*Night shift is disgraceful * Need meds? Plan on waiting until the next day. * Need a doctor? Only get sick on the 2 days a week they see patients. * Filing complaints with the director of nursing does nothing Make sure you have a family or friend that can advocate for you at this place, especially the "skilled" nursing unit. The PT/OT was decent, that's about the only positive at this place.

One must make a distinction between independent living and nursing care. I can only speak about the independent living facility which is excellent. Meals are part of PB&J and are excellent, and very reasonably priced. I have rarely exceeded the monthly figure allotted for meals. I have lived here for over 10 years and have never had a problem or disappointment. Now at 87 I am looking forward to the rest of the time time I have left with my wife.

Bishop Spencer has become home for my mother. They treat her like family and she is well cared for and enjoys all of the staff and activities. She has been there going on 4 years in the full time care unit - York Place and is very happy. Once their modernization construction is done it will be even better. Cannot say enough about the PT/OT, Activities staff, Head Nursing director and administrator of the York Place division of Bishop Spencer.

Absolutely beautiful place! You can tell that the residents alike love being there. It's a breath of fresh air seeing our older adult population being loved and enjoying life, and treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve. It was an absolutely wonderful tour and made the day such a delight!

Not a resident there. But I have had the pleasure of seeing this place on the inside as a guest. Seems to have quite the amenities as a nice living place for seniors. I actually had the pleasure up working at the facility of the hospital as this place was being built. Have to say a very outstanding job they did.

At signing in at the front desk, I took a mask to wear as indicated, but it was not a second when the lady at the desk told me to put the mask on ! A minute later after signing in , this other lady flew from where she was any told me I had to hold the little dog I brought in with me and had to STAY IN THE ROOM ! WELL, I'M HISPANIC WITH BROWN SKIN. IT IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE BEEN TREAED THIS WAY! I UNDERSTAND THE PROTOCOL DUE TO THE VIRUS, BUT THERE ARE MORE SOFTENER WAYS TO TREAT PEOPLE , SPECIALLY WHEN, IN THIS CASE, IS PAYING FOR THE REHAB AND THEIR SALARY ! Hopefully not, but the next time , I will select another rehab site. I'm

Not good at all. My husband was in rehab 7-30 to 8-3 & was taken to Saint Luke's ER. Then he went back there from the Plaza Saint Luke's last Fri., 9-4 & had to go to Saint Luke's ER the next morning where he died. They do not watch their patients & family is not allowed there to help their lived ones. I have a very low opinion of Bishop Spencer Place.

My wife and I have lived at Bishop Spencer Place for a little over two years, in independent living, and it's fantastic. There is always far more to do around here than what we can participate in. And the staff is excellent. Glad we made this choice.

Mother in Law was there for rehab after a hospital stay. After 30 days, they kicked her out because she wasn't able to progress in rehab & their office staff determined she would live 3 more years, but outlive her savings by a couple of months. They want no Medicaid residents. She passed away within 60 days after being transfered to a nursing home who cared about their residents whether they are private pay or on medicaid. Five months after she transferred received a bill for almost $600 with absolutely no detail. Three times I requested in writing detail for the invoive but received none. The manager of the billing area will not return calls. Rehab care was fine except quality deteriorated every weekend. Would encourage you to think twice before you use this facility for your loved ones. Don't be mislead by the piano & flowers on the main floor! It's the care & quality business practices that count.

Too bad all the people.whonhave had wonderful experiences at Bishop Spencer don't write reviews. This place is tops. The staff are so friendly and cheerful, and residents are treated with the utmost respect. The accommodations are very nice and common areas are kept immaculate ly clean. Activities abound, and fabulous musicians from the Kansas City community and UMKC perform regularly in the gracious Madison living room.
