My family and I were very pleased with the care our mother received at Carolina Point. My sister and I made an impromptu visit before our mother was placed there for rehabilitation services, and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The receptionist was warm and friendly, and the young lady who gave us a tour was extremely kind and informative. The facility itself was very clean, and every staff member we encountered was professional and attentive to the patients. We were shown both the rehabilitation and long-term care areas, and it was clear that patients on both sides were well cared for. After my mom was admitted, the staff met with me to explain the type of care she would receive following her evaluation. I had the opportunity to meet everyone involved in her care”from administrators to her nurses”and they were all incredibly attentive. My mom, who suffered from dementia, was treated with compassion and respect, and her safety was always a top priority. What stood out the most was how comfortable and happy my mom was during her stay. In the past, when she was hospitalized, she would often become upset and want to go home. However, at Carolina Point, she never complained or became distressed when I left after visits. That meant everything to us. Ben, the caseworker, was especially helpful and supportive throughout the process. On the day my mom was discharged, several staff members gave her hugs, and she told them she would miss them. That moment truly spoke volumes about the level of care and connection they provided. Overall, my mom’s stay at this facility was a very positive experience, and we are truly grateful for the care she received.

Came in to visit my aunt today and I was horrified by the staff I tried to ask a question and I was given a sarcastic and rude response complete with eye roll by an aid with no name tag who smelled of marijuana and body odor. Health care has gone so far down hill in this state and its clear staff have stopped caring about the residents. I will say the facility is clean and the receptionist at the front was actually very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately you get what you pay for with these facilities so it could always be worse. At least its not the Brian Center Southpoint Rehab.

A good friend of mine used to be at other Pruitt location in Durham. I had asked her to be sent to Pruitt Carolina instead. This place is better for her. Also the Director of this location seems to know what she is doing. I am praying that things continue to go in a better direction for other residents too.

I came here 2 years ago to visit my friend and the place was smelly and it was very difficult to see patients not being properly cared for. I visited my friend this past weekend and the atmosphere has changed, place smelled clean and patient care seemed under control.

I have visited this facility several times in the past few months. The building is always clean. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. The grounds are kept neat and clean, which is refreshing compared to other facilities I have visited. I have also noticed that the nursing staff has increased which is an indication that they are focused on providing exceptional patient care. Kudos Carolina Point

Transitioning your loved one to a nursing facility can be very stressful. The staff at Pruitt are all so welcoming and friendly that it makes that transition much easier. Even if you arrive unannounced, someone will take the time to show you around or talk to you. They are immediately responsive to your needs or questions. I believe the staff genuinely care about the residents- from the administrators to the housekeepers.

When my mother first got to Pruitt Health in December they displayed kindness and understanding especially for this type of transition. As time went on true colors emerged. As of right now I am deeply dissatisfied with the level of care my mother is receiving at Pruitt Health Skilled Nursing Facility. While there are a few staff members who are very kind, compassionate, and professional, this is unfortunately not consistent across the board. Some of the staff seem disinterested and are not as attentive to my mother’s needs as one would expect in a care facility. I can only imagine how residents that don’t have family are being treated. The lack of consistency in care is concerning. I have witnessed instances where my mother was left waiting for extended periods for assistance, and there have been moments where the staff appeared overwhelmed or inattentive. As a family member, it’s incredibly frustrating to feel like the care and attention my mother deserves are not being provided regularly. I found her in one instance where her oxygen tank was not on, which is deadly for someone who is totally dependent on it and she just left the hospital due to her oxygen levels being low in which no one came to help her even though she was screaming out for help. Luckily her roommate was able to scream loud enough to get her help. There has been numerous times that I had concerns about things I’ve witnessed or observed but I extended so much grace because I know it is probably taxing to be in that field of work. I guess I was naive. While I understand that every facility can have its ups and downs, I am not pleased with the overall experience at Pruitt Health. The occasional positive interactions with staff do not outweigh the instances where care is lacking, and it’s disheartening to see that the standard of care can be so inconsistent. I hope the facility takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure that all residents receive the level of care they deserve.

My mother has been at this facility for a little over a month. I am happy with the care she is receiving. The facility is extremely clean and well cared for. The staff is professional and caring. The food is good for cafeteria food. It’s not perfect but having been to many nursing facilities with my elderly family members this one far exceeds my experience’s with end of life care.

We recently transitioned my sister into long-term care at Pruitt-Health Durham and want to give a special thanks the Admissions Director, who helped make the transition relatively seamless. Within hours of admissions, we had the opportunity to meet the entire care team. My sister has expressed that "the staff was so friendly" and she is happy to be there. I recently visited Carolina Point and I noticed great improvements. The staff is friendly, the patients looked happy and the facility was clean. The new director of nursing is very pleasant and seemed very much engaged. The nurses were helpful and did not hesitate to answer our questions. I felt comfortable leaving my family member in good hands.

The people are lovely. I have a problem in that I needed their assistance and they did not answer the phone for an entire evening when I had one of their patients with me. I don’t know what they could do but there needs to be a faster nurse called if it takes a half an hour to get a nurse the person is in trouble by the time the nurse gets there and they wouldn’t have called the nurse if they didn’t need them immediately.

Staffing levels are abysmal. There are some who work there who try very hard, but the ownership makes it impossible for them to work in an environment that is conducive to healing. Night staffing is abhorrent -- there may be one or two who genuinely care, but there are one or two who should be arrested. Rehabilitation staff is the only group that deserves recognition for their effort. And the food is absolutely the worst. Again, not necessarily because of the people who work there, but because of the ownership that sinks no money into infrastructure.

The rehabilitation center and staff is very nice and you are not denied access. They actually like family involvement. I only had two attendees that made me feel like they prefer me not be there, most of the nursing staff is very welcoming to having family involvement. Glad my husband is there compared to the other place he was.

I have been underwhelmed by this facility. There are chronic issues of high staff turn over and they are always short staffed, My loved one receives meals 3 times a day and all 3 meals are severed within a 6-7 hr period. The food is very repetitive (same items served over and over and over again) and sometimes described as unidentifiable. They only have 5 TV channels, of which sometimes they are fussy or not available. Add a pandemic on to all of this, and it is not a recipe for very happy residents. There are a few staff that are wonderful, and I am always very thankful and appreciative of them. unfortunately the good ones never seem to stay very long.
