Lived here since 2011 great place to live except for the food. There is a mandatory meal plan that pays for your food. One meal a day. The current food provider is a company called Restuara They started here 1 Nov 2025. My wife and I both dislike the food they serve. Often throw it into the garbage. My wife has said she wants to move out because f the poor tasting food. I would but we bought in and the medical service here in Texas is good.

My husband and I moved in June of 2022 and everything about Blue Skies is wonderful. Our lives have improved now that we no longer have to take care of a house and we can enjoy long vacations. We really like the Oaks cottage that we live in. It's a perfect size and allows us to continue independent living.

I researched quite a few facilities before making a decision as to where I should move for my final years. I currently am able to live independently, but I want the assurance of good care regardless of what the future might hold . Having been at Blue Skies for approximately ten months, I'm convinced that I made the very best decision. I rate Blue Skies West as excellent overall; and the people here, residents and staff, are truly wonderful.

We've lived here for over 5 1/2 years. It is true that Covid has changed a lot of the things we were used to, but even though the economy is struggling at the time, and adjustments have been made, Blue Skies is what we need. We have an outstanding Chapel community as well as an interesting variety of residents. There is so much talent here, not only artistic but intellectual, and creative thinkers. We are so happy to have the love and support of our myriad of diverse friends. Come join us, life is good.

The residents present multiple backgrounds, which makes finding friends very easy. There are more activities than one can imagine. Residents can choose to be as involved as they desire.

I've lived at Blue Skies of Texas West for 9.5 years. The adjustment was made easy by the staff & fellow residents. The friendships, exercise programs, and social events helps to keep me young and active. What a blessing it is to live at such a wonderful community. The facilities while not new are kept up wonderfully by housekeeping, maintenance and the grounds crew. With great pride I have invited friends to visit our community. I must mention the museum quality military history donated by residents that adorn the halls of the main building. If you are missing socialization in your senior years this is the place for you. Nice, except mandatory dining plan is too restrictive! Must use each month or lose monthly payment and meal entree choices frequently are not tasty enough to provide quality meal! I enjoy the friendship of residents very much! Most items are very expensive for what you receive.

Great community and luxurious living conditions whether deciding to retire, or just changing pace. Very respectful towards veterans and their families, while equally receptive towards those who are not military but choose to make Blue Skies their home.

I've been a resident here for 14 years! I've always loved the place, but following a traumatic experience when I had to put both my husband and my dad in memory care here and move into an apartment I was overwhelmed! My friends were great, but the people who really "wowed" me with their knowledge and concern were the staff here at Blue Skies! They were INCREDIBLE! You simply don't know what old age will bring you, but if you live in Blue Skies the help you will receive is unprecedented!

I've worked at Blue Skies of Texas for 16.5 years, and I can say no place is perfect, but Blue Skies is better than perfect because it is a community of leaders and employees who seek always to understand and to do the right thing to provide service to residents and to take care of each other as employees. They don't care about the staff's safety. Ladies if you are being harassed by anyone on their property they will fire you and turn a blind eye to the person doing the harassing. My whole life flashed before my eyes and Jamie and Shelly swept it under the rug wouldn't even allow me to speak to HR. There own staff have went PRN because of this and or quit all together.

My best friends mother stayed here during her illness and through my visits the staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and very empathetic to their needs. They made all of us feel safe trusting she was in great hands!! They also guided my friend with getting documents in order to include power of attorney and welcomed any assistance they could offer. The HR staff was phenomenal and would definitely recommend this place for your love ones.

Very dear friends of mine from my time in the service of my country in the USMC live here, and have been very happy, even during COVID-19 when they were forced by illnesses to spend several months apart. Fortunately, neither of them got the virus, but as they're both in their eighties, injuries and ill health become more problematic. They've both only spoken highly of this place, and the way that staff have helped enable them to stay in contact even when the husband was in a clinical setting in the complex and the wife was in their apartment. I encourage those of you looking at reviews of some other people to take note of several significant factors in the negative reviews. Brevity of the review, saying very little, and nothing of real substance as to what it was that the reviewer found objectionable. Ability of the reviewer to communicate to the reader in written English - at least two reviews show a severely limited ability to write competently. Number of reviews the person wrote and the scores they tend to dole out - when a person has only written five or fewer reviews, the the scores are always either ***** or *, well, they really don't deserve to be given the same consideration as someone who writes well, often, has evaluated hundreds of businesses around the country and overseas, and clearly takes writing reviews seriously. We cannot all get a PhD in English, but people should know how to use pronouns correctly, and spell.

The place is beautiful! However I wouldn't dear put my love one in freedom house the stuff is horrible they don't take care of the residents like they should, all the staff think about is being friends with each other instead of doing their job!! Not to mention majored of the staff are friends and family outside of work, meaning that they bring all their personal business and feelings to work. It doesn't matter if you're a good worker or not if they don't like you they will make up a reason to get you out the door . The staff don't believe in teamwork. The food is not the best and sometimes they don't even have enough food in the kitchen for the residents to eat. I feel sorry for the families and the residents because they pay a lot of money for the care that they deserve but don't get. The staff smile and be nice to friends and family when they visit but isn't giving their loved ones the care that they deserve!! Some of the people who has left reviews was a few years ago and if their love one is still there I'm sure they feel totally different about thing's now!

Good morning to you all ......I had thr pleasure to work with same of the ladies the live at Blue Sky of Texas (Air Force Village I a d Ii) for many years (21 years) and I had never see ladies that love to dress up for different events and looking so good (When you fill good you look goo) ....the ladies at Blue Sky of Texas are special to me....and if I ever need a place to spend the rest of my retirement days this place is going to be the one....thanks ROSA MARTHA LOPEZ

What a beautiful community and by community I really mean it in every sense of the word. There are lots of retirement options in and around the San Antonio area but this is one of the few that has a true sense of community. The only complaint I've ever heard was "we wish we would have made this move years ago!" The grounds are fantastic and the apartments, duplexes and single family homes are breathtaking but it is the staff and the people that live at Blue Skies that make this community truly shine.
