I have sent many referrals to JK House of Grace over the past couple of years and every family that tours the homes...moves in and FALLS IN LOVE! The care provided by this family run business deserves more than 5 stars. Highly recommend especially for the more severe dementia cases that other facilities will not accept.

The dedicated staff at JK House of Grace treats its residents with respect and kindness, seeing beyond their disabilities to the real persons they are. The owner, Maria, has been referred to as "The Dementia Whisperer" because she has a special knack for working with people compromised by dementia. Her family is also involved and exhibits patience and love in their interactions with residents. To the caregivers on staff, the work is much more than a job as they build loving relationships with the residents. It feels like a family home. I am grateful my husband had such a caring and supportive place in which to spend his final 8 months.

JK House of Grace has been and is a real answer to prayer. Maria Khader and her family and the staff are so kind and caring as well as conscientious and professional. They work personally with each of the residents to really know them in order to meet their physical and emotional needs. They pay very close attention to each resident and treat them with the respect that they deserve. My loved one who is there was so lost before coming to Jk House of Grace from a much bigger facility, where there were so many residents. It was impossible for the staff to have a close bond with the residents there. JK House of Grace is like a big family in a home environment, as much like being at home as possible. My whole family and I are so very grateful for JK House of Grace. Knowing my loved one is there, being lovingly and well taken care of brings such peace of mind and heart. Thank you JK House of Grace!

Two years after learning of my mother's dementia, the family made the difficult decision to move her from the home she lived in for over 50 years, to a nearby assisted living facility. She had a few acquaintances who lived there, got regular visits from family, long time friends and friends from her church. She especially enjoyed the live entertainment. What was lacking was feeling at home. There was a constant change in staff, making it difficult to remember names and faces. Often when she needed assistance, she had to wait, frequently for an unreasonable amount of time. She used a walker during most of her time there and after about 5-1/2 years, she was wheelchair bond. When that happened, we were told it would take multiple caretakers to transfer her from the wheelchair to the bathroom, her bed or a chair. After 6 years and as her dementia increased, we were informed that staff could no longer manage her level of care. Soon after we moved my mother to JK House of Grace. Before she even moved, we sensed this was the right place for her. JK House is exactly that, a house and not a large building. Immediately you could see my mother felt at home and was comfortable there. The owner, Maria Khader, her family who works there and the staff made my mother feel like family. When there were birthdays and holidays, families were invited and residents came from two other nearby homes, owned by JK House. It was like neighbors getting together. The staff was warmhearted, it took only two of them to transfer my mother, she got three hot meals and snacks, was involved in daily activities, often had meals outside on nice days and still had regular visits from family and friends. When COVID hit, Ms. Khader bent over backwards, making sure family had connection to their loved ones, whether it was window visits, media visits, or outdoor visits, with masks and 6-feet apart. Although my mother has now passed away, Ms. Khader continues to check on the family. I myself was so impressed with the quality of care there, I've gone back on occasion to visit with residents and engage in craft projects and other activities. Without a doubt, I would not hesitate to refer family and friends to JK House of Grace.

I can't say enough good things about JK House of Grace and Maria Khader who owns and runs these small group of homes. She hand picks her staff and her entire family is involved with running the homes and literally a godsend for my mom and for me! I was worried about a 2nd transition and the emotional toll on my mom. Maria said "Let me handle it", She went over and took my mom out for the day, brought her to JK House to have lunch and observed my mom and allowed her time to feel comfortable. It was a day later and mom moved in permanently with an easier transition than I expected thanks to Maria's skills and expertise in these situations. The rest was history and because it was a home and not a big facility it actually became more comforting for my mom and felt at home right away. My mom was a strong lady, I felt she'd be around for many, many years and it was just the mind going. She lived only for 4 more years after the move to JK House, and I never once was worried about her care when she was there. In the daytime there would be 2 nursing aids to watch a max of 7 residents. In the evening, there was 1 and Maria is always a phone call away. She truly cares for each resident and advocates for them. All meals are home cooked, freshly prepared from items purchased at the local markets. Throughout the day, there were other visitors, such as hospice nurses for some residents, to doctors, pastors, therapy aids, etc. Each house has a community living room and NO one sits/lays in bed all day as you see in other facilities. All the residents are dressed and moved out to the living room to be together and every resident is engaged by the aids, meals are served at the dining room table just like home so everyone eats together. There are private rooms and semi-private rooms, depends on availability. If finding a place is in your thoughts for a future time for a loved one, please make an initial call, go check things out, talk to Maria now rather than when you find yourself under pressure to make a quick decision. Nothing worse than to make a decision as important as where to place your loved one when you are in a hurry and under stress. I will say this, I made the mistake in the 1st place by loving the "glamour" of the furnishings as my mom did NOT want to go ANYWHERE and I thought that would make the transition easier on her. She was aware so finding I also looked for a facility with lots of activities I thought she'd enjoy (which ultimately she didn't), a Catholic community and seeing a level of style she was used to was important, I thought in the decision process. However, what really ended up mattering as I found the hard way, was the level of care; the care of the staff making each resident feel like they are loved and truly cared for and the watchful eye of health professionals on a daily basis. AND for her situation, she really needed eyes on her constantly which a bigger facility could not provide. I never thought I'd like a small group home or that she would either, but it actually ended up having more to offer for her safety, health and my peace of mind. A nice part of JK House is the community it builds. When other family members visit their loved one, they actually visit with all residents in the household. Maria has parties where everyone is included, birthdays are celebrated with all and before COVID, group outings or drives to just get out of the house would be arranged. I went through many years worrying about my mom before having to admit her somewhere as I tried to keep her independent as long as possible, but with each passing month, had to adjust to fit her needs as her mind progressively failed. I knew the time came when I had to keep her safe and nourished and that became the priority and as hard as it was for me to make the decision I had to make that move from independent to trusting someone else to provide the constant care she needed.

JK House of Grace has been a godsend for me and my wife who is in her seventh year with dementia. JK is a residential setting that is also a real home. Its ethos is to enable residents to live the fullest life of which each person is capable. Medications are not relied on as a management tool. Personal interaction with JK's excellent and loving care providers is why the residents are as happy as possible. If I needed care, JK House of Grace would be my first choice."

Maria and her staff took beautiful care of my mom. She was there for 3 years and Maria and her staff were kind and caring with my mom and all the residents. They treated each resident as an individual and tried to accommodate their likes and dislikes. It was a warm environment and I always felt my mom was safe and content.
July 2018
In April 2013, Mom moved to an assisted living facility. In September 2017, she had several falls and ended up in the hospital, then rehab for five weeks. Her dementia skyrocketed! She returned to the assisted living facility but on the memory care unit and in a wheelchair. Before, she was using a walker for about seven years. In April 2018, we received a call, they could no longer provide for her needs. We researched assisted living facilities and group homes and moved Mom to a group home that looked luxurious and the cost inviting. Three weeks later this proved to be a disaster. The family moved Mom to another group home we considered previously, JK HOUSE OF GRACE. Within days we knew this was where Mom should be. The owner and staff assessed mom, recognized healing that was essential, provided daily physical therapy, and engaged her in daily activities. Our family wants nothing more than to make Mom comfortable. JK House of Grace has totally accomplished this. Their passion and care has her back on a walker occasionally (something we've rarely seen in eight months), smiling, talking and feeling the love she deserves. She not only receives daily physically therapy but interaction to stimulate her mind, hugs, and compliments that remind her she's beautiful, loved, and a child of God. We are grateful for JK House of Grace and all they've done to improve Mom's quality of life and given my family the peace that passes all understanding in this time of her life.
