I have two parents who in the last five years of their lives spent time in a total of six facilities such as FV both in FL and MI. This was by far the best place. The help and staff was the biggest reason. They love their guests and out of their way to keep us informed and to offer thoughtful choices on issues we were unfamiliar with. There is also plenty to do with a host of activities and outside talent. The walking paths are stunning and were our favorite activities with Dad. Sadly the opposite was very apparent at a few of the other facilities. Very poorly run with only profit in mind and staff that had little knowledge of working with older and physically challenged guests. Without a doubt both parents would have lived longer if it wasn't for FALLS! But at FV it was as good of a trade off as possible. At others STAFF was completely negligent. Just a few things. Just a few things for the public this is a 24 hour facility however ever, the front desk is closed on the weekends after 4pm, so the inside front door will be answered by security. Walking trails, eltronic charging stations are for residents resident familes and employees only not open to the public. Maintenance is gone on the weekend starting at 4pm Saturday so it will be just security answering the calls till Monday after 8am Concerts and other events held here are for residents and family only as well. Hope this helps. Great facility to work in .

Friendship Village Kalamazoo provided a wonderful experience for my family member and our family. Twelve and one half years ago, our journey began in the Health Center, a move to Assisted Living , finishing in Independent Living for over seven years. When the time came, the moves were made in a more traditional path. At each step, we were so thankful to all of the employees of FVK for their guidance, support and care. At the end of life stage, the care and thoughtfulness continued for my family member and my family. The support came from every aspect of the FVK community. Many months have passed, I still recall employees from housekeepers, dining room staff, maintenance staff, caregivers, nurses on every shift and administrators who showed compassion to my family member and guidance to me.

Our parents moved into Independent Living in 2009 and what a wonderful experience they both had living the best life at FV in Kzoo! When we visited, we had to call ahead to "book a spot" ras they were so busy with all their activities!!! Mom passed in 2016 and Dad just past last summer in July. Friendship Village is a wonderful community with caring and knowledgeable staff. The staff treat the residents like family and are warm and welcoming. They also have a great therapy team helping residents rehab to home. The care is 5 stars all around!

Mom spent over twelve years at Friendship Village. She first lived in an independent apartment and as her health declined she spent some time in the on site rehab unit. Later, she was well cared for in the skilled nursing unit. She enjoyed the many varied activities and wonderful staff. All of her end of life needs were graciously provided by loving, caring people who treated Mom with respect.

Visited Mom for Thanksgiving - just the two of us and it was a very nice dinner. Food was good - dining room was attractive - and the service/staff were attentive and pleasant. As good of service as any restaurant we've been to in awhile.

I have worked at Friendship Village Woodside Kalamazoo for 17 years. It is a wonderful place. Residence are family, so happy to see you. They make coming to work a pleasure, not a job. I hope to continue my career for many years to come.

Best Care in Kalamazoo! My Mom was a resident of Woodside Assisted Living at Friendship Village. She had been at a different facility and the care was awful. From her first day at Woodside she finally felt she was "home". They were so good to her. The caregivers desk is at the end of the hallway of the rooms. Someone is always available to answer a question or help. When she pushed her alert button they were there in a couple minutes. I cannot say this about other facilities. I have always felt like food being good or bad is a personal opinion. However, I will tell you that my Mom was always able to find something she liked to eat. They also catered to her dietary needs as they changed. I felt like all the staff truly cared about her and were willing to help however they could. Not only is the facility and rooms beautiful, their staff was amazing. In her final days she was able to stay in her room, thanks to Hospice. The nurses and caregivers gave her so much love and attention and looked out for her needs. If I ever need to go someplace for care or have a family member need to be cared for, I wouldn't go anywhere else. If you are looking for a place for a loved one to live and be taken care of, I would highly recommend Woodside at Friendship Village.

Dianna at Friendship Village is so helpful. We did not end up utilizing Friendship Village because it wasn't something that worked for our needs but Dianna devoted 30 minutes of her time to explain the process and point to other resources in the community to help me. It is refreshing when someone gives their time to help and expects nothing in return other than to help a fellow human going through tough transitions. If you have questions regarding the intricacies of elderly care Dianna is so helpful!

The Friendship Village Rehab experience executed by every member of their fabulous team could not have been better! My nearly 88-year old mom chose to eat every meal in their lovely natural light lit dining area, and work on puzzles in their open family room area to satisfy her need to be social & forge new relationships. Their physical therapy & occupational professionals blended a first-class goal-oriented program with results. Not a single day went by without their caring & encouraging involvement which propelled mom every step of the way. My mom went from moving only in a wheelchair when she arrived, to walking out using only her walker! Heads up to the nursing, administration & food service team. This Rehab center is a jewel, and we can't thank the entire team enough!

My wife, JoAnn and I, have lived in an independent living apartment at F.V.K. since March 2020. We are impressed with the hard working and friendly staff during this time of Covid-19 living. From the C.E.O. to the buss person in the dinning room, they all take pride in their work and are cheerful and helpful when dealing with the residents. The are several varied entertainment programs each day which provides something for the residents varied interests. Also, within F.V.K are many areas for volunteer experiences. The entertainment programs and the volunteer opportunities keep us busy. As we meet our fellow residents, we are impressed with the interesting and productive lives they have to share. A great opportunity to exchange "life stories." We are pleased we moved to F.V.K. for the next phase of our life.

I have now worked at Friendship Village for three years, and I can state wholeheartedly that my work experience here has been the best of my 40+ years in the workforce. I have had a very diverse career, with many very interesting and rewarding positions, and yet, what I do now at Friendship Village makes me feel more like I am making a difference in people's lives than any other work I have done. The residents I serve are both friendly and genuinely appreciative of my work, which makes coming in to work each day the joy of my life! Not only that, I feel so supported by my supervisor and staff, not to mention receiving encouragement and appreciation from top administrators and support staff across the community. As I grow older and people ask me when I plan to retire, I honestly answer that I LOVE MY JOB, and that I can't even imagine not doing what I do with all of the wonderful people at Friendship Village!

Very clean, good food, pleasant staff but above all the health care providers were knowledgeable, caring and dedicated. The staff went above and beyond to take care of my mother. Mom was in 2 different care levels, at Woodside, a section of Friendship Village. It was competitively priced with other facility's in Kalamazoo. Both areas were staffed by caring and loving employees. I have no hesitation in recommending this facility with their high quality of care. The apartments were very nice with excellent care given to all residents. Group activities were very well done.

My 93 year old mother stayed at rehab twice then moved into assisted living at Woodside. The staff and administration are excellent and extraordinarily compassionate. They are very responsive to our questions and needs. The staff at Woodside are the best anyone could ask for. I would absolutely recommend Friendship Village to anyone needing rehab or assisted living. Kudos to the management and Board of Directors for making John Markilie's dream come true.

I started at Friendship Village 15 years ago thinking I was "just getting a job". After each day I became aware of what an amazing place it was to work and to live. The residents became an extension of my family and my coworkers the same. I moved from being a caregiver, to the front desk, to a director. I'm lucky to be a part of enriching the lives of the residents and creating lasting friendships with my fellow coworkers. I do not feel as if I'm going to work every day but rather going to spend time with my family. Friendship Village has given me the opportunity to grow my career by promoting within.
