Went for a showing on this location for a one bedroom apartment. Ryan was very help and polite. He did a great job on showing the property. However the property is not all that fantastic. I was quoted a monthly rate for over $1600 with parking fee of $30. Then there is utilities and also also an unheard of $20 management fee for key fobs. Getting moved in would have been the hardest part. The complex is just not accommodating for a simple move in. The only thing going for this apartment is location. It is perfectly located near a super market and eateries. The local super market is a super short walk, but it is prices are high. The common area area could use a lot of TLC. It would take little work to improve the look. When you see rust discoloration on the concrete, it looks trashy. When the paint job on the door of the show unit is incomplete and brush work is sloppy, it makes it look trashy. On the inside the paint job was just as bad. I could actually see where the painter missed the wall and brushed part of the floor. The upgrades to the unit were kind of weak. The fridge is at best $350 as well as cook range and microwave. The rent should be much lower.

Having lived in Glen Burnie apartments of several varieties in the last 10 years (from renting peoples' basements to section 8 living and so on) Glen Burnie Town Apartments has been the nicest apartment community I've lived in yet. So much so that I don't really see any point in leaving until I'm ready to take the next step in my living situation such as buying a house or condo. Assuming you are a generally self-sufficient type of person, the units are spacious (originally designed for wheelchair access and mobility of the elderly so doorways, hallways and bathrooms are extra large) and amenities are newer than those often found in the 1970s construction of other apartment communities (so newer sinks, toilets, cabinets and countertops). It's nice. Unfortunately there have been some issues with management inasmuch as it appears the longer term residents of the community are unfairly harsh on each new face that arrives. We've gone through quite a few in the last 3 years, and every one of them has been courteous and capable in the role, however a very specific set of original community residents very quickly swoop in with demands of community refurbishments and complaints that never seem to change. Not sure what the deal is there, honestly, other than the fact that these people are elderly, home most of the time and therefore (potentially) more sensitive to consistent issues that never get the chance to be addressed. On my front, the community has been pleasant, with people mostly keeping to themselves but not at all unfriendly. The inner courtyard layout is nice as it provides a sense of escape from the hustle and bustle of the world outside the community and simply seems quieter. Maintenance has been a little hit or miss as maintenance staff seems to change with each new manager coming in, but in general issues that have been brought up have been quickly addressed and the 24-hour call center has always been appreciated for those emergency maintenance needs. With a fenced off parking area and badge reader access to main doors, the building stands out among the general accessibility of other Glen Burnie apartments and definitely lends to peace of mind in regards to security (and having had my car broken into at other apartment communities, it's appreciated to have a more secure space in which to park). The community is also in the epicenter of Glen Burnie, with walking a very realistic option in regard to eating at restaurants, visiting bars, grocery shopping or access to public transportation (light rail and bus are both right around the corner). To date I most enjoy walking to Honey Bee Diner in the mornings for a delicious breakfast and coffee! I have 2 pet bunnies in my unit and the management seems to be perfectly happy about their presence. One of them chewed up the corner of the carpet in the dining area (which is currently makeshift bunny space) and I spoke with the current manager about it, to which she seemed thankful I was proactive on the matter and instructed me on proper course of action to address the damage without cost to myself and ensuring no compromise of the security deposit, which is stellar. No community is ever 100% perfect, especially in Glen Burnie which is on the lower end of middle incomes at its best, thus most apartment and even condo complexes are low end to account for the generally poorer demographics of the area. Glen Burnie Town Apartments bucks the trend, however, and while pricier than the other complexes I've lived in, it's not that much more expensive. However it is a limited occupancy community with only 55 units, which is great for residents to retain general quiet and peacefulness but makes it difficult to get in if you're unlucky on standing residency within the community. Still worth looking into, though, should you be moving into Glen Burnie and looking for a nicer, newer apartment community with plenty of peace and quiet despite being in the epicenter of Glen Burnie.
