This place has declined rapidly since Oakdale Senior Living bought it from UPMC. The furniture, in what was once a lovely lobby, was taken away and a few ugly shabby pieces remain. Carpet is old and dirty as are window treatments. The carpet in the dining room is always dirt and the filth on the chairs is disgusting. Food service has been contracted out and the company that took it over is terrible. The food is either over or under done, frequently served cold, and they run out of the food listed on the menu. They took away a very good cable TV package and now offer the Dish which does not offer high definition TV and does not function reliably. We are very disappointed and wish we could move our loved one somewhere else.

Good food, a little drab, very nice and helpful desk, kitchen, dining, office staff. Could pay more individual attention to residents to get more involvement in the numerous activities with poor turnout. Encourage more mixing

My father moved into SHV over two years ago directly from his home of nearly 50 years. Thank God he did! The staff here are phenomenal—they create a very safe, caring, connected community that I think is quite special. The quality of life for residents is really all about the people. Like most places these days, they have some staffing challenges in the kitchen and with the waitstaff at meals. Overall, though, it's a great place.
