My mother, Pat, moved into Walker Methodist Westwood Ridge in West Saint Paul in the fall of 2021. Because she was still recovering from two strokes, I temporarily moved in with her. Moving is said to be one of the major stressors in life, and it felt like a huge loss for her to leave her adorable Como Park cottage of many years. In the three months that I lived with her at Westwood Ridge, I saw my mother transition from “This is not home” to “I’m so glad I sold my home. I couldn’t manage a home anymore.” We have come to love her large and bright two-bedroom apartment. The living room and master bedroom have bay-type windows that face the woods to the east. Our first morning waking up in Westwood Ridge, we were greeted with a spectacular sunrise that even the three kitties couldn’t resist as they stood up on their hind legs at the window. Watching the fall colors in the trees was a delight. Her bedroom is spacious and bright, and the walk-in closet is very large. In addition to this closet, there is ample storage in the apartment and extra storage space down the hall from the apartment. The apartment building is very quiet. We became acquainted with several of the neighbors, and it soon felt like we were part of a neighborhood. I loved the chance encounters with fun residents on the elevator, and it’s remarkable what you can learn about people in a short elevator ride! There are many activities offered, classes, and groups that meet affording residents the opportunity to choose to be as active as they want to be. There are fun holiday events, too (the Christmas dinner party was incredible!). There is a lovely courtyard patio in the basement by the restaurant, it looks and feels like a secret garden. Residents can reserve their own waist-high raised bed for growing flowers and vegetables, it has been fun to see the progress that mom’s flowers and tomatoes made over the summer. She often goes down to the patio just to listen to the birds and relax. It is evident from the staff and the care that Westwood Ridge offers is indeed a faith-based non-profit, and I am certain that a for-profit corporation could never match the level of quality and concern (and might I say ‘love’) that emanates from the staff. Their mission is “Life. And all the living that goes with it. Enhancing the lives of older adults through a culture of care, respect, and service.” We have experienced this from the concierge desk to the restaurant, to the custodians… all respectful and caring individuals working towards this mission. As with anything, there is always room for improvement. They have sometimes been short-staffed due to the Pandemic in dining and housekeeping. However, we have seen other members of the team, such as environmental services, marketing, the concierge, housing manager, and even the executive director step in to help cover the shifts to meet the residents’ needs. These issues were not deal-breakers and are understandable. My mother’s move to Westwood Ridge is one of the best decisions she has ever made, and her quality of life has been maintained. All who have visited her there have been very impressed. I rest well at night knowing that she is safe and sound in her large, bright, cheery apartment, surrounded by friendly neighbors and caring staff.

Most definitely a great place to work for a kitchen job! You got awesome leads that are willing to work with you and help you out and then you have a phenomenal kitchen supervisor ang who is a BEAST at her job and makes you feel very welcome, and then you got David and ace both are very attentive managers who are than willing to drop everything and be there to help you out but yes this place is most for someone who is looking for a fun filled positive area!

Walker Methodist is nice place to be .My mom had the chance to spend a little time at West Wood Ridge TCU about a month and a half ago the staff was wonderful and very attentive to my mom as I know she can be a hand full. The staff answered every question and concern I had they even went the exact mile to find adult daycares for my mom can attend out in the community. My mom say every day when am I going to bring he back to visit cause she look at everyone here as good people here at West Wood Ridge and I would say that was a good experience for her and me. It was good enough that I apply for employment and got hired cause I would like to leave the same impact on someone elses life that the staff here at West Wood Ridge left on my Mom and Me.

My mother has been in a care suite for over two years. She has also been in both wings of transitional care and a short stay in the assisted living apartments. It is nice for her to be in her community and have the variety of services available. The facility is clean and MOST staff are friendly and accommodating, especially caregivers, physical therapists, concierges, life enrichment staff, marketing staff and human resource staff. The care suites offers a comfortable, cozy setting and for the most part a caring staff. There has been quite a bit of transition, but an effort is made to keep reliable personnel. Life enrichment activities have kept my mom as active as she is able to be. She enjoys a weekly visit to the salon to get her hair done and an occasional manicure by a life enrichment employee. When we go for walks she is greeted by friendly staff in transitional care and throughout the facility. Shes not crazy about the food. It is carted to her area and sits for quite awhile before it is served, thus often looses flavor and becomes soggy. There are four wonderful family dinners throughout the year, and other fun events for residents to enjoy. For the most part my mom is well cared for.

Love Westwood Ridge! My Dad has lived there for 3 years now, a year and a half each in an independent apartment and now the Care Suites. Excellent care, lots of fun and varied activities. The staff are so friendly and easy to work with. The facility hosts a family dinner night four times a year that is always a lovely time. Food is tasty and balanced. Atmosphere is cozy. Dad even has a personal trainer right in the building to help him with walking and balance 1:1. He loves the beachball volleyball and exercise classes. Dad couldnt be in a better place!

This is a very comfortable and friendly community of people that seem to care about one another. My mom has lived at Westwood Ridge building One for two years and I have no complaints at all about the services that she receives. The common areas have been updated and kept immaculately clean. The new Chef is providing a variety of menu options daily for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed outdoor barbeques!

My mom was at Walker Westwood Ridge @ 61 Thompson Ave for rehab for a fractured hip. The place is extremely clean. The staff was friendly & very caring. She also bragged about how great the food was. She was there during Christmas so we were able to reserve the family room so the whole family could celebrate with her @ Walker Westwood Ridge. She had a wonderful Christmas and we were so happy to have a beautiful room to make her day special!! I picked her up last night after spending 30 days there. She received many hugs and goodbyes from staff . I am very satisfied with the care she received and would recommend it.
