. My mother's needs have changed over the past year and the facility director, Don and the nursing director, Christian met with us several times to determine the best path forward for her. They encouraged us to contact them at any time with questions or concerns and we have, always with quick response times from them. We like that they have Memory Care as well as Assisted Living in the building. Lulu, the director of the Memory Care division gave us a tour recently and was extremely helpful and informative. The front desk staff, Beth, Linda, and Renee are excellent. Visitors and residents are always greeted with a smile and conversation. They are aware of how the residents are doing, what activities they enjoy, and can help with anything you need from scheduling outside doctor's visits, maintenance requests, and more. My parents have been very happy living at Discovery Village and we highly recommend it to all.

At Discovery Village at Southlake, they have taken great care of two of our family members from skilled nursing care to assisted living arrangements. The facility offers, on-site medical aid, therapy of physical, occupational, and social skills. The staff starting with the front door greeters: Sandy, Judy and Shelley smiling faces and sweet words of encouragement then Okey who lead us through and headed up our journey of care; Charity, Ginger, and Tracy helping and continue to help us with our confusing paperwork with insurance. Ken who took the time to repeatedly show with great patience each room to make it our family members own decision of location of stay. Hollie absolutely invaluable to us continues to reach out and aid us with all questions of the day to day. AJ, who is over maintenance is so helpful with every detail that we need covered. Nurses: Latoya, Christina, Millie, Hannah, Chris, Rebecca, and Carmen, I can't say enough about each one of them their care and attention to detail that they each take with our loved ones. Our medical team: Dr Hernandez, Gwen, and the PAs, Jennifer and Pam, the ability to recognize needs and address them in a timely fashion with love and concern. They are all very kind to not only their patients but to families as well. Leading assistance to us every step of the way. Helping us to understand the levels of care needed. Are encouraged on all levels of care to help with healing and adjusting to the new environment. Thank you for all that each of you do.

10 years ago, my parents moved to Watermere, so if something happened to one of them they could be close to each other. 5 years ago my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's. 15 months ago my mother could no longer care for him by herself. We toured memory care with and without my mom. LuLu came to our home to talk about the services and his team. Throughout the learning curve for both us and LuLu's team we gradually came to know one another to facilitate dad's care. The staff has been amazing in adapting to Dad's needs. It is a relief to our family that he receives 24-hour care. LuLu is dedicated, a great leader of the team, a teacher, and a comforter. Our family highly recommends Discovery Village Memory Care for your loved one. You will become part of the entire village.

My father was at Discovery Village for several months after a triple bypass surgery. From the first day that we moved him in, I was immediately impressed with the warm & welcoming staff, clean facilities and efficient care. As the weeks went by and I realized my dad would be there for a longer period of time, I grew to have such respect and gratitude for everyone... the floor directors and manager, the rehab therapists, the food service team, the nurses, the care coordinators and the cleaning staff. It was a tough time, but the staff cared for us in such a way that they felt like family, and I will be forever grateful for these heroes. I will miss each one of you!

My 96 year old Dad spent some time rehabbing here. He rarely spreads around compliments freely but he did about his stay/treatment here, specifically mentioned his direct-care staff, Ms. Tamika. Also, we had one small hiccup with communication and it was handled swiftly by the super friendly and professional Executive Director, Mr. OK. From conversations I personally had with Mr. OK it is very clear that patient care is the #1 priority. I'm sure we are leaving a ton of other staff out but our kudos to all who work in the rehab section of this facility. Thank you!

When our mom needed to move into a memory care setting, Discovery Village was a comfort to our family. Their management team met with us on a frequent basis to answer our questions, to meet with our mom for a complete evaluation, leading us step by step through the process to mom being relaxed and safe in her new environment. Their memory care director is both top notch and sincere, his striking words to me, "my residents dignity is very important to me". His attention to detail, to both dignity and safety is top of mind with his staff, and I'm finally at peace with my mom's safety and welfare.

My mom has been at Discovery Village-Southlake for 4 years. She started in assisted living and was moved to Memory Care late last Spring. I have to admit I was very against it. To my delight, it has been wonderful! The aides have been marvelous! They interact with each resident making them feel reassured and happy! The activity director is dedicated to constantly finding new ways to keep the residents engaged and happy. I can not say enough good things about the Memory Care Director. He is completely dedicated to the residents and their families. It takes some of the worry out of knowing your loved one is there, knowing how dedicated the staff is to their needs and well being! Thank you Lulu, Cindy Lou, and Vanessa specifically and the entire staff in general. A very heartfelt thank you to each and every person involved! I know that this dedication comes from the top down, so a special thank you to Don as well! I am up there all day, most days do I know that this is not “just an act”!

This facility has a 10 star rating from my husband and I. He received the most caring and encouraging help on his road to recovery from a stroke. I watched as the Doctors, Nurses, Assistant Nurses, Aids and Therapists treated him daily. He checked in on July 18 and, with determination from him and direction from 3 wonderful therapist, walked out of there on a walker on Oct 14. My heart is full of respect and gratitude to all of them. If you're looking for the right place for a loved one, this is the place to visit.

The review written by my niece, Joanna Brown, is based on misinformation. The rooms at Discovery Village are not equipped with land lines. My siblings and I chose not to install a land line in our mother's room. We would bring her cell phone to her, however it was taken by Joanna's mother and she will not return it. Discovery Village is in no way at fault in this situation. They have done an excellent job of getting my mom involved in the community with the other residents. Even if she had a phone, she is rarely in her room where she could answer it. Because she is in a wheel chair and cannot walk, it could actually be dangerous for a phone to ring, because she may try to get out of her chair to answer it. She sometimes forgets that she can't walk. I and three of my siblings are very pleased with the care that she has received in memory care. Several of the caregivers have done an excellent job of establishing a relationship with mom, I am very grateful to them.

When our nation was first learning about covid19 and the pandemic, and so many "nursing homes" were being hit hard with cases, hospitalizations and deaths, we weren't sure our mother (in her late 90's) could survive; we wondered if she might be safer at our home, but didn't feel we could adequately care for her, so we made decision for her to remain at Discovery Village. We are so grateful for the loving care she has received during these past two years (and the 3+ years that she has resided there). They have kept her healthy and safe. She is fall risk but hasn't fallen or had any serious injuries; was fully vaccinated early on, tested regularly, and isolated when necessary. Her doctors, nurses, caregivers, and other staff show love and care, and act professionally in ways that benefit our mother and the community. Thank you! This place is wonderful across the spectrum both for the newly retired that just want a quiet neighborhood to live in, to the complete assisted care facilities offered, should the need arise (this can be for acute temporary conditions or long term). They even have hospice available here. We utilized a hospice service for my grandmother and were very impressed with their staff (If I remember correctly, you can request information and will be provided with outside hospice info). The nurses were kind, understanding, patient, and informative. They didn't act irritated with our many, many questions and concerns, and I felt comfortable leaving my grandmother in their care at the end of the day. Because of this facility's wide range of care, my grandfather, who is almost completely blind and cannot drive because of this, was able to spend much more time at my grandmother's side in her last days because he lived in one of the apartments in the main building. I feel the greatest advantage to offering a full range of care and services is that this allows for the highest level of independence possible. If something does change and a higher level of care is needed, residents will still be able to stay in a familiar environment. This is a difficult transition for many people and this lessens the need to make "the hard decisions," down the road. My grandmother passed away in 2012 and my grandfather still resides here. He has been able to make friendships and enjoy more activities because of the ability to access resources he would not normally have. You can become as involved or uninvolved as you wish, although it appears most people find the community to be a great thing. Ultimately, these factors all increase one's quality of life, as well as eases the minds of loved ones that often feel overwhelmed by the entire process. Since 2012, I've watched this community grow and evolve, including the neighborhood just down the street. I have emphasized a lot of what this facility has to offer when some (or a lot) of assistance is needed, but I would be remiss not to mention the sizable neighborhood next door. The houses are brand new and quite beautiful. I've watched them being built. It bears worth mentioning that the all of the grounds are very clean and well-kept. I also have had personal experience with being confronted by security (I was photographing by the pond while visiting my grandparents) and know for a fact they take the safety and security of their residents very seriously (you are required to check in when visiting the main building and the apartments inside of it, but this is not required for the neighborhood area). This would be an ideal "golden years" experience, in my opinion. I could enjoy living around people my own age, know that I could stay in the comfort of my home - or at least my neighborhood - until my last day on earth, and my overall quality of life would be maximized. I'm quite certain there are additional benefits that are offered to residents that I'm not aware of (landscaping, cleaning service, social events, etc.). The one issue that could be a very big issue with this location is the price tag. This would probably be a deal-breaker for most people. They say you get what you pay for. Unfortunately the average American simply will not have the means to cover the cost long term for living here. I'm not aware of any type of financial assistance or services offered, but I haven't looked into that and it may be worth a little bit of research if this move feels right for you or your loved one(s). Overall, I am very impressed with all of the advantages this kind of lifestyle has to offer. I personally would consider living here should my finances allow for it and I'm still residing locally when I'm retired. I still come here frequently to visit my grandfather and have enjoyed watching this new community flourish in recent years. Words cannot express how grateful we are to those incredible nurses and staff that helped us through the last part of my grandmothers journey. Thank you.
