The Staff for the most part is really nice and friendly, a few rotten apples in the bunch. My main reason for writing this review is I've been visiting my Parent there almost everyday for months since they've been in there and today I saw the new Head of Administration , lil Short, round Caucasian guy, with a red face & lots of facial hair, I was already warned by my Parent and a few ppl around there how rude and cocky he is and today I witnessed it for myself, he looks at you like you have $hit on you, does not speak & doesn't treat patients equal. I figured if that place is getting all those patients income minus $38 they get to keep for themselves them and they visitors should be treated with some kind of curiosity & respect. My parent has all her senses and knows right from wrong and told me how he ignored her but continued to converse with another patient (white). This the first incident to honestly work my nerve since my parent has been in this place, I work in the medical field with elderly patients and their families all day everyday and the way that man acts is not it, just down right rude and disrespectful as if those patients are staying there for free, their income is paying his salary and I do plan on reporting him through the company as well.

I WAS A PATIENT AT (MHCC) FOR 2 1/2 AND WEEKS THE NURSING STAFF, CNA,HOUSE KEEPING, PHYSICAL THERAPIST, CLERKS, KITCHEN STAFF, SOCIAL WORKERS AND MAINTENANCE WORKERS WE'RE VERY FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL IF I FORGOT ANYONE APOLOGIZE I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND MHCC TO ANYONE THAT NEEDS LONG TERM CARE.

Six months ago, I was unofficially living with Dad in assisted living, using hospice to maintain him medically. He was in and out of the hospital multiple times until he wound up at Metairie Healthcare. Dad was accepted only because MH's admissions nurse was one of very few to read his full medical chart before accepting him. - When we arrived, both Dad and I were skeptical and afraid. MH is an older facility, it's not fancy, and it's a big change from assisted living. However, Dad has lived at MH seven months, and both Dad and I are VERY SATISFIED with his care! - I visit everyday, and the staff is legitimately glad to see me and work with me. They've been quick to see and respond to any medical issues, big or small. They have enough people working, and the same people work the same shifts, so Dad knows the staff well. They are caring, respectful and understanding. Even the dining staff have a clear understanding of Dad's mechanical soft/puree diet, and everybody in the building pushes hydration. The building is older but very clean. - As a result, Dad hasn't been hospitalized and he's put on weight. I am not afraid to leave him in their care and know that he is safer at Metairie Healthcare than in assisted living or at home with me. Dad feels like the staff loves him and truly they do. We've both come to enjoy and understand the community of patients and staff as, not perfect, but family.
