I just left a two and a half rehab stay at Kempton, what a great experience, I have 3 breaks in my tibia and the staff made it effortless, they have staffing around the clock to ensure your safety and wellbeing. As a community partner of Kempton’s, I can confidently say that this Is a wonderful option for someone who is needing rehab, memory care, or skilled nursing. From the Executive Director, to the Sales team, the Nurses and Home health aids - anyone that lives in this community is very lucky. The attention to detail and the care they provide their residents, is truly second to none.

I cannot say enough good things about Renee Chavis at Kempton. From start to finish, she went above and beyond to make sure my mother’s needs were met with care, clarity, and compassion. Renee was consistently communicative, thorough, and incredibly encouraging during a very stressful time for our family. She made herself available at regular intervals, kept us informed every step of the way, and always followed up exactly when she said she would. There was never a moment where we felt in the dark or unsure about next steps. What stood out most was her genuine investment. She didn’t treat this as just another case to manage. She approached our situation with empathy, professionalism, and a steady reassurance that meant more than I can put into words. When you’re navigating complex healthcare decisions for someone you love, having a person like Renee in your corner makes all the difference. My husband has lived at Kempton for the past 10 months. During this time he has had many caregivers helping and supporting him. As in any facility, the care someone is given is only as good as the caregiver. That being said, there are many caring, qualified, compassionate employees working at Kempton. I’d like to commend Bailey for her knowledge of the needs of the my husband and her follow through as well as quick responses, which are so helpful when I have concerns. I’d also like to commend Peyton for her help and suggestions when questions arise. She is always quick with a smile and tries to include as many residents as possible in her activities on the memory care floor.

I live in PA and I was in a very tough spot with finding good care for my mother who was in the hospital . She needed a rehab facility. I read a ton of reviews of assisted living in Charleston. I really wanted the Kempton from reviews plus word of mouth. There was not a bed available on Friday. I flew into Charleston on Saturday and called the Kempton again and spoke to Renee Chavis. She was so very kind and understood how I was feeling even on a Saturday afternoon. She absolutely bent over backwards for me and my mother. There was a bed available Monday and she made it happen within a few hours. The transport van driver, Greg could not have been kinder. When we arrived today the transition was so very smooth. The staff could not have been kinder. The place is beautiful and welcoming. My mother was so grateful for everyone that worked so hard on her behalf. I believe this will give her encouragement to rehab and make it back home. Thank you Kempton Staff for all you do!!

I have really enjoyed the time my mother has spent at Kempton. I especially appreciated the above and beyond help from Lisa McLeod, the sales director. She went out of her way to help me transition my mother out of state. Everything went smoothly because of her and her hard work. I also want to thank Nurse Tenazia for her hard work. She really helped me out in a complicated bind. She was thoughtful and considerate. The part of Kempton my mother loved the most was getting her hair done every week by Patrice. Patrice was gentle and kind with my mother. Special shoutout to all the nurses on the third floor and all the staff behind the sciences like housekeeping and kitchen.

During a difficult time for our family, Renee in admissions was very helpful in getting my father a nice room in a timely manner. His transition went smoothly. The staff and caregivers are friendly, helpful, and attentive to my father’s needs.

Kempton of Charleston is a beautiful facility. My was admitted for physical therapy. The admissions coordinator, Renee Chavis guided us every step of the way. The facility is amazing. The staff is great as well. Thanks Kempton for everything!!

My mother was in rehab on the 5th floor. She was there to get her walking on walker again. The first thing you need to know is that the nurses sit behind the desk and play on their phones. Totally lazy because my mom probably only got a bath once a week.. My mother has Alzheimer’s and it is very important to keep a schedule. That never happened. If she wanted to stay in bed, they let her. How do you get Rehab in the bed? if she wanted to eat fine if she didn’t fine. She was supposed to be on a finger food diet, which they never could get correct. She is blind, so she can’t eat regular meals as easily as she can finger foods. So some days food was minimal. I made sure she did get some food. When they released her and brought her home, she had not had a bath, and her under clothes were soiled. If you care anything about your family member, please don’t go there. I could say more, but that gives you an idea of how poorly your family member is treated.

We brought our loved one to Kempton after a horrible traumatic experience at another Charleston area facility. Our loved one was so well cared for at Kempton! The nurses and CNAs are such good people who genuinely care and treat your loved one like family. Everyone at Kempton from the management to the kitchen staff is invested in making sure your loved one gets whatever they need. I tell everyone if they have a loved one that needs assisted living, short-term rehab, memory care, or long-term care, go to Kempton!

Being in Kempton was four days of misery. I would never recommend this place. When I got there, my relative and I had to get all my luggage up stairs by ourselves. No help at all. Then I finally searched for and found the room I was told to occupy. As soon as I got inside the room, there was a barrage of employees coming in to ask me questions. Each person asked the same questions. It was rediculous, redundant, and exhausting, after a stressful extended hospital stay. I needed a hot shower, but I was told they couldn’t bring me towels. After much ado, I was finally given one scrawny towel. I had been diagnosed with a serious non-contagious disease, but Kempton didn’t care! I wouldn’t want my dog kept there. I finally begged to get out of there and return to the hospital. It’s terrible! I have nothing good to say about the food, and I was never told of any activities.

When we needed a new facility for my husband's parents, we used Cindy Williams of Simply Seniors Services of Charleston to assist us in the right placement and she recommended we tour Kempton of Charleston. Kempton of Charleston has been the best fit for my in-laws and our family. We rest easy knowing they are receiving excellent care. Because this is not a large facility, Kempton feels more like a family and we have been able to build strong relationships with nurses and other staff key members. We love seeing the events and pictures of staff and residents on social media. The facility is really beautiful and we love to reserve the private dining room so my mother-in-law feels like she is able to be a host. The location is great and it is bright and cheery. The staff always positive and are very welcoming. We appreciate the leadership of the wonderful Executive Director Lindsey French and the fantastic support from Lisa McLeod through this process. I highly recommend Kempton of Charleston.

By far the most wonderful place you could imagine to assist in the care of your loved ones. You can tell the moment you walk in the door of Kempton of Charleston that it is someplace special. The staff is top notch as evidenced by the smile on the face of every person working there. It isn't just a job to these people, it is part of their life. Kempton exemplifies the level of care that should be given to our loved ones. Each is treated with dignity, respect and love. We moved my mother to memory care after a less than positive experience elsewhere. To say that Kempton made up for all of the shortcomings we had known in another facility and then some in an understatement. The facility itself is immaculate and well maintained. Even the smallest maintenance requests are handled promptly and correctly the first time. Without exception the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Questions are answered quickly and completely. There is no passing the buck or lack of accountability - only total professionalism. Each day my mother was dressed and put together beautifully - something that was incredibly important to her. The staff went out of their way to assist us when we wanted to video chat and connect with her. If she wasn't hungry, they went and made her favorite sandwich to encourage her to eat. Without exception everyone she came in contact with took the time to get to know her, to stop and share a connection with her, and to ensure that she was comfortable and happy. Activities were always available and they worked to keep her engaged in something. There was always staff present with her or close by - there was no using TV as a babysitter. They even helped us plan a large family get together for my mothers birthday. The staff really gets to know the residents and pays attention. A small change in mood signaled the start of a problem that was caught and treated early. This is the kind of attentiveness that made such a huge difference in my mothers quality of life. When my mother required skilled nursing it was no surprise that the care was just as exceptional as memory care. At the end of her life, it was Kempton staff that helped us with difficult decisions and getting us the right resources so we could honor all of my mothers wishes. There wasn't a moment that we didn't feel just as nurtured as my mother including countless visits from staff from every department. There is a level of compassion at Kempton that is an example of what every senior living and memory care facility should aspire to. If this is a choice you are looking at for your loved one then look no further.

My mother was in skilled nursing at The Kempton for 6 weeks. They are wound magicians! I could not have been more pleased with her care. This is a group of knowledgeable, skilled, kind and attentive caregivers. Clean. Beautiful. Bright light. However, the people are what makes a truly special place. My mother is a resident in Kempton's Memory Care and it is a lovely environment. Clean, beautifully appointed common areas, and a dining area that is on par with the rest of the building. After touring several facilities on the SC coast, so many places "institutionalize" memory care in an isolated manner that seems inferior to the overall design of the assisted living portions of the facility: small, cramped, dark, vinyl, drab, etc. Not here! Kempton has done a wonderful job of making their Memory Care unit feel just as fabulous as the rest of their beautiful facility. The staff are great with Mom - patient, kind, helpful, specially trained for dementia care, and bring a smile to her face whenever she sees one of her new "friends" sitting at the nurses station. Kempton administration and staff are extremely helpful in the transition process and were invaluable in an always difficult and emotional process. I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come.

To say I’m thrilled to have my parents at Kempton would be an understatement. They were the first two residents on the Assisted Living floor and have been treated like royalty. They have a lovely, sunny two-bedroom apartment with windows overlooking a beautiful flower-filled terrace. So far, they’re enjoying the meals and we’re looking forward to joining them for dinner soon. The caregivers couldn’t be nicer and have helped my 90+ year old parents adapt to a new life with all the help they need at the touch of a button on their wrists. Kudos to everyone for a job well done and a well-thought-out senior living experience. Oh, and did I mention the dining room is drop-dead gorgeous!

My mother is the first resident in skilled nursing and is receiving excellent care at Kempton! The view from the room is amazing, the food is great and it's a lovely environment staffed with people who care. The beauty shop is convenient and reasonably priced, too.
