My mother-in-law Sheila started out in Arbor Hills Independent living, then progressed to Arbor Oaks assisted living and Evergreen for memory care. Mary Gaudet and her staff made the transition easy and everyone seemed to know and love Sheila. The caring staff was always attentive to her needs and made her days happy and comfortable. As her dementia progressed, it was great to be able to keep her in familiar surroundings. Evergreen has a very small, family atmosphere which was important for someone with dementia. We checked out many facilities before we settled on Arbor Hills and Arbor Oaks and we were very happy with our decision. The care Sheila received was outstanding.

My mother has been in Arbor Oaks (Evergreen) for about a year and a half now. She is safe, comfortable, and happy. I am tremendously grateful for all the care she receives. I live overseas so it was crucial to find a place as good as this to care for my mother who has such severe dementia. Thank you for all you do Evergreen staff.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Arbor Oaks at Lakeland Hills, and I must say, it was a wonderful experience. I was greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. Mary Gaudet, in particular, stood out with his exceptional service and friendly demeanor. The staff was friendly and greeted everyone with a smile. Both the independent and Assisted Living buildings were beautiful. I highly recommend Arbor Oaks to anyone looking for a beautiful place to call home.

It's been a few years since my mother was there. She passed away in December of 2020. We had her in 2 other facilities prior to this and it was awful. Every time something would happen at the other places they would send her to ER (because they didn't have a nurse on staff). When we found Arbor Oaks we were so blessed. We thought she would be in memory care because the last center had her there, but after the assessment by the nurse( I can't think of her name) she had her own room. I can't tell you how much my mother changed for the better. The staff really cared about her. I believe my mom loved it there. She seemed to thrive. Anytime something was going on the nurse would call and ask me how they should handle it. Not just send her to the ER. When Covid hit we were able to visit by calling into a phone and sitting outside but seeing mom through the glass doors to the dining room. They were protective of the residents but stilll allowed us to visit in a safe way. During covid mom started getting worse and I'm sure it had to do with being restricted to her room. Because before that she was thriving there. She loved the activities and they would get her out of her room. When mom got sick before she died the nurse called with every change and with gown gloves and mask let us go in to sit with her. I'll never forget the morning mom passed how wonderful they were. We even got a card of sympathy. They were awesome. I highly recommend arbor oaks. Unfortunately there will always be some bad apple in the staff but they will take care of it. I'm a RN and so is my brother so we know about good care, and our mother was well cared for. Our only regret was that we didn't take her there first!! And that she endured 2 bad places. Thanks to everyone there. Mrs Futch

My siblings and I are extremely grateful for the care my parents received at Arbor Oaks. We were lost and didn't know how to help our parents in their elder years. Our Father suffered from Dementia and our Mother was very frail and tired of being his caregiver. We were guided to Arbor Oaks by Care Patrol. They had a nice room that was very clean. They received healthy meals 3 times a day as well as snacks. Their laundry was done every week. They were able to take part in so many activities like Bingo, Happy Hour etc. They had excellent medical care from the PA on staff, and meds were delivered right to the facility. Our Mother passed after 4 mos., and our Father needed memory care full time, he was moved to Evergreen. He just recently passed away. We have been very happy with the care they both received. Arbor Oaks has a wonderful and caring staff. Mary and Joy were always helpful to our family. Our parents enjoyed the Aids that cared for them and looked forward to seeing them daily. Arbor Oaks was a very good experience for our family.

My mother has lived in this facility for approximately one month. Several items disappeared from her room while residing in assisted living but because she has dementia, we we assumed she placed them somewhere herself. We moved her last week into the memory care unit (Evergreen) and her wedding ring, engagement ring and anniversary band have gone missing within four days of living there. No one seems to know where they are and a police report has been filed by us, not them. There appears to be no communication between shifts and families are not notified when things happen to their loved ones. Very disappointing. UPDATE: The missing rings were located by Lakeland PD and were found to be pawned by an Arbor Oaks employee at a nearby pawn shop. The executive director was notified and charges filed by us. Shame on the employee who took advantage of an elderly dementia resident! Disappointed that our mother wasn't better protected from dishonest employees by the facility! We have been in contact with the executive director (Mary). The facility has my contact information but have not heard back in regard to making this horrific event more tolerable.

My name is Toni, and I work at Arbor Oaks. I have been meaning to write this review. I don't normally write reviews, but, I had to for this company. I have worked at a few of Assisted & Skilled facilities, but, by far this facility is the best hands down, from staff to the residents family members. As soon as you walk into the facility you can feel the love, the energy is just peaceful. The feeling and staff just makes you wanna come to work, and when you're there, its team work, from the moment you get there, to the moment you leave. Its just a beautiful facility be affiliated with Thank You Mary Gaudet

Arbor Oaks at Lakeland Hills is one of the premier retirement/assisted living facilities in central Florida. The moment you walk into the beautiful lobby you are greeted by friendly staff and residents! It is obvious from the interaction of staff and residents and guests that they truly care about each person there. They offer a variety of amenities, activities and entertainment each month. We had a great time during "Happy Hour" last Friday as I entertained and the residents (and their guests) danced and sang along. I highly recommend you consider Arbor Oaks for your loved one or for your future retirement residence.

A couple of years ago I wrote a review about Arbor Hills. My wife's 86 year old uncle lived there all this time, and I still mean everything I said about the place. Since then his health has sadly detreated and in need of dedicated care. The owners and the staff made the transition to Arbor Oaks unbelievably easy. He has received the care he needed above all expectations. He has led the lifestyle of a king in this home. I can't say enough for the people who care for these residents. I do mean care, because they do. It's people like Mary, Becky, Orlando, and Paul just to name a few, who become friends and attached to the welfare of they're residents. My wife's 86 year old uncle didn't just live there. He enjoyed being there and made his last days happy ones. Truth be known, this wonderful place probably prolonged his life because of the care and the atmosphere, this staff has supplied. Our personal thanks to everyone there and thank God for this wonderful place.

Back in October of 2018 my father passed at age 86. My mother could no longer take care of herself without assistance. One of my best friends had a mother staying at Arbor Oaks and highly recommended them. The Executive Director (Mary) called and gave me her personal phone number and told me to call her any time I needed her. I went for a visit and knew that it was a safe, clean , friendly environment. The staff was extremely kind and cooperative. I immediately moved my mother in against her wishes. She has never been happier! She likens the place to a hotel. They have good food, physical therapy, a beauty parlor, church, card games, and lots of activities for everyone. I go for visits after 6 pm, and find the evening staff just as friendly and accommodating as the day staff. She could care less if I ever visit her. She has a new life with plenty of social interaction. They are like family. If you want affordable assisted living for your loved one, and want to feel that they are well cared for and loved, I highly recommend Arbor Oaks !

My father fell and broke his hip and after surgery was in a nursing home for rehabilitation. That left my mother with dementia alone out in the country with a hurricane coming. So I convinced her that it would be the safer to stay with her sister in Lakeland until Dad could come home and the storm was gone. My father wasn't able to do the rehabilitation and ultimately passed away in December of 2017. So I began searching for a place for mom and was referred to Arbor Oaks by some family friends. Other places were not as attentive, not as clean and the atmosphere felt like a nursing home. When I toured Arbor Oaks it felt more like a home. I've been pleased with the staff learning how to work with mom instead of just warehousing her. They stop in and check to see if everything is ok a few times a day. But when things get bad they handle it. Three weeks ago, my mother was eating dinner in the restaurant style dinning room, when one of the staff noticed she was slumped over her food and alerted the nurse who determined she was probably having a cardiac event and called for an ambulance. I was notified shortly afterwards and met her at the hospital. Because of the quick response she was back in her apartment in 2 days and fine. I feel we made a good choice for my mother to still have some independence and some assistance when needed.

I have a friend who was in the memory care unit for over 6 months. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the level of care that was given to her. I would stop in at various times and many times I found that she was dressed in someone else's clothes (even men's) that were stained and didn't fit, even though she had clothes clearly marked with her name in her room. The bedrooms are locked during the day. Occasionally, we would need to go into her room to put something away and noticed clothes strewn all over the floor, including used depends a few times. There was a strong urine smell there at times also. Granted, there were a few very dedicated and kind workers there, but overall they didn't seem friendly. My friend lost her glasses, as well as her wedding ring while staying at Arbor Oaks. Yes, it is difficult to account for everything someone with dementia brings in, but this was very tragic for her. Even though the building itself is beautiful, it is only as good as the level of care given to the residents. Family members should always be vigilant to ensure the best care for their loved ones. I would hesitate to have a family member stay in the memory care unit here.

The facility is a true gem!!! I have worked in the health care field for 24 years and it is by far the most beautiful...from the residents, owners, staff and the buildings themselves. I would live there myself and I would trust the entire staff with my family. The staff and the owners truly care and treat everyone like family... So if you are looking for a home for yourself or loved one come and join our family at Arbor Oaks and Hills in lakeland.

The only good thing about this place is the residents. The administration sucks they don't tell you the about what's going on so you can protect yourself. I overheard the administrator Rachel tell one of the resident that was inquiring about the bedbugs the in the facility that she was going to bring in a dog to sniff them out. No raises everyone talks about the other person. They let there staff come to work with their night cap on. Some of the cooks and aides never use gloves while handling food. There employee turnover rate is high. Because they don't know how to talk to people.

My mother's dementia caused me to search for a facility with good dementia care. My parents had lived at another nearby independent care facility- but my mother continued to decline and become physcially ill often. So, on November 16, 2015 I moved my parents, father who has Alzheimer's and mother to Arbor Oaks. It was the best thing I could have done for them! The staff is very friendly and caring and my Mom has not had any physcial issues since we moved her there. Their nursing staff does a great job with medications and the other staff comes to check on them at least every two hours. If they haven't gone to the dining room at the appointed hour they come and take them to the dining room. The staff even assists with taking their small dog out. I can not say enough good things about this staff. The patients have the opportunity to participate in mind stimulating discussions and live musical events happen at least twice every week. It is the perfect size community as well. About 75 residents and every resident is seen after, even when they become mentally exhaustive. If you are looking for a wonderful place with attentive people and need a secure environment - you need to check out Arbor Oaks. Mickey England
