I cannot say enough wonderful things about Smith Crossing and for the care and compassion that everyone showed our mom during her eight month stay in the Skilled Care unit. I wish we had considered SC years earlier, but we thought we were doing the right thing by keeping mom in her own home. Boy, were we wrong! We couldn't have eyes on her at her own home. Instead, it turned out that at SC, mom received the best care beyond our expectations! From the admission experience with Jennifer to monthly updates, meetings and daily encounters with Maddie and staff, we couldn't have been more pleased. Every time we would enter the facility, every staff member we encountered was always smiling, friendly and accommodating! We are so grateful to the awesome caregivers and staff that give of themselves genuinely on a daily basis, especially, Tori, Becca, Tammy, Ebony, Charmin, Carmen, Tiffanie, Kenneisha, Steve Trayes, Anna Marie, Housekeeping staff, Salon staff and of course, Maddie and Jennifer! Thank you ALL from the bottom of our hearts ~ our mom, Evelyn, loved you all and you treated mom and us with dignity and respect, and for that we will always be eternally grateful! If you are undecided about whether to place your loved one in a facility, I can assure you, Smith Crossing is the right place and your loved one will be in caring hands and you will gain peace of mind ~ I wish we would have made the move years earlier than we did! My dad entered assisted living back in January at Smith Crossing. It is certainly a five star operation!! The facility is very clean, modern, and inviting. The staff are so carring, compassionate, kind, helpful, and friendly. It was hard having to put our dad into assisted, but we are very thankful that we chose Smith Crossing.

My parents have been at Smith Crossing for over 6 months and thoroughly enjoy their new home - the staff, the residents, and their surroundings! Due to changing needs, we have had a parent in independent living, assisted living, assisted living with memory care, and skilled nursing. In each location, my parents have been treated respectfully and with sincere care and concern. When we visit, it is clear that staff members know both my parents by name, along with their unique needs. In particular, both Mike and Gabby have been exceptionally warm and accommodating to both my parents as they moved to Smith Crossing and transitioned to different living arrangements. Knowing that my parents are in a safe and caring environment gives me great comfort and peace of mind. I highly recommend Smith Crossing as a senior living community!

My husband and I are in our mid-70''s. We've lived at Smith Crossing for only 6 months, but already love it here. Our apt. is comfortable and quiet. There are many activities available to participate in and we've made many new friends. The food is delicious and the staff here is exceptionally friendly. No more home ownership concerns! Moving here was a very good decision for us.

It has been almost 1-year since we moved my 85 year old mother-in-law into Smith Crossing's (SC) independent living; she & our family could not be more pleased with this senior living community & their staff. The decision was based on several factors to include but not limited to, 1.) The personal stories that the CEO (Kevin) & Executive Director (Amanda) shared about their connections & commitments to SC, plus their level of engagement with the SC senior community and Orland Park. 2.) The availability of progressive care, specifically for memory. 3.) The variety of modern day apartments to choose from. (It's definitely not the institutional type facility I remember visiting my elderly relatives in as a kid.) 4.) The residents that we observed seemed genuinely happy to be there and are afforded endless activities & programs. 5.) The food IS definitely something to write home about. 6.) Moving/transition resources. 7.) Last, but not least, our primary POC & cost counselor (Michael) was a Godsend, truly professional, kind & courteous, & a relationship that continues to this day. Like so many others we know, life decisions with aging parents can be challenging and emotional. In our case, my mother-in-law had lost her spouse of 61 years the year before and she would eventually decide to leave their home of 60 years for SC. Change like this is hard, but the move to SC and all it had to offer made the change a little less hard. The SC community was very welcoming, the neighbors stopped by as we were moving her in, and SC had designated people to help her acclimate to her new surroundings. Most recently, she joined the choral group. Last week, we attended her first choral performance, "The Sounds of Music! Music of the 1950's." It was standing room only and they literally brought the house down! Truly heartwarming to see her, the other residents/performers, and all of the friends & family members in attendance, experience a sense of joyful belonging to the senior living community known as Smith Crossing.

I "shopped" senior living options for many months but kept coming back to Smith Crossing. It felt like home. Although I've only been here a few weeks, I've found the staff and other residents to be most friendly and welcoming. There are many activities available and there is always someone available to answer questions and/or offer assistance. The entire campus is beautiful. I love my apartment. Smith Crossing was definitely the right choice for me.

My mom went to Smith Crossing for Rehabilitation and it was the best decision we ever made. The staff was attentive, kind, and caring at all times. She was challenged with occupational, physical, and cognitive therapy that helped her grow stronger every day. She came out way ahead of how she was doing before she entered the hospital.

Smith Crossing is the premier retirement/rehab center in the Southside. After having our family member in the independent living and then rehab for eight years they exceeded our expectations of what a retirement center should be. The staff was always friendly, caring and giving their utmost attention to the residents. The residents made it not just a place to live but a loving community for everyone to join. This is a unique, well supported and generous place.

Residents are not surrounded by just older people when they live in a Senior Living Community/LifePlan Community. We receive services from younger people who are very passionate about being engaged with residents and how they provide services. They become a part of our enhanced family. Two young servers recently showed up at our apartment with my favorite piece of cake and decided to present it to me rather than discard it because the date was about to expire. It was very special to me for them to give me an "invisible hug" in this way and put their feelings into an action that blessed me.

My mom was at Smith Crossing for almost 8 years in the Memory Care Unit. Everyone treated my mom with compassion and caring. The nursing staff was excellent as well as the aides. The staff greeted her by name when we traveled through the hallways. I felt like I was with family when I visited her. I recommend Smith Crossing to everyone that is looking for placement for a loved one.

Smith Crossing was wonderful to mom! Staff was cheerful, interactive with family and resident. Food was wonderful compared to other rehab centers. They went out of their way to prepare items that they saw mom loved eating. Therapists were great. Mom couldn't wait to go to speech therapy. I cannot say enough about how much mom loved her stay there!

Smith Crossing has been a blessing to our family. My father had 5 wonderful years living in independent living. Following the passing of his wife and our mother of 52 years and a hip injury, we were extremely concerned that he would not heal, integrate back into society nor make any new friends. Smith Crossing completely turned his (and ours) life around. The apartment and grounds are beautiful and so very well kept while residents receive the highest level of care. As sons and a daughter, we were comforted to know that Smith Crossing availability of three tiers of care (plus rehab) readily available and daily check in by the staff on well-being gave us the reassurance he was never left alone. The facility provides several events and trips everyday which are posted and provided in a monthly calendar to residents are aware and can sign up. The meals in the restaurant and "Bistro" cafe are freshly prepared and delicious. Everything about this place is quality and well worth the investment. I would encourage everyone looking for safety, security and peace of mind for their elderly family members, to talk to the sales staff at Smith's Crossing.
