We looked at a few places before choosing Longlake …some cheaper some more expensive. This place had the best "energy"…lively and robust.

Resided at Chateau for 5 months and got treated like royalty by friendly staff and other residents. Only concern was rising residency monthly costs.

Recently 2 friends and I visited a resident friend at Longlake Chateau…We were welcomed by a friendly staff member and seated with our friend. We enjoyed a very delicious lunch, having several choices. The atmosphere was light and pleasant . Our friend's room was neat and tidy. We enjoyed another tasty lunch for a very reasonable price. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. We will be back……

My parents entered the home just before the pandemic. I have found the staff to be very kind and caring. I believe they've faced staffing challenges as it's hard to find workers after the pandemic but they have many excellent long standing employees which speaks to the quality of the management. I have some previous experience with other facilities and feel the personal touch of the staff makes all the difference. It gave our family great comfort especially during COVID to know our parents were being cared for by such wonderful people.

Long Lk Chateau in Nanaimo is a great facility. The staff are all wonderful and go out of their way to make you and your family member feel welcome. Their attention to detail makes all the difference. Mom's apartment is the perfect size and her furniture and personal items make it more like home. Everything is always well maintained and very clean. They have lots of programs, great entertainment and their own bus for appointments and fun excursions. Even a hairdresser on site ! I'm very happy that Mom is so well taken care of and never worry about her being alone and lonely. They love her almost as much as I do. Sincerely Pam Bellingham

1. A safe place to live 2.caring staff 3. Housekeeping 4. “24 hour cafe” 5. Surrounding grounds are well kept The staff at Longlake Chateau provides a “safe haven” for residents and workers. With the ongoing pandemic, staff have been very professional and caring. They are well trained in procedures that enhance any care required for residents as well as employees in our community. Their “caring” takes on a loving note, making residents like myself feel like we really matter.

Long Lake Chateau - according to the Atria website is Assisted Living and Retirement Communities | Atria Senior .. https://www.atriaseniorliving.com "Atria Senior Living: helping people live better together. We create caring, connected senior living communities where older people can live comfortably, eat well, explore their interests and enjoy the company of good neighbors." Further from the truth. Do Not Believe the Propaganda on their web sites. If you see anything more than a 1-star rating, they are all for prior to this Trudeaudemic. They appear to be always short staff, the staff in the management office are extremely rude and not helpful (after September 2020 to December 2021 - family member removed from this dump). Prior to this COVID nonsense this place was great. The staff including office staff appeared to truly care for the residents, it had a family atmosphere. Now they could care less about the health and welfare of the residents. Services have dramatically decreased and the fees are quite high. I have spoken to other residents recently who are there, and they too are looking at leaving, once they find a suitable affordable alternative. Wonder about house keeping, they service the room only once a week, if you need food delivery they will charge $10+ per meal, if a family member has an issue they may contact you. Since the start of this Fraudemic, the sevice has gone completely downhill. They do not want people to socialize in the community or with family members. As the previous post states - now they only want to separate seniors and family members from their money. They never check on the residents, even those they know who are fragile. You have to do it yourself or hire external PSWs to help. The only thing that they provide are meals in the dining room. Virtually no extra curricular activities, no excursions, no transportation. With this kind of environment, lack of any assistance, and high cost, better off having your family member at home. They should even be allowed to operate. Yes, the food is bland, only paid laundry services, they vaxx'd residents without informing them what they were getting. We know a few of the residents who suffered adverse reactions after the jab and one who died within a week of the second jab - this individual was quite healthy, everyone we spoke to stated that it was unexpected(?). You have to wear a mask in the apartment when visiting, you have to be jabbed and some of the staff become belligerent if you do not wear a mask outside. And for those Maskers out there peer reviewed medical scientific studies have proven conclusively that non-medical masks, N95 masks, are ineffective. Military documents have also state the Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin are a curative to COVID. And I do have authenticated documents to validate my statements regarding the Fraudemic Narative." If possible I would have put a 0-star rating.

Before settling in here, do your research. Our experience with Longlake Chateau (October 2020 to January 2021) and its staff was horrific. The goal of this place seems simply to separate seniors from their money. The marketing agent will be relentless. With no interview or assessment process in place to see if a resident is an appropriate fit, her goal seems to be to get anyone with money into the spare rooms. Our 89-year-old relative suffered some health complications that left her with temporary mobilization difficulties. As a result, she spent all her time sitting on her couch in her room. No one knocked on the door to see if she was adjusting well. (They have a “hospitality manager”, who was conspicuously absent at all times.) Bland meals were dropped off at the door, with no one noting that they were being returned uneaten. The manager claimed that the room was being cleaned regularly, but the reality was that the carpet didn’t see a vacuum during the first two weeks of her stay. The garbage can ended up overfilling so badly that we took the garbage home with us after a visit. For any senior, moving into a different residence – be it independent living or not – can be stressful. You’d think an occasional knock on the door might be the human thing to do. Maybe see if she needed help with the TV or walk her into walking to the common room. They definitively showed their true colours when, after only two weeks, our relative’s health took a turn and she ultimately ended up in palliative care. Two weeks of residency cost her ten weeks of rent. Not a hint of help from their Community Business Director and little sympathy from the manager. No break for the meals missed. Charging for housekeeping that was inadequate. In fairness, it could have been worse, as their first demand was to hold her to the full twelve weeks, ($10K from a senior on a fixed pension). If a senior becomes palliative during their initial three-month contract period, would be nice to see a bit of compassion. But compassion and caring are not what Longlake Chateau and Atria are about, and the dollar is the bottom line. I think everyone wants to find a place that their senior loved ones can relax, enjoy life, and feel respected. Longlake Chateau was not that place.

If you are reading this you may be checking this out for a family member or perhaps for yourself. I am 69 years young, healthy and quite capable of running a household. The thing is..I dont want to. Living at the Chateau (or Pink Palace as it is known) is the best move I have ever made. I feel fortunate to be able to afford this unique lifestyle and that there was availability. Beautiful well tended surroundings, excellent food and menu choices, surrounded by friendly, caring, kind and hard working staff all contribute to the positive move I have made. Life is about chances, changes and choices. I took a chance and changed my life. I made the right choice when I chose Long Lake Chateau to be my home.

My Grandmother lived here for many many years. She was very happy living here. The staff was wonderful, the food was always great and everything was always clean. I know that my Grandma loved the that there was a hairdresser on site, it made her very happy not always having to leave on days that she struggled. She had a house keeper come to her room on a regular bases. She was happy living there, I think it is a wonderful place. We have as a family many happy and cherished memories.
