I went to Oakwood Towers to apply for senior housing. I met with the manager, Charlene who is pleasant, professional with a permanent smile. The lobby was clean and there was a comfortable place to sit while waiting. The residence greeted with a smile that left a good impression. I was disappointed with the facts findings that I would have to take the app and return it by mail. This building like so many others have unusual long waiting list. Unusual meaning that should any property have a waiting list past 3 years? If this agency is short of staff at some point hiring professionals to come in and sort through, reviewing and recertifying tenants might be feasible. There is a park (Orange Park) across the street which has different activities and festivals. A bus stop nearby. Several blocks away is a shopping area. Extra supermarket, Burger King, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Dunkin donuts, and there is even a lounge (club) across the street just to name a few.

I have to say this place have improved a lot since my mother moved in. It is usually quiet and maintains cleaningness. I do however miss the Christmas tree and some lights during the holiday season. Hopefully they will bring that back. Also bring more activities in the community room.

I don't know much about this place, but it seems nice.

I have to say this is one of the few nice senior citizens housing I've come across. However, this place is in need of some serious improvement. There are neighbors who are totally inconsiderate of others and will allow their heavy steel doors to slam shut very early in the morning and even nights when others are sleeping. The hallways could use a serious paint job and it would be helpful if they could maintain regular security guards and not change them so much. They have also had serious roach problems periodically. Otherwise no real complaints but this place could indeed improve.
