I've only lived here for a little over 2 months so my review will be limited to how things have been so far. The manager, Brittany is really nice and supportive. She takes the time to listen to my concerns and needs. The maintenance man, Jeffrey is very helpful and goes the extra mile with any issues I have had. We have a very good tenant/maintenance working relationship. When I discover that I have extra tools that I don't need, I offer them to him for use here or his own personal use. Now, the emergency maintenance man who calls back after calling the after hours number is not very friendly. There have been issues with keys not working for the security door. I've had to call 3 times as my original key would get stuck in the lock and wouldn't open the door. I had groceries that needed to be refrigerated and/or frozen. He told me to go to the back door to get in. Well, the back door is an exit only door for one. For two, if it was an entry door, I couldn't get in anyway as my key was stuck in the front door door lock. For three, I am physically disabled and walking to the back door would be very difficult if not impossible, especially trying to bring groceries with me. When I expressed that my food would rot if I couldn't get in, he responded with "I guess your food is going to rot then." The last time it happened an actual locksmith came out and discovered that many peoples keys were different. He made a bunch of new keys. He stopped everyone coming and going to check their keys. If they were bad keys, he gave them new keys. The manager was given extra keys for people whose keys weren't working. It would be helpful if everyone could get a fob, but there are no more fobs available. Only a few people who got them before have them. From what I've been told, there won't be any more fobs ordered. The only way to get one is if someone who already has one moves out and turns it back in. There is a long list to get one. For those of us who are physically disabled and rely on using a walker or scooter, it is difficult using your key and trying to get inside while trying to hold the door open and get inside at the same time. Getting more fobs shouldn't be that difficult. The fobs automatically open the door and keeps it open long enough to get inside. The entry system is outdated and no new names can be added. If you have someone come to visit you or to make a delivery to you, they have to call you from their phone and you have to physically go downstairs to let the person in. When you are physically disabled, it can be very difficult to do that. I realize that neither the manager nor the maintenance man have any control over these issues. The actual management company needs to take care of these issues. Most of the residents have been friendly. There are a few who feel entitled as they have lived here longer. There are a few men who have drinking "parties" out front and become drunk and verbally angry with people who they don't care for. There are a limited number of handicapped parking spaces (but they are compliant with the required number of spaces) and one resident has stated that a specific parking spot is theirs. That's not how the law works. He intimidated one of my friends and made her move her vehicle even though she has a handicapped parking placard. One of his drinking buddies has harassed me when I told him what the law actually is. I ended up calling 911 as he wouldn't stop harassing me one night. I felt very unsafe with him following me into the elevator and hallway and harassing me. He continued harassing me while I was on the phone with 911. Luckily, he hasn't said a word to me since then. A very nice police officer called me and confirmed that I was correct in stating what the law is. Ive had a handicapped parking placard since 2012 and continue to look for any legal changes to ensure that I know the law and that I am compliant. There is one handicapped spot being used by a very nice man, but his vehicle is being used as a storage unit. From what I've been told, his vehicle hasn't been moved in several years.
