I work in the field and visited this community last week for the first time to do my general outreach visits throughout the area. I met with Nicole Fortner the Senior Living Living Advisor who was very welcoming & professional. She showed me around their community it was very well kept, the residents that I saw through out the community looked very content, and the staff were friendly. I appreciate her taking the time out of her day to show me around. They offer some very nice apartments and amenities there.

I cannot say enough positive comments about the staff and administration at Legacy Pointe. The entire staff treated my mother with love, care and respect. The staff continually checked on her welfare and went above and beyond to make sure that she was happy comfortable and treated her like family. It is a fantastic place.

You cannot beat the kind caring staff at Legacy. Everyone makes you feel like you have the upmost importance to them. There are so many great activities to do daily and tons of food options to choose from. Menus change daily and the “extra on demand options” that change weekly as well.

From my very first phone call to inquire about more information and setting up a tour I was very positively impressed. I found the explanations clear and understandable. After going home and thinking about it I was asked to participate in the 30 day respite stay at Legacy Pointe Assisted Living (fully furnished trial stay). The room has a very nice view and furniture. There is plenty of room for personal items to make it a home. The meals are excellent 3 meals a day with multiple options to choose from. All of the staff is very well trained and friendly. Management is very helpful and they really care about us residents that live at Legacy.

From the Executive Director Jacobi to Shawn the Director of Nursing, to the Senior Living Advisor Michael, everyone welcomes you with kindness and grace. I am a home health rep so have been in every community in the area, and this one by far is one of the nicest and friendliest.

As an employee, I feel cared about and valued, as well as my opinions matter. As far as care for our residents, we offer the best programming and activities one can receive. My mother lived at Legacy Pointe Assisted Living for over two years. During that time she enjoyed the staff, the beautiful courtyard, and the excellent care provided there. The nurses and CNAs are well trained, caring and compassionate. The facility has been recently redecorated and looks wonderful. Legacy Assisted Living has been a wonderful place for my mother to live. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful. They treat my mother as if she is part of their family. Even though it was my mothers choice to go into assisted living, my siblings and I had reservations of how well she would like it and how she may be treated. But it has been the best decision she could have made, and we are thankful and grateful she is at Legacy.

Our family did extensive research in the Iowa City area when it became necessary to relocate our 98 year old father to a senior care facility. After much due diligence and many visits to several other places, Legacy Pointe Iowa became the obvious number one choice. We are four siblings who live in all parts of the country so communication was of great importance. From our first meeting, all the administrators and staff have been professional, caring and beyond helpful in guiding us through the process of finding just the right living situation for our dad. And it didnt stop once he moved in. The attention to detail in making sure he is comfortable and has all that he needs is ongoing. When a family makes a decision to move a parent to senior living its a big deal! We found the options for various livings spaces, services offered, to the character of the folks living there, the perfect fit for our dad. Our family is very happy we found Legacy Pointe Iowa and recommend it with confidence!

I moved my parents to Legacy from Kentucky in June 2019 and have been very happy with the decision. My mother is in Assisted Living and my father in Memory Care. The facilities themselves are pleasant, spacious, well-maintained, and well-designed for their divergent purposes, with the Assisted Living building being now at the tail end of a very nice update (paint, carpet, furniture, etc.). The staff at all levels--from the Director to the aides--have been just terrific. The top-level staff were supremely helpful on the front end when I first began visiting Legacy and during the move-in process when we had to make a last-minute decision to place my father in Memory Care instead of with my mother in Assisted Living. Then once things settled down I began to appreciate even more the employees who handle the day-to-day (and night-to-night) work of caring for the residents. My mother has said more than once that They take very good care of us, and I can see that for myself. Moreover, my mother feels very good about the care they are taking of my father, and I concur there as well. I enjoy going over to check up on him and chatting with the staff and other residents. Like another reviewer, I had some concerns about what seemed for a while like a high rate of staff turnover, but things seem to have settled down on that score. And like that same reviewer, I worry about the potential for rising costs in a situation where assets are limited, income is fixed, and the duration of time well be paying those costs is uncertain. But that is more a critique of the broken health care system in the US than of Legacy per se. Let me end by saying that for many if not most of us a decision to move elderly relatives from their homes into institutional settings will not be easy, and every family will face a different calculation of costs versus benefits. But this has been a good decision for our family. My father really needed 24-7 supervision that my mother could no longer manage, and she, in turn, benefits from the broadened social world of the assisted living community, where she has made friends and enjoys activities such as the exercise classes, musical events, and so on. But she can still go visit my father any time she wants and feels able, which is key. I cant wave a magic wand and make my parents young and healthy again. Given the realities, Legacy has been a real lifesaver.

The staff at Legacy Senior Living (Iowa City) make all the difference in my mothers life. While at Legacy, my mother has lived in independent care and is now in memory care. The staff has been tremendous in helping navigate difficult patches. Plus, the community is quite friendly and nurturing. Over the past 4 years, my mother has made many friends. At times, weve struggled to pay the ever-rising cost of living at this facility. And, staff turnover has been an issue, as well. In the end, I cant think of another place for my mother. I recommend that you consider Legacy Senior Living when choosing a place for your loved one(s).

Family Is Delighted

We reviewed facilities very carefully for our mother, including asking the RNs (friends of ours) who do nursing home quality assurance. They told us which facilities to avoid, and gave us the top 2 to look at. We chose Legacy after 3 family members were given separate tours and evaluated for themselves. Mom moved in this year. The facilities and staff have exceeded all of our expectations for courteousness, attentiveness, cleanliness, promptness, provisions for mom's few needs, with services available should she need them. She was very hesitant to live in an apartment, and did not want to have to mingle with a bunch of people she did not know. She was received by the residents there as family, and allowed to develop relationships at her own pace. She loves her indoor mailbox, 2 meals per day, the ice cream parlor with popcorn and cappuccino available, paying the rent monthly and letting Legacy pay all utilities, etc. Her apartment is so light and airy, and accommodated so much of her furniture from home that we do not consider it an apartment, but her home. She feels very safe there, and we are free to visit any time. They even have apartments for rent when family comes from out of town, and a large game room, a library, a fitness room, a hair salon. They post more activities and entertainment in a day than I can name. The neighborhood is full of wide sidewalks and a park, the streets are new and smooth. The maintenance folks respond immediately for any needs. The parking garage is in the basement. We could not be happier and mom is extremely pleased. They have a separate building with assisted living and a separate building for Memory problems if those needs must be addressed down the line. Although we take mom for her appointments, they accommodate readily for rides to/from appointments. They provide outings for all to various malls, grocery stores, theaters, etc. The units come in different square footages, different arrangements, different numbers of bedrooms, and are complete with everything needed. I have not found a single thing to complain about. We are so glad we chose Legacy for our mother! Even our generation is starting to move in for safety and security purposes and convenience of living overall as well. I would move in tomorrow if my husband didn't need his workshop - ha! Legacy in Iowa City is highly recommended.

Both of our parents lived in the independent building for a year and loved it. After mom passed away, dad continues to live there and be with the many friends they made together. The facility is very new and anything that needs repaired is attended to promptly. We have eaten several meals there, and the food is excellent. They can choose off a menu of they don't care for either of the selections offered. There are many activities to attend both onsite and off. The staff is very professional and know the residents by name. Housekeeping staff helps dad keep his place up. We feel very comfortable with all the services provided by Legacy!
