If you are looking for a carefree place to live, with an abundance of activities to do, I can vouch for Solea, Alamo Ranch. The epitome of active living. I have been a resident for approximately 4 months and the on-site staff of Solea at Alamo Ranch makes you feel like family/friend from the first day and beyond. When I first stepped on site Sabrina, Solea, Assistant Manager, professionally greeted me. Although I could not move in right away because I was trying to sell my house, she guided me through the process of becoming a resident. Nevertheless, she followed up with me for months to see if my situation changed. This shows you the consistency in her character even after you move in. Sabrina is the linchpin in daily interactions with the resident. When you need something, she can make it happen!! When I was moving in, I met the entire maintenance staff (Eric and Miguel). On moving day, both introduced themselves and cleared up any last-minute maintenance workorders. Eric, Maintenance Superintendent, thrives on superior customer service They give you the reassurance that everything is taken care of, and if you ever need anything, there is nothing big or too small he and his team cannot manage. The maintenance team is far superior to any maintenance staff I have seen in my lifetime. When I picked up my keys, I met Cilia, Director of On-site Operations. She is the master mind behind the complex operations of managing 180 units. Cilia’s role and responsibilities go way beyond the meticulous administrative requirements to meet local, state, and federal requirements, she flawlessly manages everyone’s expectations like a senior executive. Truly remarkable!

I love living at Solea Alamo Ranch. I lived here for 4 years when the complex first opened and enjoyed the sense of belonging. I recently moved back after being away for two years. What you see in the Solea advertising is really how it is to live here. Everyone is friendly and engaging in all sorts of activities and entertainment. Every member of the management team goes out of their way to let us know that they appreciate each person who lives here. They know everyone by name not just apartment numbers. I believe anyone who lives here would say that you can be as active as you want or not. The lifestyle is completely up to you. The biggest point I would like to make is that it is a community of friends and staff who care about each other each and every day. The management team goes above and beyond and I think it’s another big reason why people love living here. I suggest you come see for yourself.

I just signed my third lease here. I watched the apartment being built. I knew that it’s where I wanted to be. The ladies and gent in the Office are so friendly and make sure all of your questions have timely answers. Maintenance is awesome as well. If there is a problem, they are right on it. We are looking to down size and toured this complex several months ago. Have looked at several other apartments in San Antonio as well. Generally there's a trend to make the entrance ways and common areas very plush, however the actual apartments are extremely low end looking with cheap flooring, trim, cabinets and appliances. Find it an odd marketing approach to show you quite nice looking common areas then end the tour with a very low quality, cheap looking apartment. It's like two totally different facilities. It's a total turn off. Poor quality and unrealistic application fees made this place a non starter for us.

I recently moved to Solea Alamo Ranch at the behest of my sons and I originally I had no intentions on moving to a senior building however after visiting I was extremely surprised. As soon as I walked in I was extremely impressed how friendly and knowledgeable the two young ladies Cila and Sabrina were. Any thoughts I had about living in a senior complex was rapidly dismissed after speaking with them. I saw all the events and activities that they had for the residents and they had no time to be old constantly going places and socializing with people they had no choice. Solea the building itself exceeded any doubts I might have had. Upon meeting the residents and seeing the building I wanted to move in immediately. To this day I have had no regrets and I have made amazing new friends. I would strongly suggest that if you came here and spoke with the staff and saw all the activities you will do the same thing I did.

My Mother, Aunt and Uncle are residents of Solea. Two years ago when my Mom and Aunt told me they had decided to move to Solea, I was excited for them that they found this awesome community with amenities and brand new apartments. Pricing is on the high end as far as fair market rents, this is because Solea has wonderful amenities geared towards their residents enjoying their retirement years. It makes my heart smile to see my mom happy and going to social events. In my opinion it’s worth every penny. Having said that, it’s unfortunate that some need to be reminded that those amenities are not for public use. Their pool is not a public pool, their common area and clubhouse are not public areas. Solea’s amenities are an extension of the residents HOME and should be treated as such. I’ve been to many guest invited events. The residents have welcomed my daughter and I with open arms. I’ve never felt like they didn’t like children or have anything against other residents spending time with grandchildren. Quite the opposite actually. They love talking to each other about their kids and grandkids. Every time I go to an event I have a great time, but I never forget the fact that I am a guest so I act like I would in someone’s home by picking up after myself and teaching my daughter how to be a guest in someone’s home by not allowing her to run around, make noise, or throw things that don’t belong to her on the floor. I’ve had many conversations with the residents about the profession they retired from and what their hobbies are now that they’re retired. They all have a lot in common. They’re retired military veterans, firemen, law enforcement, medical field, financial institutions etc. they spent their working years serving their community and/or country. They moved to Solea because they wanted to spend their retirement years in a community of like-minded people in their age group that they can socialize with. It is important enough to them that they signed a legal binding lease agreement to do so. They’ve more than earned the right to retire however they like after a lifetime of service. This choice doesn’t make them complainers or children haters. My Mom continues to spend as much time as she can with my daughter, they go shopping, go out to eat, hang out in my Moms apartment and yes, occasionally go to the pool. Her retirement living at Solea, following the rules hasn’t hindered any time spent with her grandchild. She’s developed a wonderful balance of time spent with my daughter and I as well as being able to enjoy the social events. With the exception of one or two, the residents are respectful of each other so they can all enjoy the beautiful clubhouse, pool, Billiard room, library, gym and theater. The remaining few have decided to bully the rest to get the rules rewritten the way they want in spite of the contract (which included the rules) that they signed. It’s hard for me to see so many of them feeling like they can’t enjoy the things they’ve worked so hard for due to the bullying or because folks that don’t live there being loud, disrupting the residents event. There are times that they are uncomfortable in the community they live. Unfortunately I saw this first handed last week when a woman stopped what she was doing to stare at my mom as she went by with the intent to intimidate. It took every ounce of strength I had to restrain myself in defense of my mother because that is not the person she raised me to be. I don’t blame management, coddling indignant tenants is definitely not in their job description. From what I can tell, management is doing everything they can legally. They are not playground monitors. They should not have to tell people to act right. My Mom holds the management in high regard so for now that’s all I need to know. In spite of the few bad apples I still rated Solea 5 stars because of the amenities, good management, beautiful apartments and close knit community. I have a feeling the problems listed in several of these reviews will work themselves out.

Update - After management originally only had pool time Saturday from 12pm-6pm, my mother expressed her frustrations. Management was nice enough to hear her out and extend it to Sundays 12pm-7pm and Saturdays 12pm-7pm. Now it is fellow residents that are harassing my mother. They don't like kids being there even. They are reporting lies to management saying my mother harassed them simply because she came out of her apartment to see if her friends were near the pool. She was poolside maybe 5 min, let some of the people know she had a plastic wine cup (as many of them have reported her having glass near the pool which is never the case) but didn't say anything more. It's really becoming ridiculous. She obeys the rule with the number of guests, kids are always accompanied by her if they use the movie room, etc. People are just being terrible and it sounds like it's simply because she wanted extra time at the pool with her grandkids :(. More recently children do not seem to be welcomed by many residents and they act more annoyed if they are visiting. My mother has been a resident since right around when they opened. One of the reasons she chose this place was because they allowed grandkids at the pool. We've always been respectful, cleaned up after ourselves and often we were the only ones in the pool. We've helped some residents with mobility issues in and out of the pool as well. Many residents bring their grandkids. Management recently added a new rule to have family time Saturday and Sunday 12-7pm and although harder for some residents that have grandkids visit on the weekends, much more reasonable than just one day. Overall it is other residence that create a little bit more drama on the property. Acting as police or trying to manage the property themselves. My family has always followed the rules when we visited. If we had an extra kid or two it was with another resident there joining us but we didn’t break the guest rules. We were respectful. Our kids didn’t run around the complex however other residents feeling the need to police would report on my mother saying my kids were running around and it would ironically be when we weren’t even there. Some policing residents decided to report that one evening my son put some pillows on the ground in the clubhouse. Everyone made us feel very welcome at the clubhouse at the time, encouraging us to sing karaoke with them but apparently a few pillows on the ground for a few minutes was an issue and instead of asking us to pick the pillows up they wanted to report us to management. It’s hard for someone to feel comfortable in the place they are calling home when there are so many people with bother better to do than complain. My mom has LOVED living at Solea until recently as the complainers get worse and worse.

Solea Alamo Ranch has been a wonderful place to live! Any negative comments about Solea are perpetrated to inject bad vibes about rules. Rules are there to be followed and there are those that believe that rules don't apply to them. Rules are also established for the greater good of all the residents that live at Solea Alamo Ranch; not for those that feel entitled just because they pay rent. We live in a world where rules are constantly changing due to bad behavior's of a hand full of a few people that push the envelope. In regards to grand children, residents do bring their children/grand children to swim however, there have been many instances of the resident not being present or bringing friends of their grandchildren in numbers. In addition, the lease has always stated that residents are permitted to only have 4 guest per resident household and this rule has been pushed beyond the limit. Nineteen people for one family that stayed all day long at the pool leaving other residents without the ability to find seating by the pool. Small children to teenage or older non-residents allowed to run around the premises as if they reside here. Again, without the accompaniment of the resident which, is also written in the lease. I have seen children running amok in the clubhouse without a word from the resident, that may be with them. The clubhouse is not a bouncy house and residents as a whole would like to keep it looking nice and inviting. Imagine sitting with a group on Sunday for a nice conversation and coffee and four kids are running rampant, yelling, and grabbing and touching everything in their path. Solea has a private pool for residents and not a public pool yet, there are those that admittedly and openly say, that they don't care about rules. Solea is an active 55+ residence where the + does not mean bringing anybody you want regardless of what the lease rules say. Yes, new rules for summer have been instated otherwise the majority of residents would be inundated with running, screaming loads of unattended children. On the other hand the latter is not the majority as there are far more residents that do follow the rules. So in fact, the rules have been put in place for the few that do not follow the rules. Now that Solea Alamo Ranch is almost at its peak, of being fully populated, rules that may have applied pre-covid obviously needed to be updated. The clubhouse, pool facilities etc. were closed to all residents during covid so the pool was in fact empty.There are now plenty of residents that are enjoying the pool on a daily basis and should be able to enjoy the pool without distractions. Life at Solea is not subject to grumpy, disgruntled opinions but to what the expectations of this establishment are as a whole. I would venture to say that most residents came to live at Solea to enjoy an adult surrounding and avoid all the issues that are found at complex's that are open to all ages.

I have been living at Solea Alamo Ranch for eight weeks. The staff is friendly and available to answer any questions I may have. There are activities in the clubhouse, and I can join as many or a few as I want. Some are: exercise classes, Mon. thru Fri., with knowledgeable instructors (I work at my own pace); card games; crafts; dance classes; a once a month chat with staff and residents, and many more. The activities are tailored to the residents requests. The Solea staff hosted a Thanksgiving dinner and a Christmas dinner and party. The get together's have been fun, and I have met many residents.
