I am over the moon that our dad is in a safe, clean and friendly facility. He’s been there 3 months now and I and my 2 brothers visit as much as time allows. Never have we seen anything less than a clean environment. I usually have lunch at least twice weekly and the food has always been a better dining experience than a lot of commercial restaurants. The staff is the sweetest bunch of folks who obviously care about the residents. The few times Dad has accidentally tripped his “panic button” (lanyard around his neck which his cat sometimes activates) someone is there to check on him within, it seems like, seconds. There are many different activities planned for the residents monthly and they can participate in as many or as few as they want. When I’ve had questions or concerns and leave a text message, it is returned promptly. Our entire family would give this facility 10 stars if we could!

I am coming up on my year here at Tonganoxie and it has been a year of improvement for the better. The individuals that have stayed with us through our positive changes have gain tremendous amount of knowledge and skills to better serve the residents and family members as they need and I am constantly being told by families they glad their loved one is here. There is still room for improvement but as a team we can only go up with this dedicated group of individuals and can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store. If you want to see what we are all about I encourage you to stop by and see for yourself, I know I look forward to family and friends alike.

This facility is people oriented and my overall experience has been pleasant. The staff members check on my Mother a lot and they give her the liberty to do some things on her own when she wants to. One thing I liked is the housekeeping staff came in and showed us how to set the room up to allow her more room to walk around. They are also very good at keeping her room clean. Like any other facility, there have been a few bumps in the road in the beginning. There was some issue of miscommunication and when I gave them one of her medications, somehow it didn’t make it to her. The other thing that is a small issue is that when my mom receives her food, it’s sometimes cold. I would recommend this facility to other families.

When dad first moved into this community I would have given them a two or three. I believe he was not evaluated properly before he moved in so they were not prepared for him when he moved in. Things were corrected quickly. The community is clean and the food is good. The nursing staff are really good and encouraging. Overall they do a good job.

When I contacted them for information about their community it sounded like they were not a good fit for our needs. They were not able to do transports if needed. It was not part of their normal services but they were willing to try and were happy to see her for an assessment. I got helpful and upfront feedback.
