My family member fell atleast twice at the facility. The second time he had a large gash above his eye and face was black and blue and nothing was documented and no one was notified. The sprinkler system broke while here and it caused quite a disturbance. The Rehabilitation department was great!!

Hickory Ridge of Temperance, MI was certainly the best place for me to rehab for my Non-weight bearing broken ankle. I spent 16 days under their care. The PT and OT professionals were encouraging, compassionate and supportive with each session. The Nursing teams, RNs, LPNs, CNA, and NAs were phenomenal in my care, concern and well-being throughout my stay. They listened to my needs, assisted me in and out of bed, into the bathroom, bathing and showering. They even gave my family lots of grace when it came to visitors! The Support staff, Discharge planning, Social Worker, Dietary, Activities, Housekeeping, and more were all attentive to my needs during this rehab stay and I struck up great conversations with them. I have a new found appreciation for Hickory Ridge. P.S. My husband loved the Therapy dogs !

Hickory Ridge is always clean and the patients generally seem very happy and well taken care of. The Discharge Planner, Taniesha, cares about the patients and goes out of her way to make sure they are setup for a safe transition back home. As someone in home care, it is a delight to work with them and their patients.

Physical and occupational therapists are great- encouraging, positive, good equipment.High % of staff, janitors, maintenance, aides, nurses are also caring, encouraging, doing their job professionally. Stars taken off for lack of communication by business side, lack of transparency IMO. I was told more time needed for my discharge to be ready and unknowingly discharge date went past insurance allowance. I thought I was asking for discharge early. No follow up from them after someone said they’d get back with a week ago.

Hickory Ridge is a very nice and caring facility. My uncle Larry was A resident at this facility for over 10 years. I don’t have everyone’s name because there are so many that cared for my uncle on a daily basis all those years. Everyone from the receptionist who helps you check in or answer the phone when you call, the charge nurse Mike the aids who took care of my uncle, the laundry personnel, the kitchen staff and I know there are many more who took care of him. I wish I could remember all of their names . My uncle Larry went to be with the Lord November 17. This is a facility Hickory Ridge that I would most definitely choose to have my family member be a resident of if I needed that service again. I had the best experience at this facility. The staff take care of all their residents very well. I have also seen how they interact with their residents and provide fun activities everyday. The activity director, Nikki, is awesome at what she does for these residents. The patiences and creativity she has goes above and beyond. Everyone is amazing! You can tell the staff enjoys what they do. I want to give a special shoutout to Jennifer, the wound nurse, who has been absolutely amazing. She is so knowledgeable, patient, and gentle, and it shows how much she cares about her residents. Sidney, one of the nurse managers also has been wonderful. This place is wonderful. The staff is caring and attentive. My grandpa was there for a short time and I was very impressed. It was always very clean . The staff was always interacting with the residents. I saw them doing activities all the time and they always were laughing and having a great time. All the staff was wonderful but a few stood out . My grandma is a resident here and she’s so well taken care of. She’s always clean, and put together and able to do what she likes whether that’s activities or just strolling in her wheelchair. She’s treated with respect and kindness from the staff. Anytime we have had an issue it has been addressed and handled immediately. The facility as a whole seems to really care. The building is clean and her room is spacious for her to be comfortable.

My sister spent 92 days here she received excellent care from the staff. Her physical therapy was impressive and communicated with me of her progress and listened, really listened to my concerns. She had a complicated health issue combined with a broken leg and repeat infections. She went from non weight bearing to weight bearing several times. Everyone did all they could to accomodate her needs physically, emotionally and socially. After staying at hickory ridge other facilities just could not compete with the level of care. Their staff will forever be in our hearts! Thank you Hickory Ridge for your awesome care team!

I was surprised at how much I have enjoyed my time here for rehab. I made a lot of friends here. The food was good, the staff was nice and caring. I've visited other nursing homes and I can honestly say that this place is more like a holiday inn, it almost felt like a vacation. I have nothing to complain about!

I want to say thank you for your patience and encouragement to help me progress in my overall function. In the very beginning I was down and out, and everything seemed negative to me. Mentally the speech therapist helped me make it through every day. Occupational therapy, Jeannette was helpful because if you don't do it right the first time, you're going to do it over and over again till you get it right. She helped me with movement and balance. Physical therapy, what really helped me while I was here. Josh, when he takes me for a walk he would say, "you got to breathe while you're walking." That helped me to relax while walking. I've finally made it to the end to go home. Thank you therapy team! My real final thoughts, I feel that everything that I've learned with people that work here especially in therapy, is going to help me be a better person at home. On a scale from 1-10 for the facility is a 10 if you have a private room. On a scale from 1-10 for food 8 or 9. Physical therapy: off the wall is better than a 10 more like 15. Speech therapy: keep my brain working. Occupational therapy: Jeannette always came to get me. Everybody in this facility are good people, everyone treats you well. I think if once I can walk better and drive, I want to come back to visits and bring a treat.

My mentally challenged sister had a knee replacement and rehabbed at Hickory Ridge. We had a wonderful experience with the nursing staff , aids, housekeeping, , PT/OT and all other staff that she had contact with. It is a great place , and they treated my sister with loving kindness. I also had a chance to observe how the staff interacted with each other and it was with respect. You can tell that they loved their job. That makes a difference. We rehabbed at another facility and they employed agency nurses who didn’t have the pride that a facility has with their own staff. When it’s time for the other knee, this will be our first choice

Today I went to do an assessment on one of their patients who is in rehab there. What a nice place!! This is my first time there and I was very impressed. The facility is very clean and it has a calm vibe to it. From the discharged planner, Taneisha to the CNA Rita that cares for the patient and her floor nurse, and her therapist, all were very welcoming and personable. I would highly recommend this facility based on my first impressions which say a lot about the people that work there and make a difference. wish you guys were closer to Downriver! Flora.

My 92 yr old busia went in because of a stroke. She lives alone and needed therapy and help with everyday needs. When we heard she was going here from the hospital we surprised checked it out. We were shown around by a wonderful woman named Rachel and she had positive energy and stated she loved working there. After being there for a couple days it shows. The nurses are wonderful. They truly care and even schedule entertainment for the residents. Her physical therapy was extraordinary and she was able to walk and go to the bathroom by herself. Rachel and the other nurses took her as their own family and involved her with ice cream and shows. I highly recommend.

My father was admitted to Hickory Ridge after his hospitalization. We did not know much at first however, once we were here, it was evident that the staff was extremely caring and helpful. They went over and above to help out with whatever our needs or desires were. We felt like we were at home. Here is something that we did not feel at the last nursing facility. If anyone in my family or any of my friends ever need to have need of a skilled nursing rehabilitation center, I would highly recommend Hickory Ridge to any of them. I cannot say enough good about them.

I only have good praises for the staff at Hickory Ridge. My mother was a patient there for 9 weeks. She had a glioblastoma brain tumor. She was given 6 -12 weeks of remaining life. The nurses and aides took excellent care of her right up to the end. And when we knew the end was near they brought the family food and coffee and made sure my mother was comfortable until the end. We say Thank you to the entire staff.

Omg my husband was sent from Toledo hospital. He has a tube for liquid. And they don't even read your chart. No liquids by mouth and food has to be chopped up. And he sat in a chair for a hour and a half. No nurse or anyone came to see him. He called me I went in and got things rolling. They gave him sour kraut and perogies and a eclair. I took it away went to the kitchen asked for cottage cheese and yogurt. That's what he had for dinner last night. To the nurses there. READ CLIENT CHARTS.

My uncle is a resident at Hickory Ridge. He suffers from dementia, so he does not even know how to hit the call button if he needed anything. That being said, every time we go to see him, he is clean, shaved, and seems to be very happy!! I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful staff here. First of all, I don't know where we'd be without Ivy, in the admissions office. She has worked tirelessly to help us with all the paperwork needed by the insurance company to get his admission covered. Nikki, the activities director, has gotten him to engage in some of the crafts and activities, and even has sent us pictures of him while having fun! She even went out and got a Bluetooth speaker for the home, because he loves music so much, and they let him put on his country/bluegrass music, and he just sings to the top of his lungs!! Next thing you know, other residents are singing right along with him!! One day while visiting, I witnessed one of the aides, Rachel, talking to another resident who was distressed and upset, and Rachel helped to calm her down in such a sweet and loving way, that it just brought me to tears. The staff here work very hard to keep up with everything there is to do on a daily basis. Being a caregiver myself, I know this job isn't easy, and on top of that, these jobs typically don't pay all THAT well, so it's definitely not because of the money that people work here. I believe it's because they are true angels of mercy, and they have it in their hearts to help make a difference in people's lives, and my uncle is on the receiving end of that. His quality of life is the most important thing to us and I think it's as good as it can possibly be, considering the circumstances. I thank God every day that he is here, among such loving people.

We are very pleased with Hickory Ridge of Temperance and their wonderful staff. My mother is 92 and she is doing very well. She says she feels like she lives at a nice hotel. If she needs something, there is someone to help. We were referred to Hickory Ridge and very thankful. My mother’s quality of life has improved way beyond our hopes and expectations. Nikki is head of activities and keeps the residents always looking forward to something fun. She is very creative! I have seen so many wonderful changes in my mother. She is happy, has friends and very appreciative of where she is today. Her life today has vastly improved. She would never want to go back to living alone in her home, lots of worries. The social workers keep me very updated and truly care about the residents well being. I can’t say enough. I can tell you that we sleep better at night, knowing my mother is in good hands. It has been over 2 years that my mother has lived at Hickory Ridge. Her health has improved, which is beyond words. Thank you Hickory Ridge for all that you do!! You are appreciated.

My grandma was really happy with her care here for rehab-to-home. She just went on and on about how Josh really focused in on the underlying issue, and I came up (from out of state) and noticed how much her walking has changed and improved! So, thank you, Josh! ***EDIT TO ADD: My grandmother told me add her name and to say more things, so, from Jan Leonard (as promised): They had home-cooked food, the scenery, especially from the "workout room" was beautiful, and calming (until "killer Josh" came in for you). It was VERY clean, and the staff were so nice. If you're looking for a place to stay for rehab, look no further.

I spent 3 weeks there back in 2019 and have only good things to say. At age 49 I obviously wasn't your typical nursing home patient and didn't need the same level of care as many of the elderly residents but I was still pretty weak due to cancer and some bad reactions to my cancer treatments. I therefore did still need help with some things as well as physical rehab to help regain my strength. The staff there did a great job meeting all of my needs. My medication was always given on time, the bag for my feeding tube was always replaced when needed, I never had to wait long or call multiple times for a nurse, and they did a great job with my physical rehab. I just didn't see or experience any of the horror stories that you hear about at many other nursing homes. Residents weren't just left sitting out in the halls unattended for hours on end and the place didn't smell because residents weren't just left sitting in soiled clothing for hours on end either. The staff there really does a great job caring for their residents and if I ever have to go back in a nursing home it will be Hickory Ridge.

My mother has been there for several months on private pay - over $10,000.00 a month!!!!! They feed her salty food when she is on a salt restricted diet. Also mashed potatoes and gravy with a chicken salad sandwhich???? I don't expect them to feed her surf and turf but for that amount of money it should be better. Otherwise the care is pretty decent but they keep stopping her therapy so she is not getting stronger to come home, I feel like they want to get every penny she has.

Not sure if my stay there was typical, as it wss during covid. The place was clean and well maintained. The food was HORRIBLE. Never ever hot.One pizza night was a pizza crust with left over spaghetti sauce from two nights earlier as the sauce/topping. Vanessa who is an aid there is absolutely outstanding. As wasNicole, Bree and Evan. Nurse Christine on evenings was absolutely horrible, Rude condescending, and rough. She insisted on having the aids check briefs/ underwear to make sure you were "Dry" during the night. Degrading and disrespectful. Physical and occupational therapists were ok but do not work with you on a consistent basis so progress is slow. Social worker? Inconsistent and unhelpful. Overall it is a safe place but patients are victims of the Russian roulette of staff assignments. Would not return.

My family member was a long-term resident of 7 years. Throughout her time at Hickory Ridge she received good care and was treated with respect. I appreciated all of the care that the facility staff provided on a daily basis and when they would update frequently on any condition changes.
