As someone who worked inside Heritage Pointe of Warren, I feel families deserve to understand what staffing can sometimes look like behind the scenes. There were many shifts where I was expected to perform the duties of both a QMA and a CNA at the same time while caring for more than 20 residents with dementia. With so few nurses available in the building, there were times when residents who had fallen had to wait on the floor while staff tried to find help. Situations like that are incredibly stressful for caregivers and heartbreaking to witness because residents deserve immediate assistance and dignity. Staff were also told we could not begin showers or take breaks until after 4:30 p.m., even though supper started at 5:30. In reality this meant trying to complete five or six showers and more than twenty care tasks in just a short window before dinner. When care is rushed like that, it becomes very difficult to give each resident the attention they deserve. Another situation that deeply disturbed staff involved a resident who had passed away. While I was not present when it first occurred, I personally answered a phone call from management the following day where staff were told to stop talking about the incident and warned that write-ups could occur if the topic continued to be discussed. The explanation given was that postmortem care had already been done and that it “was not that big of a deal.” Staff were also discussing that the resident had remained in his wheelchair until the funeral home arrived hours later. Management later said the state had reviewed the situation and cleared it, though during my time working there I never personally saw investigators in the building. Experiences like this left many staff feeling uneasy about how concerns were addressed. Families place enormous trust in long-term care facilities. Residents deserve time, dignity, and attentive care — not caregivers stretched beyond what is safe. During my time working at Heritage Pointe of Warren, one of the most concerning things I witnessed was the workplace culture among some staff members. Instead of a professional team environment focused on residents, it often felt more like a clique or “mean-girl” atmosphere. Unfortunately, when that kind of dynamic develops in a healthcare setting, the residents are the ones who end up feeling the effects. There were frequent situations where call lights went unanswered even though residents clearly needed assistance. I reported this through the proper channels, but the issue continued to occur. Residents should never feel ignored when they are asking for help. Another concern was the amount of phone use during shifts. I regularly saw staff FaceTiming friends, wearing earbuds, or having full conversations with people outside the building while providing care or even while passing medications. That level of distraction is not only unprofessional but can create safety risks. The overall tone on the floor was also troubling at times. There was a significant amount of profanity and negative talk among staff in areas where residents could hear. In a place where people are supposed to feel safe, respected, and cared for, that kind of environment is disappointing. Families trust long-term care facilities to provide compassionate, attentive care for their loved ones. Residents deserve caregivers who are focused on them, not distracted or caught up in workplace drama.

Our family loves Heritage Pointe of Warren and the staff! My dad was moved to Heritage Pointe of Warren for rehab in June of 2023 following a hospital stay. The therapy staff and all the nursing and aide staff were awesome with him. After therapy, dad and our family decided that he needed to stay in the nursing home part for additional care instead of moving into his own apartment. Dad passed away earlier this week, but there are just no words to express our gratitude and appreciation to the staff. The staff went above and beyond to make him comfortable and happy. Their communication with the family was top notch. Moving dad to Heritage Pointe of Warren was the absolute best decision our family made! We are so very grateful for the care and love he received while he was there.

My wife has been in memory care at HP in Warren for 2 years. I was her caregiver for the previous 8 years. I feel this is the best place she could be at this stage of her life. The entire staff treats her like family. I have never encountered a negative or unprofessional attitude in the 2 years she's been there. All the staff, even including dietary, maintenance, housekeeping, as well as nurses and aides, are always upbeat and positive. I visit there often; I am there every few days. And I see this same level of care to the other residents as well, even when there are no visitors or loved ones around. The staff goes above and beyond to provide continuing interaction and activities for the residents. I feel totally comfortable and worry free with her being at Heritage Point.

My grandma has been living here in the assisted living part over a year now and absolutely loves it! She raves about how so many aides, nurses, and housekeepers are extremely friendly, even how quality the meals are! We can also verify the food is good after sampling several meals. It's always a well kept facility and she gets regular baths, etc. You don't hear that often in SNFs. It is a bit pricey to stay here though. GOOD JOB STAFF!!
