Look, dealing with a parent who is reluctant to move into a long term care facility of any kind is frustrating and exhausting. There are just so many details to work out with various parties and the process is ongoing and sometimes seems like it will never end. Perhaps I will be like this when I turn 85, since this is about the time (well, a little earlier) that we had to hunt for a facility. Luckily, a spot at Silver Springs opened up and we jumped on it. Although a rocky period (not Silver Springs but the other parties that are involved in this process), the staff at Silver Springs has been extremely helpful, patient, and accomodating to help my father into their place. Rhonda, all the front desk people (I am terrible with names), the housekeeping and maintenance staff have all been very friendly. The plan is that in May, my father will settle in and I hope that he can finally slow down and enjoy himself. Although his room is small, it has a nice south facing window and really, how much stuff do you need when you get to that age? It's functional and clean and besides, I think Dad will be out and about and not spending so much time in his room.

We love this place for our Dad. On the outside, it looks like a prison but inside, it is marvellous. We were looking for an in-town place with outdoor space, a decent apartment, good food, etc. We didn't need a grand piano in the foyer or sommelier service at dinner. Silver Springs met all the requirements. Plus, it is a non-profit, so that made it even better. They buy old hotels around BC and turn them into senior living. Genius. It is a very friendly place, and I have met a ton of residents. Some ladies have been there for 15 years. Some folks had their parents in here and then moved in when it was their turn. I have already picked out my room. The food is excellent. I have eaten it. They use real ingredients. My Dad has gained weight. But Fish Friday is only popular among fish lovers. Good thing there is an alternative for the hysterically vocal fish haters. There are plenty of activities to participate in: music, cards, happy hour, ice cream socials, art, special events, etc. The family can join in the activities with the resident, which is a blast. The courtyards are fantastic for visiting, eating, and drinking beer —plenty of outdoor space. Bring the whole family.Don Cherry's and Boston Pizza are within short walking distance if you want to go out.The staff is outstanding. Every last one of them is a kind and caring individual. They bent over backwards to help us get our Dad moved in and set up.And they continued the same level of service once he moved in. Interior Health is onsite, so you can get extra services through them as needed. If you like your parent, it is a wonderful place to move them too. But, on the other hand, if you dislike your parent, it is cost-effective and will preserve your inheritance.

A very warm, cozy atmosphere with super friendly staff who were always helpful and kind to both mom and dad before their eventual passing. Patience, a sense of humor and a love for people are staff and management traits, they really do show that they care in all interactions with residents and visitors. Our family is forever grateful for the safe, clean senior's community provided by Silver Springs, where our parent's chose to live in their golden years. Thank-you!!

they are still allowing unvaccinated people in, so they are not checking for their vaccine passport. Not Happy. Otherwise great place, my father has been there for a couple of years and they have been very good to him.
