Firwood Gardens, Assistive Living Facility in Portland, Oregon. I am a resident, and I know that this Facility, as well as all Facilities have there up and down's ! However, this Portland, Oregon. Facility has presently one of the best Director / Administrators that I have encountered, he is always willing to talk to you about any questions or concerns that you might have ! In other words, easy to talk with and in most situation, He will resolve the concern, he is a fair person, that is a Quality that is hard to find. Note : as of the first of September 2024 There is going to be a "New" superintendent / Director ! So I can not vouch for him, time well tell as to him actions. However, as of this writing, there is a very big problem ! This facility as of this date above, has a undesirable "Tent" homeless group of people living across the street from this facility ! The situation get's worse every day. As of this date, there is a "Tent" with two homeless people living in it, and three living on the sidewalk next to the Tent. The sidewalk is almost impossible to walk by all the clutter and mess on the sidewalk. Firwood Gardens, does not in my opinion have adequate security to patrol and discourage street people from congregating near and sometimes on Firwood Gardens property !

In my personal opinion they are just warehousing dementia patients that families don't want to deal with. Their visiting hours are on weekdays between 8am and 5pm giving families the excuse they don't visit because of work or school

I have been a resident at Firwood Garden’s for a year and it has been an overall good experience ! I have checked out (Inquired) other Facilities such as this Facility, and have found that Firwood Garden’s exceeds the other Facility’s !

Bob is usually very happy. This I believe is due to care, events, and fellowship with other clients and employees. He doesn’t get many visitors, but the staff go out of their way to give a wink, smile, and a nod.

My at this assisted living is lucky to get 2 scheduled showers a week. Each morning she wakes up soaked in urine, and has to change, and get dressed just like that. Showers are not provided in her "room" she pays for. They are fed 1 grade higher than prison food. This facility is now run by yet a new director. This director has told the residence if they want to smoke their medical marijuana, they have to go across 122nd since that is their location. This is a busy main street, not user friendly for disabled elder folk; who fall getting out bed every other week. There is nothing they can do to keep my ma and the other residents safe, healthy, and truly happy. They do not even employ enough staff for all 80 residents. Where is the money all of those people pay to be there going??? There is certainly a better way to run this place;......why aren't they doing it??? God be with them and change their hearts take the ones you love and look around before you dump the ones who have birth to you, raised, and loved you. And our Lord Jesus Christ is watching you. If your parents suffer in places where there children drop them: how much more will the children suffer for doing this wicked deed. Our parents loved us the only way they were taught to, and some if us have become resentful, and stubborn, and selfish. It's says in God's word: thou shalt honor thy mother and thy father, so you can be well, and things will be well for you. Our lord is wise, loving, and RIGHTEOUS. We will be judged by our wicked thoughts, actions, feelings, and intentions, .. by our sins. God be with and bless us ALL. Amen

My mother is a resident in the memory care facility, and the staff is amazing. They provide great care for all the residents and are friendly. Nicole & Johnathan are hands down the best care takers in the industry.
