My parents are residents now at Village Woods. The staff has been amazing, and they generate such a sense of community that my parents are beginning to feel like it is home. I am an employee at Village Woods. Staff and nursing team are focused on client care. I see them going above and beyond to make life pleasant and comfortable for the residents. I have observed employees inquiring as to how they can help residents and/or family members and then take steps to resolve whatever the issues are. Food choices have improved, the number of staff (especially in nursing dept) is well suited to give proper care and attention to the residents. The teamwork, commitment and support from employees as well as compliments and positive feedback from multiple residents are the reasons I am leaving a 5 star review.

I have had many opportunities to experience the Village Woods community which includes staff and residents. My husband, a retired pastor, led the Vesper service on a number of occasions. It was such a precious time of worship and sharing. I have also had friends who have become residents in the villas and assisted living. Their families are thrilled with the care they receive and how expanded their lives have become with all the new friends and activities they experience at Village Woods. In recent years, I am a part of a local art gallery who provides a monthly free art project for any residents that are interested in participating. The staff are so incredibly supportive! The residents become so engaged in their projects; and, best of all, we have made great friends! The building looks immaculate, the dining room feels like you're eating in a resort, the staff are warm and relational. What an opportunity for senior adults to experience life to the fullest! I highly recommend.

My mother is originally from Lansing but currently lives with my sister in Michigan, but we were able to get her into Village Woods for a 3-4 week "Respite". It was very much like a vacation for her to get down and see many friends and family. It was truly a great experience for us and her. The staff, nurses and facility were great. Thanks for making this respite great for all of us.

The Village Woods staff really care about their residents, they are personable, responsive, caring. I have personally witnessed when someone needd assistance and the care team responded quickly. Additionally, the kitchen staff is wonderful. Thanks!!!

My father and mother moved into assisted living in late 2021, and my mother has continued to reside at Village Woods since his passing a few months later. This has proven a very caring community for my mother; we are grateful for the friendliness of the staff and their professionalism.

As Mom was having more difficulty living on her own, she knew it was time for a change. Friends and family have lived in the Village Woods community over the years. We contacted them to see if there was a fit. Jennifer visited Mom to discuss the possibility and determine her needs. Soon, a follow-up tour was arranged. Once Mom met with the people and saw what was available, she was ready to move to Village Woods assisted living. That was two months ago. Since that time, the staff, nurses, aides have been wonderful. They have been able to help Mom in so many ways beyond what we could do. We're grateful for everyone at Village Woods! Mom is settling in to her new home, getting to know her new neighbors. She is thankful for everyone. Village Woods has been a blessing for our whole family. Thank you!

My Mom moved into Village Woods a week ago. The staff has been very accommodating helping us navigate settling a 100 year old into a new community. Everyone from our Marketing Rep to Nurses and Aides, to Front Desk, Financial Office, and Food service have shown great care and friendliness. My Mom is happy and our family want her to be happy, safe, and receive the care she needs as all her children live a day's drive or more away. We are excited to have Mom join this community. They practice their faith and have shown great care. God is good.

Short story... we love this place . Long story... I have had family living at Village Woods for 6 years now. My parents started out in the surrounding townhomes. It was a great transitional step for them. They had the independence of a house but didn't have to worry about maintenance and could go up to the main building for entertainment and meals if they wanted. When a little more help was needed for them they moved into the main building on an independent living floor. All of their meals were then taken care of, and some light housekeeping was done for them. They really began to take part in all of the wonderful activities that Village Woods has available. My sister and I were given peace of mind knowing that there were people right there in the building if they needed any help, and they helped keep them active and well fed. As health issues arose, they were able to add on services that would help. My mom (who has mobility issues) is able to get help going down to meals and activities. When my dad's Alzheimer's progressed, they added on services to help with bathing and getting dressed. The last few months my dad was at Village Woods, I would visit weekly and spend the day with my parents. I got to see firsthand how wonderful and caring the staff were. The front desk was always welcoming. The dining staff knew exactly what my parents wanted to drink and would laugh and joke with them. The life enrichment team provided fun activities like bingo, movies, current events, coloring, and live entertainment. The chaplain led Bible study with them. They went to the fitness room and were helped by trained staff member to get physical activity that was at their level. The nurses and aides were awesome at their jobs. The maintenance and custodial teams kept things in working order and looking beautiful. The people in the office all clearly knew my parents and showed care for them. The other residents were friendly. Village Woods had become a part of our family. Eventually my dad's Alzheimer's got to the point where unfortunately he could not stay, since he needed to be in a memory care unit. I know the staff was really sad to see them have to move out. They had gotten to know them so well. The place we moved my parents to turned out to be awful. It was hard to tell from the initial tours, but in less than a week my dad was hospitalized, and in less than two weeks of being there we moved my mom out of there and right back to Village Woods. She was losing her husband to a terrible disease and wasn't able to be with him anymore. The thought of having her in a new place all alone where she knew no one and was unhappy was awful. Village Woods was familiar and felt like home. So that is where she has been since. While my dad was on hospice and shortly after he died, I was at Village Woods a lot to pick up my mom to take her to visit my dad, and then to plan the funeral with her. It was a comfort to me to know that everyone there knew the pain we were facing, and staff and residents were so unbelievably kind and compassionate to us during a really difficult time. I am so thankful that my mom is there now. I know there are quite a few widows there and that she is not alone in what she is facing. I know that people are taking care of her. During a pandemic when I couldn't visit, I could trust she was in good hands and got frequent updates on how they were handling Covid. There is also assisted living there, so I know that if my mom ends up needing more care in the future, this is available. I wouldn't mind living there one day myself .

My dad has been at Village Woods for over a year now and he has adjusted very well! He has no complaints and neither do I. He has a beautiful view of the pool and grounds from his room and enjoys looking out his window at God's beautiful creation throughout each season. The staff is very kind and accommodating, knows his name and tries to include him in activities. He enjoys the food in the restaurant and is quite impressed that the waitresses have his table ready for him and knows what he likes. My family and I are delighted with Village Woods and the exemplary care and attention they have given Dad. God is good!

For five months now Village Woods has been ' lock downed'. It all started with a day's notice that there would be restrictions and changes to the events that are usual.Residents had to figure out just what was going to happen day to day . While staff scrambled to replan the best ways of keeping everyone happy and most of all well. One thing staff and residences would agree we do not want to see the "virus" at this location.So how have things been? Meals are in each room. True no menu choice which means a bit easier on kitchen and dining crew. After all there are a hundred some to feed on seven floors. The waitresses and waiters deliver with a greeting for a good day . (can't see if it is with a smile because of the mask) CNA and nurses have had extra too. Making sure there are mask, delivering items dropped off by families, keeping people at a distance when walking the halls, testing for the virus, plus the usual.Housekeeping and maintenance needed to put an extra on sanitation. Life enrichment does the shopping for the residents in place of taking them to the stores. Entertainment moved from the banquet hall to the floor halls, apartments, and the tv. Extra movies, bingo numbers on the tv, games in the hall or a vacant room, and crafts to do whenever you want and snacks in the afternoon. And pictures are taken and put on Facebook for families and friends to see what goes on during lock down.And Pastor Mark has also gone from hymn sings , bible studies and vesper services to hallway sings and devotionals on the in-house tv channel.And we are getting back to some things that were restricted by having the beauty shop and fitness center opened again and the foot doctor returned to meet the needs.Anyone looking for a senior residence should check us out. It is not bad being in lockdown and it is even better when 'normal'.

Village Woods is set on a beautiful property overlooking Balmoral Woods Golf Course. Eating meals in the main dining room is an extra treat as you feel like you are staying at a resort. Mom is on an assisted living floor and she enjoys her private room. The aides and nurse come in quickly when mom rings for one, and being a fall risk, that is very comforting to know that she has that support. She loves the special entertainment and treats that happen often. She also loves the Catholic Mass once a month (pre COVID19) and looks forward to getting back to that as well as the "beauty shop" once allowed again. She also loves "working out on the gym" with Bailey. We have noticed improvement in her stability when standing, and that can primarily be attributed to her fitness program. With COVID restrictions, it is a bit isolating for Mom and her fellow residents but we understand that it remains COVID FREE and we attribute that to the professionalism of the leadership and staff. I would recommend anyone interested in an independent living or assisted living facility to consider Village Woods.

My dad and stepmother are new residents at Village Woods. It' a tough time moving them somewhere during COVID 19, but I know they are well cared for. Every person on staff I had the pleasure of meeting when they made the move was kind, caring, patient, and eager to answer all of our questions. It is a blessing to know that all of their needs are being met, they are safe, and there are great people interacting with them every day. Thanks to all!

My mother has been a resident at Village Woods since 2018. She began in independent living and is currently in assisted living. We were very impressed with the facilities when looking to place Mom after my father's passing. The staff has been very accommodating and their care for her has been exemplary. Village Woods has been able to maintain zero COVID19 residents since the pandemic began. This is a remarkable achievement considering the horror stories at other long term care facilities. The monthly fees are very reasonable for the care that Mom receives. I highly recommend considering Village Woods when in search of a reasonably priced, Christian based long term facility.

What a great place! The staff is amazing, and you can tell they really care about the residents. There are so many activities no matter what you like to do. The sense of community is amazing--it's like a family! The grounds are absolutely beautiful. I can't recommend this more highly!
