All the doctors that I had and United Medical Center were highly professional and friendly and explain things in terms that are understandable to the general public as for being a patient at UMC it was very highly professional and I never had any problems with doctors nurses during my stays there.

I went in around 12:30am yesterday with really bad lower left quad abdominal pain, very severe nausea and shivering. They did really good checking me in and getting me taken care of. I had developed more symptoms once I got there since I was moving more than I was that evening. Including vomiting. Turns out I have the flu. The nurse did really good taking care of me and Dr. Chester moved very swiftly in prescribing me my flu anti biotics. My only reason. For the four star is because the rooms were dirty. What looked like dry blood on the floors (not great). Overall, I had a great ER experience.

The reason I gave it a 2 was because of the clerk who check me in. Waited 6 hours only to be told to go see my specialist. Stuck a needle in me gave me nothing and doctor wasn't even sure what he was doing. Is this what ward 8 dersive if so then close that hospital.

I cannot thank the ICU nurses enough, they brought my brother in law back to life! He was on a ventilator for 2 weeks fighting for his life and they were so diligent with his care. He is nothing short of a miracle. The hospital is extremely underfunded but the nurses are the glue that keeps this hospital running. They deserve so much. I hope the hospital and city knows that and focuses on improving its facilities.

I came in around 2 and was seen very quickly! I was taken through Triage and had the best nurse. My nurse was Caitlin Orwig!! When she first addressed me, she was very patient with me!! She was kind, respectful, gentle and actually listened to better help me. When I was in a lot of pain 12- out of 10! She was attentive and took her time but quick enough with my IV. Overall, Caitlin Orwig is the best nurse there! She's 5 's

Long wait. But, they helped me and everyone was professional.

The reviews didnt match my experience at this hospital. I was treated w respect, cared for and dare i say, talked to like a human. Jokes aside, they really did take care of me. Didn't belittle, devalue or take away from my visibly valid pain. Ty to the entire staff that night.

Is this a Hospital or a Prison? Can’t visit my sick grandmother till 1 p.m. then have to leave by 6 p.m. the staff have been ok I’m sure it’s not their fault, but whoever makes the rules for this Hospital probably has some type of complex,

I was on town for an event over the weekend and became ill on the way. I was taken here for care and I must say the nurses, providers and front desk staff were all very attentive. This was the best care I have ever received in an ER setting! Thank you for all you do!!

Great Service and Security amazing
December 2022
Staff is very respectful, however the front end, and nursing staff were very unorganized and had no idea what was going on. When I first came into the ER, the front end (the RN that does vitals & history), told me to provide them with an urine sample and sit it in the pink bin by the door. My guess is either someone from the back where the rooms are were going to come pick it up, or the front end RN was going to go and take it to them. Long-story short, after waiting for 3-4 hours and being seated In a room in the ER, one of the nurse asked if I did urine. UMC staff lost or misplaced my urine. Next time, the staff need to be more attending to their patients and not other co-workers or the phone. Hospital has potential to be what the patients in the area needs, but they have a lot to work on. Thanks !

I found that the surgical staff is excellent. They treated me with care and kindness. Also cheers to my doctor as well. I haven't had this treatment in a long time.
August 2022
I was pleasantly surprised at the professional service my elderly father received in the Emergency Department for abdominal pain. The facilities seems like it could use some TLC, but I don't understand the bad reviews. Yes, the ER will take a long time wherever you go. My father arrived at 1:30 in the afternoon and we left at 9:30 in the evening. But in that time he got lab work and a CT scan, so that amount of time was what I expected. It's a public hospital in the poor part of the city, so I wasn't surprised when a male patient was belligerent and threatening the staff, but they seemed to take it stride.

When I was told that the ambulance was taking me to this horrible hospital, I wanted to stay home. Nevertheless, I went and was glad that I did. The ER doctor literally saved my life. He caught something that no other doctor had thought to look for. He called for an ambulance and had me sent to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. They stabilized me and within 24hrs, I received life-saving surgery. I feel like my old self again.
