This facility is my husband's new "home," unfortunately. Neither the facility staff nor my husband will explain to me why he has to stay there all night, what is the "medical" reason, who is paying for it, or how it is benefitting him. I consider him brainwashed by now. I have called multiple times. When I attempt to talk with him on the phone, the phone goes dead. He now believes this is where he should be all night and other times. I have no clue what is going on beyond their hostility toward any inquiry. I love my husband and am a profoundly concerned wife. I have tried to talk to them multiple times and am interrupted and rudely dismissed every time.

my sister her interaction with both the tenants and managementthere for over 7 years and wnjoyed my sister lived there for over 7 years and made many friends with both tenants and management. When she recently passed, management was very helpful to me during this difficult time closing her affairs at their establishment .

I would have given this five stars were it not for a very unfortunate incident which marked the end of me volunteering to play my alto sax for the residents there, one of whom was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation just up the hill with which the facility is affiliated in which I was active for several years. I alternated playing between a smaller venue in the assisted living portion and independent living in a larger venue. On one occasion at the latter, partway through the concert, staff people started having a loud conversation in the back of the room, so loud I could understand what they were saying while I was playing. Residents' nasty looks cast their way were ignored. Finally I said something and they left. The Activity Director chewed me out afterward, saying I had no right to "give directions" to her extremely rude staff and I was not welcome to play there again. All anyone needs to know to objectively judge what actually occurred is that a few days later the Director of the facility, after talking to some of the attendees about the incident, called me, apologized and offered to take me to lunch as a gesture of his regret at how his staff acted. I've unfortunately found this type of behavior at a few places, solely from younger women of color who perhaps may assume an old white guy like me is a right wing bigot, which is far from the truth. It's unfortunate when someone, as the AD here did, puts defending mistakes made by their subordinates ahead of the welfare of the residents.

I'm not sure if I can quiet hold words to express how incredible and heartfelt Solstice Senior Living team is, and I will try my best to grasp the love a few members that have truly touched my experience (daughter of resident/ temporary care giver), and my father here this far. Since, the first time I spoke to Bianca (sales/marketing), she was full of energy, enthusiasm, compassionate, flexible and reliable. Still, during trying times of covid, she gave us full FaceTime calls to show my dad and I - the property, meet residents and the team. She made it seems so easy, but everyone here seems to put off this! Kristi, the executive director is the face to my experience! She is one of the most compassionate, enduring, hardworking, and informational people here. I can't express my dads situation here. He's had a stroke, coming down with dementia; there's a bundle of challenges and more that's affected my health since I've moved my dad here from LA. She's bent over backwards, assisting to find movers, taking him to group lunch, advising on future facility and medical information. I'm going through the hardest time in my life, and she has been nothing but loyal. She works night and day, I see here at times 11pm at night, who does this - her true dedication and servitude is remarkable!! Solstice is lucky as all to have this woman be the face of the company, especially through this covid with all the challenging people and incidences. No one can do this better; coming from a senior place in LA with my dad, it's night and day of a difference! Micheal (night assistance) has been so kind as well offering assistance with my dad truly genuine and heartfelt. Cathleen (life director) full of life and sincerity being present to assist with small things. I'd like to mention the stress and pressure I see these can be under. They are heroes - SERIOUSLY! I hope and pray, I can handle stress and be as grounded as them - the most non judgmental souls! They're truly aspirational here at solstice!! All of the residents are so friendly, happy/smiling, and actively make others feel welcome to the community. I have to speak my truth of one awful experience here, but I must elaborate this has NOTHING to do with solstice to affect the review - separate/ private agent/ caregiver - that publicized care on grounds - name of Maria. I am only mentioning this because I've witnessed it, and I'd never wish this upon anyone, especially seniors and people that don't have eyes here. I will try to stay with facts. There's challenges with communication language barrier, so keep everything in writing documentation - everything! We were asked for a text to confirm service, thankfully I wrote an email (because she's lied or pleaded ignorance) of over charging us from $60 to $120 per/day. There's two levels of care, we opted for $120 fir two weeks, which we changed to $60 after the first week (verbally), she was okay with. We got the Bill and we're charged $120. I brought it to her attention, and told her we only wanted care for 3 days from her and administer pills (2 separate services), and she said no dropped my dad that night as a client. I also was there every weekend assisting him saturdays and Sunday's, some Friday evenings where she did not give care as she promised checking in every hour. She couldn't provide documentation except for meals. This service is not companion care whatsoever ever, it's an assembly line of her assistances to drop meals, administer medication, and laundry clean services and take to doctors appointments, which I had to coordinate. These are two major lies and enough ti decline service, I would not trust other than to maybe (now I don't trust her), but for others to solely administer medication and find a as care companion through private or agency to save you this. To paint a picture, I'm 35 and moved my dad from LA in one week, started a new job, relocated, started grad school/dropped school, care took, found out my mom has cancer, my life has been the hardest, and solstice - excluding Maria has really made an impact in my life.
