I can't say enough about the Heatherwood staff and facilities. My father lived there for the last 20 months of his life, and was always cared for with dignity, respect, and kindness. The facilities are bright and cheerful, and the residents clearly enjoy interacting with and getting to know each other. The staff are well-trained and very kind, and the administration is welcoming and helpful. They listen to the residents, and welcome their feedback and ideas. In the last days of our dad's life, they all went above and beyond, working alongside Heartland Hospice staff to make sure that Dad was comfortable, and that his family felt cared for as well, including bringing us food and coffee and maintaining open communication. Thank you to Jenny, Angela, Susie, and especially the direct care staff for your wonderful care and kindness. We will always be grateful.

My parents will be moving into Heatherwood after a wonderful intake process. I've found the team at Heatherwood to be responsive and compassionate. Residents were engaged and smiling during the tour. The facility itself was very well maintained and had beautiful spaces for both larger group gatherings and more private nooks and crannies depending on the resident's preference. Jenny, the Community Relations Director, went above and beyond to ensure a smooth process during what can be an emotional transition.

I have been a volunteer at Heatherwood in various capacities almost from its opening. Currently I sing with the Threshold Singers who come to Heatherwood twice a month. We are welcomed by staff and residents as we sing throughout the building to residents in their rooms and sometimes to a group that has gathered. Kaufua is so good to work with and often suggests someone new we can sing to. Heatherwood is a lovely place!

My mother was a resident at Heatherwood from June 2019 until she passed away in April 2024. After visiting several facilities with her, she chose Heatherwood because "it felt more like home". From Day #1 she was welcomed into the Heatherwood family and through the years was given excellent care by the staff that truly shows loving care and concern for each resident. We were frequent visitors and soon developed relationships with both the staff and with other residents. Early last year Mom moved from her 2nd floor apartment to the Memory Care unit where they were better able to provide the increased care that became necessary for her. The transition went very well, and she appreciated the additional attention the staff (which she already knew) was able to give her. Jenny Hall, Community Relations Director, was our initial contact and is a wonderful representative for the facility, always taking time to interact with the residents and get to know their families. Kaufua, the Activities Director, does an excellent job of coordinating a wide range of activities and outings for the residents. The care staff is very dedicated and their concern for the residents is evident by the excellent level of care they provide. The facility is well-maintained and in very good condition. Rick (maintenance) is very qualified and quickly and cheerfully takes care of any needed repairs. The team at Heatherwood truly delivers on providing a warm and welcoming environment. We greatly appreciate the kindness and compassion they showed Mom (and us) while she was there.

I have worked in the mental health field (psychotherapist and home health and hospice social worker) for over 20 years, and during that time have frequented many assisted living facilities as well as have collaborated with respective staff. Approximately 2 months ago, I was blessed with the opportunity to visit Heatherwood Assisted Living and Memory Care. I say blessed because first and foremost the staff actively exemplify Teddy Roosevelt’s words, People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Administration (Jenny, Elijah and Angie) care deeply about their residents and treat all who enter their building as if he/she was the most important person in the building in that matter moment. When I initially began my walk toward the entrance of Heatherwood, I had the privilege of interacting with two residents sitting outside with their dogs. They were smiling, in great spirits and engaged willingly in conversation (first indicator that I was walking into a place that cared). As I entered the building, I was quickly greeted by the Senior Living Counselor, Jenny Hall. I’m sure she was swamped as they hadn’t yet hired a new wellness director; however, she gave me great eye contact, smiled and welcomed my many questions as well as showed me the facility. Along the way, she greeted residents by name and helped out wherever needed (great leader and teammate). I could just tell that the residents respected her and that she valued each one of them! Beyond Jenny being the positively memorable face of the building, I quickly noticed that the facility was clean and absolutely beautiful inside! Having said that, I have been in beautiful buildings where the quality of care was lacking but not at Heatherwood. Every staff member that I interacted with had a positive attitude and demonstrated joy when caring for and/or interacting with the residents. The activities director even allowed me to join the exercise class and afterwords she invited the granddaughter of a resident to give a presentation on zoo animals (the granddaughter was a zoo keeper at the Houston zoo in Texas). The residents laughed a lot, asked great questions and it felt like a family atmosphere! For the sake of brevity, I’ll conclude with the most recent Heatherwood staff addition, Angela Pratt (Wellness Director, RN). A couple of weeks ago, Jenny made it a priority for me to meet Angela. Keep in mind I was not scheduled to see Angie but she welcomed me into her office with a smile. This is a woman who was in leadership at HSHS for many years up until its recent closing and who thought she would retire from HSHS. A few minutes into our conversation, I knew she was an Adversity Warrior and that Heatherwood was blessed to have her in a leadership position. She listened, asked excellent questions, verbally valued her staff, and spoke excitedly about her new position and about being resident focused - wanting to contribute to continue making Heatherwood a place where residents could continue to age in place with pride. No negativity was detected and the visit was refreshing! I am very much looking forward to continue collaborating with Heatherwood, to getting to know their residents better and to watching the Heatherwood leadership team and staff in action! They value the mental, physical, spiritual and emotional well-being of all of their residents, and I am so very grateful for them and their amazing servant-hearts!

We chose Heatherwood for my parents after looking at other area assisted living facilities. Heatherwood has a homey, comfortable feel where all staff knows the residents by name. We were able to furnish Mom and Dad’s apartment with all the comforts from their own home. The homemade meals are great, many activities offered to encourage residents to mingle. After six months, our parents have settled in and seem content in their new home. Mom and Dad are safe, in good spirits and are well cared for, which is just about everything an adult child hopes for.

We were nervous about mom moving into a new place, but it has been a very positive experience for her. She is more socially active than she was before--they offer a wide variety of activities and its easy for residents to join in for as much or as little as they wish. Food is great. I recently learned that my mother is now the resident who has been at Heatherwood the longest, which will be 7 years in November. If I ever felt that my mother was not receiving great care, she would not be there. We feel extremely lucky that she made the move when she did, and that she chose Heatherwood. My aunt recently moved to HeatherWood. She loves the atmosphere, saying it feels like a fancy resort, with people waiting on her! She also enjoys the food.
